HLS – Day 3 Highlights

Here we are…the final day of the Healthy Living Summit. Yikes, a month later.

Hope no one minds that I posted these so far apart. I didn’t want to bombard people with HLS overload.

The final day of the summit, after the run scheduled, there was a final meeting held downstairs, where we were all able to eat, chat, and say goodbye to one another.

* My fellow Fitfluential ladies; Chelsea, Heather, Meg, Cait, and Lindsay, and I *

Cait and Heather had to leave early so came to my hotel room to say goodbye. This is where all the sadness happened. They said their goodbyes and I was still able to meet a few new people at the breakfast, which was great.

* Chelsea, Meg, Lindsay, and I *

We made such fast connections with each other, and it was definitely hard to say goodbye to them.

* Chelsea and I *

We met downstairs, where I grabbed a coffee to have since I had already ate. And we all chatted while everyone was getting ready to leave.

* Me and Meg *

I went back upstairs and packed most of my things up, and went downstairs to say bye to Chelsea and Meg.

Lindsay, Sara, Katie, and I ended up having later flights so after the girls left, we went out to explore some of Boston we hadn’t had the chance of seeing yet. The weather was beautiful, so it ended up being perfect for strolling around in.

This was my first time visiting Boston, so it was nice to have some extra time to view the city. We headed to Harvard Square, and had a look around some of the stores before settling down for some lunch.

We ended up stopping at Tory Row, where Meg said she had an unbelievable grilled kale salad. Lindsay, Sara, and I all ordered that and it was just as delicious as I thought it would be. It really was tasty, must recreate.

Lindsay had to leave through lunch to catch her flight.

So, Sara, Katie, and I made our way to the Curious George store that was so sweet to look at. We got a few views of some classic novels.

My flight didn’t leave until the next day, so I got a good nights rest and packed up and made my way to the airport. I only brought a few snacks, since I thought there would be lots of options past security. Turns out I was very, very wrong. And there was only a small stand that sold a few apples and some pre-packaged soups and sandwiches that looked pretty old. Not my style.

* Salad at the airport, with cucumbers, romaine, tomatoes, peppers, shredded carrots, pickles, grilled chicken, and hummus *

I stuck with the few snacks I had and after the plane to Toronto I was starving. I grabbed a salad while waiting for my next flight to Vancouver. It ended up being a fast wait and I was on the plane before I knew it, again I didn’t take enough food so I was quite hungry on the plane.

I ended up just eating a SoyJoy bar, I grabbed from the conference and having a diet coke (yes, I enjoy these once in a blue moon) on the plane. It didn’t do too much for my hunger and I got off the plane at about 9 PM and was tired from travelling all day.

* pretty sun set from the plane! *

I made my way to the next stop, where I learned I missed my last flight, and I just burst into tears. It wasn’t pretty ha ha. The poor lady working. I was able to catch the next flight to Victoria, which was only a 45 minute wait. And the 12 minute flight (yes, just 12 minutes) went by fast. By the time I got home it was 12 AM and I had been travelling since 11 AM. I was exhausted to say the least. I immediately got home and passed out.

* last picture I took at HLS! *

That concludes all my Healthy Living Summit recap posts. Hopefully it wasn’t too brutal for everyone to read. In the end, I am so happy I decided to go. I made life long friendships with blog writers and made true connections with each person I got to speak with.

Have you ever been to Boston?

Do you plan on going to HLS next year?

Hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday!

  1. I don’t mind that you posted these recaps apart at all, iv really enjoyed reading them. Plus, I go through Lisa Lately withdrawel symptoms over the weekend, so this was nice for me:).

    You all look so fabulous,& the whole thing just looked crazy fun! I wish I could go to something like the HLS( baaaadly!). Meeting you, would like make my life, haha.
    I can only imagine how difficult leaving everyone must have been. After developing such amazing relationships & connections through blogging, then only getting to spend time in each others company for a mere few days.

    I have to say, I think you handled the whole weekend really well! As someone who hates flying, travelling alone must have been pretty scary for you. Coupled with being pushed pretty far out of your foodie comfort zone- a pat on the back is called for I think:).
    And no shame for the Diet Coke! That stuff runs through my veins, teehee.
    Xxx

    • Oh my gosh, I would love to meet you too! That would be fabulous!
      Thanks Sarah! I think I did pretty well too considering all my anxieties ha ha. Yah, I was craving the diet coke! Who cares if its filled with aspartame;)

  2. I’m really hoping I’m able to go to HLS next year!

    I definitely fall victim to the diet coke once in awhile – addictive stuff. :-p

  3. When I was coming home from Peru I was so delayed in Miami that I missed my flight from Atlanta home. I too burst into tears in front of the lady at the airline counter. I was just SO close to being home after 3 hellacious traveling days and 3 hellacious weeks in a foreign country that this final delay just totally broke me down. But stuff like that make you even more appreciative of the comforts of home!

  4. I love the idea of posting later – I personaly was on HLS overload from all the various back-to-back posts. I’m obsessed with your hair by the way – so cute!

  5. Ah! That picture of all of us makes me so happy / sad! I love it so much. And i love you so much. You’re such a trooper for flying so much. Seriously.

    PS – Linz’s booty looks FAB in those black crops. ;-) Haha!

  6. I would love to go to HLS or a similar bloggers meet-up. They look so fun :) !

  7. One day I’d love to attend an HLS conference… except, I’d have to start a blog first! Maybe one day. :-)

  8. This looks like it was such a fun time! I’m so glad you enjoyed yourself!

  9. Stephanie says:

    Hi Lisa!
    I’ve been to Boston, but honestly, I didn’t like it because it was grey and rainy out for our entire stay. I struggle with traveling because I often find myself with few healthy food options, and thus opt to eat nothing. Partly poor planning and preparation on my part, I guess. Nonetheless, it makes traveling that much more of a struggle because I typically don’t feel as optimal as I do when I get the kind of nutrition I get at home. Sorry you faced the same problem. You would think airports would offer more healthy, appetizing options, but unfortunately it’s just not the case :(
