What’s up, friends! Happy Tuesday!
Hope you day is going well so far! It’s already early in the week and my brain is tired.
My internal alarm clock woke me up at 5 this morning. 4 hours sleep is not quite enough for me or anyone. I really need to get mys sleep back in control. Making a schedule for going to bed at a decent hour will need to be done. I can survive now, however, I’m certain I will crash shortly if I continue this.
Nothing a good dose of breakfast can’t fix…for now.
*Another batch of banana bread bowl, but I used pumpkin instead. After topped with a helping of cashew butter.*
Communicating with others is critical to having relationships in our lives. It can be used to send messages to other people who don’t know our thoughts or intentions. When we speak, it allows people to see our opinions and how we are as a person.
Sending our message out into the world is so important, we want people to hear what we have to say and who we are. This also means we need to practice what we preach. Making sure to communicate with others what you believe in yourself.
*My hunger hasn’t been coming on as strong as it had the past few days, so I had a small snack of protein coconut cream spread on top of an apple.*
While words are an important part of communication, they also require actions to follow up on our beliefs. Words are not useful if we don’t follow up with what we are saying. We need to take action on our belief system. We give our power away to our fears if we fail to act on them.
I know that to break beliefs and the control they have over me, I have to give into these thoughts and take actions to overcome them. Taking the power away from that fear, and giving back that power to myself. No one wants fears to control their lives.
*When dinner rolled around, I made myself bowl of zucchini, cauliflower, spinach, and tempeh. On the side I added some much needed avocado, for healthy fats, to the combination.*
Each time we listen to a negative thought or belief, it makes it harder to listen to our healthy voice. It gives our power away and strengthens the fears.
We can always say we need to do “x” to overcome a belief, but the only way to truly move forward is to provide the actions to overcome the thoughts.
*I roasted the veggies and tempeh up in a coating of coconut oil, spicy red pepper flakes, and nutritional yeast. This was super filling.*
I know what needs to be done, I need to apply actions not just words to my daily life. This can be said with any disease, disorder, or fear that is holding us back in life. Practice what you preach. Simple, but effective.
Do you have a hard time applying positive actions to your thoughts? Are you good at practicing what you preach?

So true! It’s easy to SAY we want to do something, but it’s a lot harder to actually DO it! I have trouble with that too. I’ve been wanting to go to a yoga class all summer… but have I actually done it yet? No!
I find it helps to write down an action plan with timelines for your goals/intentions – that way you feel more motivation and pressure to actually do it!
Haha, totally relate!
I definitely find it more helpful to write down those goals too. Then it seems as if I actually “have” to do it. Instead of just thinking or talking about it.
I have only done tempeh in a fry pan so far (marinate then quick saute)! Do you roast them with your vegetables – for the same amount of time?
Yep. I roast them all at the same time.
I hear you on getting back on a schedule. I am by no means a morning person but am working hard at getting myself up at a decent hour 6:45am (this is very hard for me!) but we shall see!!
You’ll get used to it! I think it just takes a while for our bodies to adjust to a new schedule.
I love this post! I definitely struggle with practicing what I preach! Especially when it comes to positivity! I can be positive all day long when it comes to others but when I get to myself sometimes that negativity sets in! Thank you for this great reminder to practice what you preach and to spread positivity as often as possible
No problem lady! I know I relate to all those things! Its a great reminder even to myself.
cute lime green bowl
Thank you! Anthropologie:)
great posy hun! I think we all need to remind ourselves time to time of this!
your dinner looks suuuuper yummy
Why thanks sweet lady!
I am the same way, I can preach to a crowd but know I need to internalize a lot of it. Thanks for this!
No problem Alex!
That breakfast with cashew butter sounds GOOD!
I usually practice what I preach, actually. I don’t like being ‘fake’ or coming off as someone I am not, but then again, people’s perception of me might be different from what I perceive of me (if that makes sense?)
I just try my best in everything I do, and give my heart to things I care about and what I deem worth my time
It is definitely awesome:)
Yes, that definitely makes sense to me! I totally agree with everything you said. And it sounds like a great way to view things.
Awesome post Lisa- a pretty profound topic, which probably affects a lot of us.
Unfortunately when it comes to making positive changes in life ,Iv fallen prey to being more talk and less action, on various occasions- but I think this is something the majority of us will probably striving to change, and be working on our whole lives( well, I hope its not just me anywayz).
Practising what you preach is tricky! Being a hypocrite, and telling others what to do/believe , but not following these things through ourselves, is aaall too easy to do… But its not really a nice quality. I’m not perfect at practising what I preach, but I definitely try my best to avoid hypocrisy.
Your dinner does sound/look deevine. I just bought a head of cauliflower bigger than, well, my head- and I think I’m going to roast it Lisa style tonight *excited*! Iv never actually cooked nooch before( normally just sprinkle it on stuff or use it in uncooked food), so ill be interested to see how it turns out:).
Xxx
Yes, I definitely think its something a majority of us suffer with.
Its definitely so easy to just preach something and never follow up with it. I have found myself doing that and then feeling guilty, but I have to realize to not feel the guilt and if I do, then I should just change that guilt into completing the action.
Hehe, hope you roast that giant cauliflower up! My favourite way to eat it! Yep, I just sprinkle the nooch right on top of the veggies.
Love the post! It’s definitely hard to stick to what you want to do. I try to start my day with a positive attitude but sometimes one thing goes wrong and throws me off! I’d like to keep myself in check more often
Couldn’t agree with you more!
mmm mmm mmm! i love me a good bowl of coconut encrusted veggies! so delicious. i agree it’s so hard to stick to what you want to do! i think finding the positive in everything is a great motivator – other than the fact that sometimes you just have to get shit done because it needs to get done – like GET YOUR SLEEP LADY!
Yes. I need to get that sleep in!!
Totally agree with finding that positivity in the situation and using it to motivate you!
What a fantastic bowl! I love coconut with tempeh.
Great reminder about practicing what we preach. I have to call myself out a LOT… but the important thing is to be self-aware and correct yourself when a correction is needed. That is growth!
Coconut and tempeh is an awesome combo. I just love it.
We just need to bring positive awareness to the situation and learn from that mistake, I’ve done it far too many times I care to admit.
So true! Sometimes things are so much easier to say and promote than they are to actually do ourselves. I think part of that is just making a change to something that is a habit or something that has become ingrained. Hope you are having a great day love!
Oh, for sure. Its so hard to change something when we’ve made it such a habit! I think that’s the hardest part of breaking from it. Especially if it gives us that anxious feeling. I guess that goes with being comfortable with getting uncomfortable to make a positive change!
You are sooo right! I do that all of the time. It is great that you are honest with yourself! I should do that too
Its so important to be honest with ourselves! It helps to make productive changes!
oh hunni this post is spot on! I have such difficulty practicing what I preach, and I know exactly what I need to do, it just is so hard implementing the right behaviors! good luck and keep fighting! communication is absolutely the key to success
I relate so much. I know what I need to do to change, but I lack that motivation to do it. Or maybe motivation isn’t the right word. I just let the disorder take over my mind and sometimes need to just push myself to do what I’m speaking about.
Love this post love! It is so easy sometimes to tell others what to do and not do it yourself! However, when you recognize that and you change it… that is when growth takes place! I know I find myself doing that!
I find myself doing the same! I’ll recognize I’m telling people things I should be doing myself. Its a great step to just realize that and now to make the changes to get healthy!
aah me too! I often set goals for myself and then have trouble following through. Ugh it’s so frustrating! I find it helps me to write out what I want to acheive or do and then POST IT up where I can see it – On the wall above my desk, on my bathroom mirror etc. Good thing I live with just my family haha but it is a good way to keep me accountable. Your dinner looks/sounds amazing – so many fun things going on there!
That’s why I always hate setting goals, because I always having tough times following through haha. I think its really good to have them though, or else we get stuck in our “comfortable” lives and stay there too long.
That’s a great idea to post the goals you have! It makes it easier to access them and then make changes.
I keep telling myself that I will leave more comments on the blogs I read. Now your post has inspired me to follow through! I just started reading your blog a couple weeks ago and this is my first comment. I think your blog is great. You really shine through in your posts. I appreciate your emphasis on positive thinking, healing and health. Thanks for sharing yourself in your blog.
I do pretty well at practicing what I preach, although I often struggle with procrastination. I just felt inspired to get started on the project I was procrastinating! Yay, that felt great!
Thanks Austin!! That is great you are following through with leaving comments on the blogs you read!
And thank you for those awesome comments, I appreciate it greatly.
I feel you on the procrastination. I am the queen of it.
I’m so happy that you are following through with your goals!
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Actions truly do speak louder than words. We can talk about something until we’re blue in the face but it’s not until we follow through and ACT on it that things are accomplished. It’s amazing that you’re seeing that and are so passionate about following through with what you know is best for you. I know you can do it! <3
Delicious looking meals, by the way (as always!)
Thanks Emily. I definitely can talk and talk about all the changes needed to be made and then not follow through, but I’m working past that and starting to make the actions I need to. And it feels awesome to do that finally!
