Things and Thoughts

Good Morning!

I hope everyones day so far is filled with some positivity and smiles!

I’m determined to make a lot happen today. I have a bunch of things on the agenda, so hopefully my to do list will get a lot checked off!

I usually accomplish things in bursts. I will feel super duper productive one day, so I just do a bunch of things that I’ve been putting off for…well, an extremely ridiculous amount of time.

The day started out how it usually does, breakfast and coffee.

I wanted to change up my oats a bit today, so baked oats were on the agenda. I went with banana coconut baked oatmeal. It was as yummy as it sounds.

I preheated the oven to 375, mixed all the ingredients, and baked for about 20 minutes.

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  •  1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup egg whites
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • stevia

The banana got so creamy and sweet while baking in the oven and was super delicious all around. This breakfast definitely hit the spot.

Tuesday will include my list of thoughts and things happening.

1. I am obsessed with Goblet Squats.

[Source]

Since cutting down on my high intensity workouts, I have been trying to get in some more strength training moves and squats are just about my favourite right now. They make my booty burn, in the best way possible of course.

2. Another thing I totally adore is this Revlon lip stain.

[Source]

I have a lipstick I wear pretty much daily, but wanted another one just for a little change up, and picked this up on a whim.

Turns out it’s an awesome product. It lasted for such a long time, which is perfect for work and it went on really smooth as well and wasn’t sticky.

My biggest pet peeve is sticky lip gloss. The worst is when it’s windy out and the wind gets all up in your hair and gets stuck in your lip gloss. That’s just not a good look on anyone.

3. Full fat greek yogurt is glorious. So thick and creamy!

Why one earth was I eating fat free for so long. Full fat is so much more filling and satisfying.

Yep, this will be a regular occurrence over here.

4. Roasted vegetables are so dang delicious. I. Can’t. Stop.

Even though it’s still super hot, I won’t stop turning on my oven for the sake of these wonderfully tasty things. Especially when they are cooked in coconut oil and nutritional yeast. Tasted kind of popcorn-y.

5. New Recipes.

I am on a mission to make these cupcakes from Laury and this zucchini bread from Paige.

How good do these both look?!?

6. Olivia Munn is quickly becoming one of my favourite style icons.

I can’t get enough of these outfits and would very much like the chance to recreate it…at a reasonable cost of course.

[Source 1, Source 2]

Speaking of Olivia Munn, has anyone seen and loved The Newsroom like I have? It is such a good show! A new obsession is growing. Not that I need another one.

7. Self Love.

Do you experience those negative conversations that happen in your mind? Telling you you are “not good enough” or that you “look fat today”.

Don’t allow those thoughts to overcome your attitude for the day! The first thing to do in these situations is be aware that you are thinking negatively. If your mind is playing those nasty tricks on you, replace every negative thought with 3 positive things that you love about yourself.

[Source]

Trust me, you will feel much better when you accept that these negative thoughts are happening, and take control of the negativity by addressing the thoughts right away.

By writing down three thing you love about you, it will confirm with evidence the things you love about you. You will have this to look back at whenever you feel down. It will increase your confidence and self love.

8. 5 Random Things about me

I’ll leave with this survey I got tagged in on instagram a while ago, and just thought I’d some random tidbits about myself.

What’s something random about you?
What are some of your favourite products lately?

Hope you all have a great day!

  1. I agree – goblet squats are pretty awesome! And yes, nothing compares to full fat Greek yogurt! Where do you buy your’s? I’ve only seen it at Whole Foods. I wish they sold it in my regular grocery store!

    • They just sell it at our regular grocery store here! And at a store called planet organic, I’m guessing they don’t have that in the states though?

  2. haha ping pong club! So cool! I love your pictures of roasted veggies, I seriously do the same with my veggies. The best way to eat them in my opinion.

  3. “If your mind is playing those nasty tricks on you, replace every negative thought with 3 positive things that you love about yourself.” <– LOVE it!! I totally need to remember this as I try to make it through this last week of o-chem. Thanks so much for posting it! :D
Miss reading your blog, can't wait to get caught up again! Love ya girl!!! <3

  4. Another fun post!! I love reading what everyone’s favorite things are or facts about themselves! I am so in the market for a new lip gloss, and I am glad you posted about Revlon. I was wondering about this one. I admit, I am a sucker for those sticky & shiny lip glosses, but HATE when my hair gets stuck in it.. THE WORST!! and I commend you for eating full fat greek yogurt.. can’t say I could do the same. YOU GO GIRL!

    • Haha, I know so annoying when your hair gets stuck in it! Extreme pet peeve!
The full fat is just SO much more satisfying.

  5. I am currently obsessed with agave!! I haven’t ever used it until lately, soooo good.

  6. I totally agree about Olivia Munn. She is tres chic and naturally gorgeous too! Self love is so important. I have had my ups and downs with that over the years. Everyone has moments of self doubt, but it’s how you deal with it that matters. If I’m feeling bad about myself, I’ll usually do something nice for someone else like spend time playing with my dog because it makes him happy. Or I’ll call my grandma and cheer up her day. Making someone else happy will always make you feel great about yourself no matter what!!

    • Its true, everyday is not going to be perfect and we’ll all suffer from those doubtful moments. Its just how we deal with them that is important.
Making someone happy definitely improves mood instantly:)

  7. 9 broken bones?? I totally though my 6, or may be it’s 7 ((who counts after 2 anyways)) was a lot! What all have you broken? Glad to know that there are people with as bad of luck as me :)

  8. Thanks for the lip stain recommendation! It sounds perfect for me – sticky gloss is the worst :(

  9. your random facts are good ones!! that is a lot of broken bones, wow!

  10. Love this post! I just did goblet squats in crossfit today with a kettlebell and loved them! I have been on a serious smoothie kick lately! Might have something to do with the heat! That baked oatmeal sounds fabulous too!

    • They are super intense! Love them.
I’m hoping my smoothie love comes back, I haven’t had one in a while now!

  11. the baked oatmeal looks good and roasted veggies are my favorite too!

i love goblet squats and program them all the time in my classes and for my clients!

  12. full-fat greek yogurt is the BEST! I eat it, but I eat fat-free too sometimes…basically whatever my mom buys, she has the thicker wallet after all haha :-P Love that advice about positive self-talk too, I sometimes get down on myself, especially when I compare myself to others, and I really do need to remember to just stop that and think better of myself!

    • Haha. Very true! I can barely eat the 0% now. Either 2% or full fat.
We definitely have to always look for the positives! They are always there!

  13. Your breakfast sounds awesome, totally saving that recipe :) & I haven’t tried full fat yogurtb before but I don’t think I’m anywhere near ready for the switch yet anyway. Sigh. Glad you’re doing well :)

  14. Ping pong club sounds so cool! And I’ll have to see if I can find that revlon lip stain. I hate sticky lips too.

  15. Soo many good things goin on in this post! I’m gonna go with bullet pionts-

    * I can’t wait to try that breakfast. And I guess you’ll try it with pumpkin sometime in the future- seems like the kind of thing you’d do:p.
    * I read this post in Boots( a uk pharmacy)& picked up that lip stain in beloved/adoration because you made me want it! Iv not tried it yet though, what colour(s) do you have?
*im obsessed with fat free greek yog, so I never know if the ones with fat will be worth it,( like , why would I want fat in my yogurt, when I could eat more nut butter?), but iv been intrigued to try it for a little while, hmm..
    *roasted veggies+nooch+coconut oil= BOMB.
    * squats are my fave lower body move, I like’em any which way they come. Lunges on the other hand, I dislike( probably because I suck at them, go figure), so lunge hatred can be my random fact. + jump squats are just plain fun:).

    Xxx

    • Oh yes, you know I love my pumpkin:)
I hope you enjoy the lip stain!! I have the nude and wild berry.
Haha. True about the addition of nut butter! I definitely use the lower fat if I want more nut butter to have!
Oh man, I totally dislike lunges too! I find them so much harder. Jumping lunges make me want to die a little bit;)

  16. I use to have a horse.
favorite product B.C bigelow lip gloss! Its amazing.

  17. Full fat Greek yogurt FTW!
And let me know if you make the bread :)

    • I can’t believe I didn’t try full fat sooner. Such a mistake!
Its’ on my agenda to make tomorrow before I go to work! I just picked up zucchinis for the occasion!

  18. What a positive post! I love the “three thing” idea–I’ll be adding it to my morning journal for sure :) Can’t wait to hear how the cupcakes and z-bread turn out!

  19. I love Olivia’s style. I would totally rock those turquoise jeans :) A random fact about me is that I went to band camp…in the 7th grade. I was too young for anything dirty to happen LOL!

  20. That’s alot of broken bones!!! DANG! I never knew you swam! I danced and cheered growing up and I danced for my college team. :)

    • Ooh, I didn’t know that about you! That is so neat!
I wish I could dance, I’m very uncoordinated!

  21. goblet squats are killer!

And how on EARTH did you manage to break so many bones? Pretty sure I sprained a thumb once – worst injury to date.

  22. Your posts are always so much fun to read…probably because I can relate to them so much!
1.) I’m the same way with productivity! I get random spurts of energy and just have the urge to get EVERYTHING done. haha. I love it.
2.) Goblet squats are amazing. Enough said.
3.) Olivia Munn is gorgeous and I’m dying for those blue jeans! The color is perfect.
4.) I cannot believe you’ve broken 9 bones! That’s so crazy. Other than toes, I don’t think I’ve ever broken any.

    Happy Tuesday, gorgeous!

    • Haha, the productivity thing is so weird! Its just how I’ve been my whole life though.
I know, the blue jeans are such a pretty colour. I love them.

  23. Goblet squats are a great move… my bum is guaranteed to burn the day after haha. But like you said, a good burn of course ;)
As always, I am loving your breakfast… I actually haven’t had oatbran/oatmeal in a long time, so I might switch it up this am and enjoy some!
That is a ton of broken bones too, wow lady, I am impressed! I broke my left arm three times and my thumb once (had to get surgery) but you most certainly win haha
I agreeee so much about the self love! I need to work on this so so much because I spend way too much time hating on myself. What the heck is the point? It makes me feel worse and no one really cares around me either <– i mean that in a good way, they are not critiquing me as I am to myself.

    • I can’t get enough of oat bran. For some reason I find it much more filling than oatmeal.
Haha, I’m clearly an oddball and just manage to fall a lot and break things;)
I used to be in such a bad place with depression and being so negative about myself, but there was a certain point that clicked for me and I realized I had to turn it around, because I was basically making my own life horrible by thinking that way. It takes time and effort, but is so worth it!

  24. I LOVE the newsroom!!And I love Olivia’s character! She’s my favorite! I can’t stand the blonde girl, she’s so annoying, the one who’s in love with Jim, but deny’s it

    • I totally agree! I even forget her name because she irritates me haha.
I love her character as well, adore how she’s so knowledgeable and just adorable!
