Which Do You Love?

Happy Monday!

Good morning! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I just spend it working, so didn’t get to experience too many exciting things.  I came home last night and just crashed right away. It was SUPER hot over here, I just love the sunshine! I also got far too many bug bites this past weekend, my legs are non stop itchy!! Not the best feeling ever.

We also had the fun experience of watching fellow Victorian, Ryan Cochrane receive his silver medal in the 1500 freestyle! It was such a good race and super exciting to watch!
Its really cool to watch him race, because we actually used to swim together! So, its pretty neat to see him out at the Olympics and actually medal!

Pretty darn amazing. Everyone is super happy for him, of course! What an incredible accomplishment for anyone!

This marvelous morning, I thought I’d complete this fun survey from Katie’s blog!!

Let’s get straight to it…

1. Strength training or cardio?

*one of my favourite workouts, incorporating some fun burpees!*

This is a tough one for my to choose between. I definitely am a spin junky, but I really love crossfit/GPP style workouts that include pushups, goblet squats, walking lunges, and all those fun strength training moves! I love them both equally, although right now my workouts aren’t as intense as I’d like them to be. Fitness is going to be there forever, my bone health, however is not if I don’t take care of it now. The most important thing to me, is being confident in my body and what it does for me daily!

2. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

Definitely breakfast. I think this is the clear winner for me. I’d be a happy chick if I could build all of my meals to look like breakfast Breakfast for breakfast, for lunch, and for dinner is a win in my books. Oh and snacks too. I’m basically a classy breakfast snob.

3. Dress up or workout clothes?

My favourite thing is to get all dolled up for the day or night. I like to put effort in my appearance, because it personally makes me feel better about myself and puts me in a more positive light looking my best. I just enjoy girly things. However, if you ever see my at home I’ll be totally decked out in my comfy sweatpants and a t-shirt.

4. Wine or beer?

*homemade vodka lemonades are just about my favourite thing to drink during the summer…fine and winter too.*

Well, since I despise beer, I’d have to go with wine. I definitely enjoy a nice glass of white wine every now and again. If I had the choice of any liquor though, I’d have to say a grey goose cocktail is definitely my favourite. A nice cocktail over the weekend with friends is something I am a-okay with!

5. Peanut butter or almond butter?

Can I choose cashew butter instead? Its so creamy and just yummy. For this one, I’d have to say I prefer almond butter on this one. I actually love peanut flour, but don’t care for the peanut butter taste. I think it’s a bit too savoury tasting? And I hate how sticky it is. Okay, I guess its a texture thing. I’m odd about the textures of foods. Give me almond, cashew, walnut, or coconut butter and I’ll use it all day, everyday!

6. Heels or flats?

*Some of my favourite sparkly heels, I just love these things. They are so pretty.*

I almost never go a day without wearing heels. I’m a little bit of a shorty, so I can definitely rock out the heels. For some reason, I just can’t get with the flats. I used to live in them, but over the past year or so I’ve grown to love my heels. Even at work, while standing for hours I still prefer the heels look, although my feet do hurt by the end of the night. There are some super cute flats out there of course, I just don’t think I pull them off as well.

7. The actual cake or the frosting?

*The cutest cupcakes ever! How adorable are these little bees and flowers! Can’t get enough of these designs. Seriously, I could never have that precision!*

FROSTING!! I never liked cake as a kid and always ate the frosting on my friends cake. I’d always pick the ice cream cake to have at my parties, since I was never a cake gal.

8. Spring, summer, fall, or winter?

*Hot chocolate; made with coconut milk, raw cacao powder, and stevia. Yummmm.*

Oh man, I swear whenever a new season turns over I say that one is my favourite. I love each season for different reasons.
Spring = flowers, light and cool weather, and colourful and fun clothes, Easter.
Fall = pumpkin, leaves blowing, cooler weather, crisp autumn scents, warm meals, my birthday!, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.
Winter = snow, holidays, hot cocoa, family time, cute sweaters, soups, boots, Christmas, and New Years.
Summer = fun dresses, bright colours, smoothies, and salads, and Canada Day.

9. Real animal or stuffed animal?

*My precious kitty, Miley. What a cutie cat is she?*

Real animals! I miss my little cats. (Crazy cat lady over here). I want to get a little kitten or puppy I can play with. I miss that bonding time with animals. And it’s a great excuse to get outdoors and move more!

10.  Bright or light?

*Green cookie dough! I love this snack! Yes, its a little obnoxious looking. But, its delicious!*

Bright, bright baby. I live for the bright clothing and nails right now. Its a joy! And makes everything more visually pleasing, to me. I even like to get a little crazy and eat bright foods. Give me that green cookie dough.

Alright, I’m off for now.

Your turn! Answer on or all of the questions above, or do it yourself!

Hope you all have a super fantastic Monday!!

  1. your food is always so beautiful. I love those heels! i can see you rocking some killer heels.

  2. I just love these posts!!! I am so indecisive though I have big problems answering them! I am in love with those heels!

  3. I agree cashew butter is so amazing!! I just ate it with my breakfast haha. I love the “kettle brand” cashew butter and the almond butter is pretty amazing too! Have a great monday!

    • I’ve never heard of that brand before! I’m guessing its just sold in the states, most likely.

  4. I kind of want to raid your shoe collection. Those heels are adorable! While flats are easy on the feet, I’m a heel girl all the way.

Going to file this away for a future post – I love surveys!

  5. oh my gosh those heels are EPIC!!! I am the complete opposite, I’m really short but I feel soooo akward in heels….they’re gorgeous though, I wish I could pull them off haha! and +100000 on the frosting….I don’t see the point of cake hahaha

    • Haha, I’m sure you could rock out the heels! Most people can:)
Me too! I never see the point of cake, not the tastiest to me.

  6. haha we are super opposite on a lot of things, but i am SO with you on the breakfast!! xoxo

  7. You and I think alike on the cake issue! Frosting is the best, especially chocolate :)

  8. Frosting (even before I was GF), breakfast, strength (used to be a cardio gal all the way), and all nut butters. ;)

  9. That’s so cool you used to swim with an Olympian!!!

I’d chose workout clothes over dress clothes all day long. :)

    • I know! Its pretty neat to see him out there competing and everything! Makes me wish I stuck with it longer!
Haha, I figured most people would choose workouts clothes;)

  10. Wait, you’re short? To me on your blog, you come across as having the air & grace of a tall, glamazonian princess:p, guess I missed the ball with the tall part, ha.
You have mentioned that you used to swim a few times. And because I’m extremely inquisitive( read: a nosy parker & kinda rude), I’m interested to know why you stopped, I mean I think you stopped anyway? And do you ever want to take your workouts to the pool now?

Whoa, that workout is burpee-centric and HARD looking! I’d love to take on the challenge, but the act of a 1 legged or side to side burpee might be a bit beyond me:/.

    Breakfast FTW:)!!
    Xxx

    • Haha, well I’m not really short. I’m about 5’4 – 5’5. Somewhere in between there. So definitely not super short, more like in the middle. Most of my friends are at least 5’9, so I just feel short compared to them haha.
I sometimes workout at the pool still, but not as often as I’d like to! I actually quit because we were training sooo often, like 7-9 times a week and I had to choose between that and a social life. And at the time I was starting a new school and got in with a pretty bad crowd, so I chose socializing over swimming. Its something I still regret, but I’m trying hard to not “regret” this step in my life. It happened, so I have to get over it haha.
Its definitely a tough workout!! Something I can’t do right now because of the lower intensity I’m doing, but I’ve done it before and its a burner!!

  11. the green cookie dough looks fantastic :) !! i also have been dying to try cashew butter… i just do not know if my wallet can afford one more nut butter addiction! HA!

    • Haha, I know what you mean! I get so sad when I run low because its so expensive so I have to save up for it!

  12. Aww, your kitty Miley looks like my kitty Vera. Miley is so adorable!

This survey was a fun way to get to know you.

I’ll answer one question so you can know a little more about me too.

Strength training or cardio? I like both. Right now I am more into strength. I have not gotten back into cardio since I cut back on exercise to gain weight 2 years ago. It was good for me to cut back because I was able to regain my period. Since then, I had a successful pregnancy and now I have a healthy daughter who is still nursing at 13 months old. I want to get back into cardio again, but I will be taking it slow. Now for fitness I do yoga at home every morning except Sundays. I’m doing 9 sun salutations and they are making me crazy strong! I love it! I hope that when I do get back into cardio I will benefit from the strength training.

    • I just love cats hah.
That’s so great you cut down on your cardio to regain your period! That’s something I’m doing right now for myself!
Especially since you gained a healthy daughter from it! Truly inspiring to hear!
That’s cool to hear about the salutations, I should try incorporating them into my routine!
That’s a good idea to take the cardio increase on slowly, so your body can become used to it again

  13. I love these posts!! We are so similar–my favorite pair of heels is a gold glitter pair bySteve Madden. Putting them on makes me feel instantly more confident. I loveee breakfast too, and I totally agree with the weird, sticky peanut butter texture. Almond, cashew, and coconut are wayyy better. I’m taking it easy on the fitness too lately thanks to some bone and (lack of) period issues but I do love some spinning! Can’t wait to get into it again. Aaaand I have a kitty that is twins with yours! I love her to death!
    happy monday pretty girl!

    • Wahoo, I love having similar answers to others! I definitely agree with the heels = confidence. Its just an instant booster.
Haha, we are so twins! Love it!!

  14. I am a GPP workout addict! I love it. Todays workout is right up your alley right now. http://www.gppfitness.com/home/2012/8/6/running-the-rack.html
It is a muscle building WOD.
    That burpee workout looks fun!

  15. I love burpee workouts. I really do. And i would choose those heels too!!!

  16. I’ll admit that I am a total cardio junkie. Oh well.
If I had those shoes I would find an excuse to wear them everyday! haha

  17. Such a fun survey!
I seriously agree with, like, all of your answers. Of course. (:
That burpee workout sounds killer! I’m definitely going to try it this week. And I’m alllll about heels and frosting. Two of my favorite things ever!

  18. These kind of posts are great, I am glad you filled it out Lisa! i WISH I wore heels more! There is no reason I don’t other than being embarrassed by my height when I wear them. However I really just ought to and rock them! Those particular heels you have there are pretty fantastic.
I am a breakfast fiend for sure, I love breakfast foods it seems, and getting over my fear of the meal has been a major relief :)

    • You should definitely just embrace your height! I see so many girls pull of the look and it looks great!
We definitely love our breakfast! :) It seems to be a favourite among most of us bloggers

  19. Love these!! I’ve never had cashew butter!! I love me some sunflower butter. I’m all about summer… don’t like the cold!

    • You have got to try out cashew butter! You will never look back.
I haven’t tried sunflower butter actually haha. I’m scared I either won’t like it, or get addicted to yet another nut butter!

  20. I think it’s so cool that you swam with an Olympian! Congrats to him (and Victoria) for bringing home the silver!

You’re my bright color and frosting-loving sister! <3 I think you already know those two things about me (ice cream cake ALL the way…or even better, a cakeless ice cream cake. I guess that would make it an ice cream pie?).

When we're in Boston, you're going to have to teach my how to rock a pair of heels. I love how they look, but hate how they feel! I usually last an hour and then toss them off and go barefoot. I'm such a wimp. ;-) Flats or wedges are my best friends.

Hot chocolate made with coconut milk is amazing! Love you! <3 xoxo

    • I know, its definitely cool to see him swim in the Olympic pool!
Haha, yep we are totally twins in that department! Yah, I guess it would be an ice cream pie! Is there such thing? If not, lets invent it. Sounds darn delicious to me.
So excited for Boston, I’ll teach you the heel ways ;) I love my wedges too! As long as something gives me height I’m good!
Agreed on hot chocolate made with coconut milk. Its SO delicious! I was missing out on far too long and that amazingness!
      Love youuuu!xox
