HLS – Day 2 Highlights

Wow, finally I got to recapping day 2 of the Healthy Living Summit.

Way to get super behind on these.

This trip was some added stress on myself, and I think the stress got the best of me, because throughtout the night I got really sick, like sick to my stomach.

Not fun.

I ended up turning off my alarm clock, and just decided to let myself sleep in a little. Although, I did end up getting up at 7. I quickly ate and got ready to head downstairs and meet the others for the rest of the breakfast and ice breaker sessions that was held.

* Cait, Heather, and I getting ready for the Crossfit workout. *

* representing Fitfluential and our new Reebok shoes!  And yes, I ‘m wearing pants.*

All the sponsors were set out in an area outside the conference room, so we had lots of time to chat with all of them who set up in their booths.

It was great to get to know more about some companies I wasn’t too informed about. Reebok did an awesome job with sponsoring us, and along with our free kicks we got a Crossfit workout in as well.

They taught us the proper squat form, and we quickly did a WOD (workout of the day) that included 7 air squats and 15 jumps for 5 minutes AMRAP (as many rounds as possible).

* Heather, Brittany, Me, and Tessa after the workout *

* Meg, Cait, Heather, and I obviously had to get a picture with our awesome friend and Crossfit star, Rich Froning. *

Next up, we got to choose from 2 different sessions. I had such a hard time decided which ones I wanted to go to, because they all sounded fantastic.

I ended up going to Hosting a Virtual Challenge, Blogging with Brands, I am the Blogger in Your Neighbourhood, and Keeping Up with Social Trends.

They were all hosted by wonderful bloggers, who had a ton of knowledge on these topics (obviously). And I definitely learned and took away a lot of great things from each session.

After was lunch, a group of us decided to hit up Whole Foods again, since we weren’t sure what the food situation would be like, especially since it wasn’t that great before hand.

* Meg, Cait, Heather, and I *

I heard from a lot of people it was good, but I enjoyed my Whole Foods salad once again. I mean, it was only my second time there, so I had to make the most of it!

In between, I went back up to the room to get ready and rest a little, since my stomach was still a tad uneasy.

We ended up meeting for sushi later on, where I got to chat with so many lovely ladies I hadn’t really had the chance to get to know yet! Once again, the company was the best part.

After enjoying our sushi meals, the group decided to head for some ice cream/frozen yogurt. I’m not a fan of frozen yogurt, so I skipped on that, but wish I indulged in a little ice cream. Admittedly, this was more of a “choice” on behalf of my eating disorder, and I ended up not getting anything.

Later, we decided to head back to the hotel early and get a good nights rest before the last day. In the cab home Heather and I thought we were really cool by quoting the movie I Love You, Man for basically the entire ride back. I’m sure we were amusing.

Stay tuned for the final day!

Have you ever done Crossfit before?

Do you like sushi? What do you usually order?

Hope your all enjoying your Saturday!

  2. Omg that cab ride made my life. we’re soulmates. ;-) i love you!!!

  3. Aw, I’m sorry to hear about the stress bothering you a bit:(. But it looks like you overall had a good experience, and learnt a lot on how to keep Lisa Lately being the BOMB.
Babe, you are looking absolutely gorgeous in your fitness get-up. Seriously cracked up at the confirmation, that you are, in fact, wearing pants, baha!

Just keep working on you recovery & loving yourself girly:). I have every faith one day (soon!)you’ll be able to enjoy ice-cream with friends. You more than deserve it.
    Xxx

  4. You are doing great and the fact that you realize the areas you need to work on, makes you that much closer to overcoming your fears/anxieties!! You are so strong. Also, you have great hair, I wish I could get mine to look like that!

  5. I’m trying Crossfit on Monday!! I’m so excited!! I so wish I could have met you girls!!

    • I know same here!! I now really want to go to Blend next year! Sounds like it was so fun!!
Good luck at Crossfit! Can’t wait to hear about it.

  6. Okay… I just have to say that you look freaking beautiful in EVERY single picture of you ever :) So jealous of that gorgeous hair and cute face! Sorry you weren’t feeling good for HLS. It’s good that you kind of sucked it up and still went to all the activities, though.

I love sushi! I really like the Spider Roll, Boston Roll, California Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll. I’m not too adventurous with it yet, but I’ve been trying to order something new every time I go.

    • Awe, thanks so much Miranda!!
Ha ha, oh man I’m not adventurous at all with sushi!! I have yet to try any of those ones. I’m scared I’ll hate raw fish, but everyone says how awesome it is, so I may break out and try it next time!

  7. I actually like that your recaps are a little delayed…they’re fun to read now that the hype has died down a little bit!
You all look gorgeous, of course, and I looove your pink leggings. I’ve never tried Crossfit but a studio just opened around the corner from my apartment so I’ve been tempted to go sign up for a few sessions. We’ll see!

    • I was thinking it was maybe better to post them later so that people weren’t overwhelmed with all that HLS stuff.
Thanks beauty! You should try it out, or ask if they will let you try a class for free because your a blogger and “promote it”. I’ve heard that works well for others if you are just interested!

  8. How did you like cross fit!? I’ve never tried it, but I’m very intrigued! Love the pink pants and the reeboks. Ive never seen pink workout pants over here!

    • It was really fun! I usually do my own crossfit workouts at home, since they post the workouts online and I’m too cheap to buy a pass;)
They are just from lululemon! I love ‘em.

  9. You look so pretty in all the pictures, all the girls do!! As for sushi, it’s probably my favorite food ever. I really enjoy tuna and hamachi the best.

    • Thanks Chelsea! I need to branch out and try more sushi stuff. I always get the same thing since I don’t know if I like raw fish ha ha.

  10. I felt so badly when you didn’t feel well after our first HLS night! I hate when mental anxiety spreads and you can feel it in your body. I’m glad we had fun together taking those Reebok pics though (LOL at your pants comment) and also in the sessions! I DID get your email, I need to respond, I’m sorry I’ve been so slow on that!
I felt the way you did about the ice cream on my first night in Newport during the trip I wrote about recently. I always try to take the regret over not enjoying a dessert and make a note of it, either in my blog or in my phone or written down somewhere, so I can look back at it later and remind myself of the regret I felt over not letting myself enjoy something.
How did I just notice the little bling you have at the top of this page on the Lisa Lately logo?! I am slow. I love it!

    • It was definitely not fun, but after I have panic attacks or bad anxiety, I tend to get sick after. Not a fun thing to suffer from ha ha.
That’s okay, I understand the delay! I may take a while to answer too. I’ve been so behind in e-mails lately!
Yes, I definitely note the regret, and do try to not “regret” that I didn’t eat their. But learn from that experience.

  11. Sounds like a fun day! I like California rolls the best… I’m boring!

  12. Such cute pictures!! Love all you girls!
    xoxo

  13. i still love hearing the recaps. makes me feel like i was there.
    Great ladies too!

  14. I actually really love that you’re taking your time with these recaps! It’s even MORE fun to reminisce two weeks later. <3 But gosh, this post makes me miss you so so much! I really don't want to wait an entire year for a reunion with all of these fabulous ladies! We need to figure something out soon, k? Maybe a super low stress weekend somewhere located halfway between all of us, like South Dakota? Kiddiiinng…But Chicago might be a fun place!

I've had (lack of) dessert guilt many times before too, but just like Cait, I've found that using those memories to combat negative "don't have it!" thoughts in the moment is really helpful!

Love you so much, girl! xoxoxo <3

    • I know!! It makes me miss everyone A TON! I actually got a little teary writing these recaps up, it was so much fun to be around all these people who understand my weird foodie/exercise loves.
We definitely need to figure out something again! With lots of wine and yummy eats:)
Yes, very true to make the most from those memories and turn them around to try out the desserts the next time I get the chance! Love you beauty!xoxo
