Friday Fitness

Hey Bloggies! Happy Friday!!

Hope you all have some lovely things planned for the upcoming weekend!

Don’t you love those mornings when you can leisurely wake up and slowly emerge yourself into the world, taking your time to enjoy the start of the day. Unfortunately, yesterday wasn’t one of those mornings. ;)

I spinned, showered, got ready, went to 2 appointments, and finally sat down for my coffee. Ahhhh. It was needed at this point.

I even had a date with Flat Kitty. He tried stealing some of my Starbucks, and I wasn’t having any of that nonsense ;) Check out Flat Kitty Friday, and get yourself one; he’s a pretty cool friend to have.

So after taking a week off from fitness, I definitely realized I do feel guilt when I miss my “gym time” and didn’t feel like I did anything productive with my day. You know what though, there are WAY more important things to life than working out everyday of my life. My family and friends get me through my hardest days and tough times through life.

The relationships that I build with these people is a lot more important and valuable than spending time in the gym. Of course I love getting in my gym time and getting my sweat on, but it shouldn’t run my life or have all my attention focused on.

*whoopsy, just purchased these pants off the lulu site yesterday. I couldn’t resist, they are so adorable*

I found myself truly missing my weekly trips to spin class, but also understand I still have exercise issues that aren’t going to overcome themselves overnight, I still have a lot to work on in that sense. I definitely need to learn that relaxing is okay every once in a while and finding the balance between healthy and obsession.

With all that being said, I jumped back into my workouts this week.

This week I am all about getting back into HIIT. I love the shorter workouts and the intensity, but I’m thinking I may still need to be backing off on the intensity of my workouts. I’m going to see how I feel after this week and if I’m still feeling tired I’ll change it up.

Monday I wanted to try out Lindsay’s Tabata Workout. So completed that, it was a doozy! Got my heart rate up and loved every minute of it! Great workout Lindsay! :D

Spin was done Tuesday and Thursday. It was nice to get my spin groove on and jammin’ along to those tunes that were playing during class. There was great music this week, which is always a plus!

I’m loving Zuzana’s ZWOW #4. I ended up doing this on Wednesday, and was feeling the burn. Lovely.

I love doing my HIIT workouts while watching some Real Housewives or The Bachelorette, I don’t feel so guilty for watching it this way and it takes my mind off the pain I’m experiencing ;)

This morning, before breakfast I got my sweat on and completed this workout of mine:

Phew. My arms are now dead.
There’s nothing better than getting your workout in before most of the world has yet to get out of bed, don’t ya think?

With that, I’m off to get some errands done.

Enjoy your weekend all!

Any plans for this coming Father’s Day?
What was your favourite workout this week?

xox,
Lisa

  1. Love the Lulu pants! I was just in a lululemon yesterday and am obsessed with all of their new clothes! I could easily spend way too much money in that store!

  2. Ugh, those lulu pants are too. cute. I love short, effective workouts! It’s awesome to get more done in a short period of time. Happy Friday girl!

  3. Your hair always looks so good!!

Being an eating disordered person I can totally relate to that horrible guilty feeling. I can get so wrapped up in the fitness world at times. I know everyone is different but I notice that when I focus too much on exercise is when I end up back in a negative place with food.

    Have a great weekend :-D

    • Thank you! I can definitely get wrapped up in the looking into the fitness world for inspiration, but part of that also isn’t realistic either. It’s a hard thing to balance, but eventually I’ll get there!

  4. I have a flat kitty waiting for its photo time too! You look wide awake and beautiful for a morning picture!

  5. Yay I’m glad you liked the workout!! And I am so happy that I’m getting back into spinning. I just went to a class this morning. It was great :) . I hope you have a fantastic weekend love!

  6. I love those Lulu pants!
It is definitely good to take a rest every now and then. I find that if I over train I don’t appreciate my workouts as much, and plus it’s so good to focus on relationships!
That workout looks awesome! HIIT kicks butt.

    • It’s so true we need to put more effort into relationships more than workouts, most of the time of course. I definitely find that I can overtrain quite easily when I let myself get in that mindset. I agree, HIIT rocks :)

  7. LOL @ flat kitty :)
I love those crops, but I don’t know if I could pull off that coral color!

  8. I’m SUCH a morning person – I make sure I have plenty of time to enjoy my breakfast and (massive) pot of tea everyday, even if it means getting up before 6am… And working out early feels awesome! Sometimes I feel really lazy in the afternoon because I actually forget that I did my miles before class, but hey, it just means that I have the rest of the day to recover :)

    • That’s what I enjoy about morning workouts as well, having the whole afternoon to do as I please! The morning is just such a relaxing time, to accomplish all the things I’d like before most of the people in my house even get up.

  9. I read in a magazine yesterday that Lululemon finally opened up a shop in London. I love Lululemon and I’ve told my colleagues about it and now they can go and check it out themselves! Woo!

  10. THOSE PANTS ARE SO CUTE!!! Man, I seriously need to go to Lulu one day– can you believe I’ve never stepped foot in one?? Maybe that’s a good thing for my wallet heehee ;)

    • You are crazy girl! ;) Can’t believe you’ve never been in one! It actually is probably a good thing for your wallet though!

  11. Your cat is hilarious! It’s funny how the just sneak into photos.

Since I was traveling for work on Wed/Thursday, I couldn’t work out for 2 days (a rarity for me!). I’m looking forward to a run after work to burn off some energy.

  12. You sound so positive :) I love it babe! I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUU! <3 I have a wedding to go to tomorrow which I am really excited for and then Father's day I am sure my Daddy and I will do some grilling :D !!!!!! I couldn't imagine him wanting to do anything else! We love our cooking time together :)

My favourite workout this week was my leg workout! It was seriously the hardest thing I have ever completed!

    • I find legs the hardest thing for me to complete! I like working my arms much more hah. Sounds like you have a lovely weekend coming up! :) I hope you and your dad enjoy grilling together!!

  13. i just spent WAY too much money at Lulu today!! Addictive!

  14. Yay for HIIT! Wish we could bust ‘em out together, dove. Also LOVE your dress! The lace touch is so cute. :-)

  15. You snagged an absolutely adorable pair of Lulu pants!! I’m on a major coral and orange kick (love both in neon too!) , so I’m lovin’ them big time. :) I’m conveniently going to be by Lululemon tomorrow, so I might have to pop in to take a peek. ;)

Amen to there being more to life than exercise! The pressure we place on ourselves is so silly! I completely understand the restless feeling that comes from being inactive though; I definitely feel my best when I squeeze in a workout. However I’ve realized that I don’t have to go balls to the walls every day…A short 20 minute HIIT sesh does the trick quite nicely (as you already know!). <3

My favorite workout this week was back day (Wednesday). I love the exercises, and also love the fact that my biceps get a good blast. :)

Happy weekend, gorgeous!! Love you!! <3

p.s. send that email any time! ;)

    • Definitely check the lulu store for some coral loving. I know how you love those bright colours this season :) I love working out my back! Hope you had a fab weekend! I’ll be sending that e-mail shortly! I’ve been recovering from a horrid cold that is finally starting to go away!

  16. Those pants are really (!) cute! I do the same thing –> working out while watching a show ;) Love it!

  17. Great high intensity work out! I love Zuzana- she rocks!

And lulu pants are the BEST (although I tend to only rock black)

I’m going home to Southampton and going to the beach/bike riding with my dad!

    xo

    Jocelyn

    • Zuzana seriously is in serious shape, her videos can always get me into that workout zone. I usually only wear the black one’s, but decided to give these a try! Hope you and your dad have a great beach/bike time, sounds like fun! :)

  18. It’s so true what you said about there being more to life than working out! I’ve been taking a lot more rest days than usual this summer but I don’t mind because I get to do other fun things with friends/family instead!

Your plank/pushup workout looks super intense. My arms would be jello after that haha. :D

My favourite workout this week was a 15 mile bike ride by the lake. It wasn’t an intense ride, but it felt so good to just enjoy it!

    • Sounds like a great ride! Yah, my arms died after haha.
I’ve definitely been realizing I can build more relationships when I take time and focus on family and friends other than my workouts, who would’ve thought? ;)

  19. you can’t go wrong with some cardio & a trashy T.V show in my book ;)
I really love when you take a break from exercising only to realize how much you love it.

    • It definitely feels good to realize I do love to workout and that I can give myself a break every once in a while.

  20. I definitely feel that exercise guilt too, Lisa. At least we are aware of it because that’s the first step. Then, we can work on getting past it and not letting our workouts define us.
I love my spin workouts too! And my HIIT! They make me feel awesome. It’s hard when they make you feel great for the normal, healthy reasons, but then also for the ED-related reasons. I wish I could just work out PURELY for those normal reasons!
    Love the Lulu pants!!

    • It’s hard to decipher if I’m working out for ED reasons or for personal enjoyment. It can be such a confusing disease in that sense. I wish I could workout for those normal reasons as well. It’s such a time consuming process! I know one day we’ll be able to beat those negative thoughts though :)

  21. Hey beautiful girlie!!
thank you for your kind words about my bike accident!!
eeeek the pinky wonder-unders are so so so cute! you must post a pic when they arrive, I am obsessed with Lulu running-skirts in the summer, but once the heat subsides I am ALL about the wonder-unders :)
I hope you’ve been having a great weekend
    xoxo!

    • I will definitely post a picture when they get here! :) I can’t wait!
I hope your weekend if full of recovering and feeling better soon! xo
