Happenings and a Workout

Happy Monday friends!

I hope your weekend was filled with lots of fun times and relaxation mixed in there as well. It is super dreary here today…perfect weather for some chilli and baked goods to warm the heart. And of course tons of steaming cups of tea and coffee.

I am like a child when it comes to holidays. Secretly, or not so secretly now…

I love to get the decorations up for every holiday, watch movies in anticipation, and bake holiday treats. I get super duper excited when the holidays come up, you would really think I’m a 10 year old.

I can’t wait to decorate some pumpkins and get more decorations up! Of course, I had to make another trip to Michael’s to gather some “spooky items” for the house.

Yah, you can tell I’m super cool.

Of course, the weekend entailed trips to Starbucks. And making my own pumpkin spice lattes, because heck no I’m not paying above and beyond what I already spend at Starbucks.

And since the weekends are perfect for lazy meals, I prepared breakfast yesterday and woke up to a nice bowl all prepared for me when I awoke.

A bowl of perfect pumpkin oat bran, complete with 1/3 cup oat bran, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 1/2 tablespoon shelled hemp seeds, 3 egg whites, 1/3 cup pumpkin, 1/2 banana, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, stevia and peanut flour paste. Favorite.

You may be thinking I’m only eating orange foods, but I’m still getting in my much needed greens too!

Like this spinach salad, but I’ve been replacing the goat cheese with roasted spiced chickpeas. Yum!

The weekends can’t just be lazy, I made sure to get in some quality fitness today as well.

I completed a simple tabata workout, which I completed 4 rounds of.

It was a quick 20 minute workout, but oh boy my legs were burning! And it was done in my house, which I always prefer!

Check out Katie’s post today for more Marvelous Monday happenings!

Did you get any good workouts in this weekend? Or do you usually rest throughout the weekend?

Do you get excited about holidays as well?

Have an awesome Monday!

  7. The blueberry salad sounds so good. I love spinach salads. On Saturday I ran for 45 minutes on the treadmill and then I took Sunday off. Today I think I’ll do your Tabata workout because I don’t have too much time in my schedule. Have a great day Lisa!!

  9. Looks like a great weekend and in the spirit as well. I feel so lame not decorating!

  10. Lisa, Happy Marvelous Monday! Your meals look so tasty AND I can’t wait to try that tabata workout…quick and effective. So, what is your Starbucks order?

  11. Um, I just want to hug you … seeing that picture of you holding the ghost! WAH. MOVE OUT OF CANADA NOW. ;-)

    • Ha ha. I’m such a nerd;) My sister was like oh my gosh you are so embarrassing ha ha. I have no shame. I so wish I could move out of Canada and be closer to all my bloggy friends!

  12. Holiday season is here! halloween-thanksgiving-xmas-newyears. I just roll them all into one, long, 3-month holiday!! So excited!!!!

  13. Sounds like a lovely weekend to me Lisa! Great job on making your own pumpkin spice lattes too, a whole lot cheaper for sure :) I need to do some decorating, I have yet to do any!
Also, love the workout, I haven’t done tabata in awhile because it’s a bit too intense for me right now. But I hope to get back to it soon :)

  14. I need to pull out my oat bran!! You have me craving haha I’m so excited for the holidays :D LOVE Halloween, Thanksgiving (mainly for being off lol) and I LOVE the anticipation of Christmas :)

  15. I usually workout on the weekends for sure just because I have more time on my hands. I like to take a rest day on Wednesday or Thursday, especially if I have a lot of homework or work to do!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the holiday season – sooo much fun and happiness!

Seriously though, you and I share an oat bran addiction – I have it like everyday with pumpkin. I am a creature of habit for sure!

  16. I totally love roasted c hickpeas OMG! When Heather came to visit once she taught my mom how to make them and now my mom and I are in loooove. The blueberries and spinach sound great in t hat salad too though I’d be adding chickpeas and keeping in that goat cheese because to me once I go goat, I can’t go back :P ya knowwww.

You look so beautiful in that pic with the ghost. I LOVE holiday decorations! You’ve been wearing your hair straight a lot lately and I’m a big fan. Do you straighten it more because the air is drier? Because I have been finding that.

    • Aren’t they just the greatest! Love ‘em too! Oh yes, goat cheese is one of my weaknesses for sure, I just didn’t have any at the time. Thank you my love! Yeah, I’ve been straightening it more because of the temperature and also thought I should change it up a bit;)

  17. I get super excited over the holidays as well… no shame! The only thing that keeps me from going all out with decorations is the fact that I live in an apartment and my storage space is kind of limited so there’s nowhere to keep the decor off season :( When it comes to Christmas, though, all bets are off. I love the Christmas season and end up going a little crazy with decorations, baking, carolling, etc. Speaking of which, Christmas is coming up pretty fast! Eeeee! I can’t wait!

    • Oh girl, you should see my place its TINY. Ha ha. I barely have any room at all, but I make it happen;) Ahhh, I know I am so pumped for Christmas! Even though its 2 months away…its never too early;)

  18. Yes, that breakfast is perfect. I just totally look forward to eating eggy oatbran bowls.
I love that you’re so festive:). And are those purple skinny jeans( they look purple on my screen anyway) you’re wearing? I love them, & they have a hint of the haloweeny about them.

I done some Bodyrock this weekend, as a Bodyrock newbie, I’m still in an obsessed phase with it. I wanna do it all the time! I done Zwow 18 ,it’s an absolute favourite of mine.
Your workout looks awesome, full of great moves,(well, except that box/tuck jump segment- that has got to be a killer & make 50 seconds feel like an eternity:p).
    Xxx

    • Yep, they’re purple jeans!! I love ‘em. They actually match the ghosts boo sign ha ha. I thought that was pretty awesome. I love ZWOW’s they are so much fun!

  19. I probably get Starbucks twice a week, yet still, every single time I absolutely scoff at a grande soy latte with a pump of pumpkin spice bieng over $5. Ridiculous! But I still love it… :)

  20. I love decorating for the holidays!! That looks like one killer tabata!

  21. I love holidays too! I am not a fan of dressing up for halloween though…I guess I am lazy in that aspect ;)

    • I’m not too creative with costumes, I usually put them together last minute. I figure I make up for it with going crazy with all the decorating ha ha.

  22. I try to take a rest on Sundays, but I’ve been having to travel for work so I’ve had to shift days. Boo!

    LOVE sumo squats!

  23. I love all the festivity in this post!! It’s never ever too early to start celebrating, and it’s also impossible to go too overboard with the decorations. I can’t decide if you or the ghost you’re holding is cuter! :-p

Homemade pumpkin spice lattes have been on my food bucket list list for over a year. Even though they’re super easy to make and I always have the ingredients on hand, it just hasn’t happened yet! I’m sure I’m missing out BIG time…How much pumpkin do you use?

I’ve gone goat cheese-less for the #plantPOWER challenge, and I’m missing it SO much! Maybe roasted chickpeas will squash the cravings? ;)

I almost always get in some exercise over the weekend, however I like to take a complete break from the gym if the weather is nice. I’ll usually go for a run on Saturday, and then opt for something super low key on Sunday, like a walk, bike ride, or light hike.

    Love you, Lisa!!! <2

    • Agreed! Ha ha love it. I think the ghost wins;) I just use 1 tablespoon of pumpkin, otherwise I find the texture is weird! Ha ha I would miss goat cheese too! I always get sad when I run out. Oh yes, I agree about the gym when the weather is nice. I don’t run, but I’ll always chose a walk over being stuck inside! Loveee you!
