Morning everyone! Time for another addition of What I Ate Wednesday.
I am always up pretty early, I was very satisfied with the fact that I was able to sleep in until 7 over the weekend. Once Monday hits, its like clock work back to waking up at 5.
So, this morning I wasn’t surprised when I was up at 4:30. Spin didn’t start until 5:45, so I just got there super early. Well, not super early since the gym doesn’t open until 5:30… When I left it was still pitch black outside. It feels so weird to have my workout done before the sun even rises! But, I also love it.
When I returned home, it was eating time! Last night I prepared a batch of pancakes to have this morning. A pumpkin and blueberry oat pancake. I haven’t had regular oats in forever!
Oat pancake made with oatmeal, egg whites, a little pumpkin, frozen blueberries, baking powder, stevia, pumpkin pie spice, and flax seeds. Roasted almond butter finished it off.
Sorry for the slightly burnt pancake picture. I realize that’s not the most visually awesome pancake you’ve seen, but regardless it was delicious.
Usually on days that I go to spin I am never ever hungry. I guess the cardio supreses my appetite or something. It’s odd. Anyways, I broke into lunch a while later…
I made another batch of tempeh masala, but this time I added leftover millet instead of the quinoa. This afternoon, I got to looking around and realized I’ve been seriously neglecting some housework. You know the awful stuff like cleaning the edges around the sink and cleaning the faucet and all that silly stuff. I finally did that, but got a serious headache from all those chemicals. I guess I had a headache to start out, but it didn’t help things at all. That type of labor always getting my appetite revving.
Snack -
A new batch of pumpkin bread (made a little different this time), spread with some raw cashew butter and strawberry slices!
Okay, I think it’s finally time to hang up the strawberries and move on to more seasonal eats, like apples. No complaints here, I love honeycrisp apples!
It’s odd how spin class can make me feel almost normal and housework causes me a lot of hunger…that doesn’t sound right does it?
For dinner I wasn’t really in the mood for much, darn missing appetite again…
Dinner -
I just decided to roll with a simple piece of ezekiel bread topped with mashed avocado and a side of Amy’s low sodium split pea soup…
I’m in need of new dinner recipes I think! I don’t usually like relying on pre made meals, but sometimes you just need something easy!
Now, I’m going to spend a few moments with my family and catch up on a few things I’ve been neglecting!
And I may or may not be enjoying some coconut milk ice cream before bed later:)
What are some of your favorite dinner recipes? Feel free to leave links! I need some inspiration from you all!
Do certain types of exercise leave you with no appetite?
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I love spin! It is so hard to go with my girls, but I love it!!! Weights always make me hungry and swimming. Big runs etc suppress my appetite.
I always found the days I did higher intensity workouts I never had an appetite. So weird??
That is strange! I think that has happened to me sometimes, but sometimes I was also insatiable so I don’t even know haha
Everything looks delicious, especially the tempeh masala!
If I exercise really hard I’m usually not hungry right after, but later my appetite is roaring! However, hungry or not, I always make sure to eat after a workout since that’s the best time to refuel!! And easy dinner meals? Crockpot, baby!
I am never hungry after I run (which isn’t very often thank goodness… LOL).
That split soup sounds very warm and comforting though. A perfect dinner for fall!
My favorite dinner recipes are: low fat chicken and dumplings, vegetable chili, lean beef goulash and an unhealthy but super tasty recipe >>>> bubble pizza.
I’m the complete opposite! On days I have intense workouts I am a bottomless pit!
Totally understand the not being hungry after spin! I’m never hungry right after I workout but it usually catches up with me later in the day and my appetite comes back!
I totally was the same way when I did spin classes. Usually, after about an hour though, my appetite would resurface! Good for you for still fueling your body, girlie! It’s important for us to keep getting what our bodies need.
I am dying to try Annie’s soups, especially the split pea. Looks so good
Workouts always increase my appetite, but I havne’t had an appetite in a while. I think it is sinus drainage! I have been making lots of crockpot meals!
I couldn’t agree more- I usually leave a workout with no appetite (even if I was hungry before) and housework makes me starving. So funny!
I’m usually never hungry right after I finish working out, but then it hits me like a truck either later on in the day, or the next day. Housework, on the other hand, makes me absolutely ravenous. I swear, sometimes I think housework is a better workout than actually going to the gym, but I have to agree that all of those little detail tasks are just the worst.
I actually haven’t had an appetite all week.. it’s kinda annoying but I figure it’s just the weather lol I know when I do a long run I’m usually not hungry which is weird since it should be the other way around lol
When I do intense workouts (think Crossfit-esque), I’m never hungry afterwards.
Have you tried all-natural and chemical free cleaning products? Or cleaning with vinegar and baking soda, etc?
I feel the same way after spin or a really long run. Today I went to spin at 9:00 and I’m just now getting around to eating again.
For dinner lately I’ve been loving winter vegetables. Butternut squash, kale (eating a bowl of sauteed kale right now), sweet potatoes… yum!
Long runs totally halt my appetite, but then it comes back angry either later in the evening or the next day. I’m learning that I need to eat regularly so I don’t binge later. Actually doing that today!
I like my pancakes a little burnt, so I think your picture looks just fine.
Everything looks so tasty to me, yup, even the pancake. Maybe you could make your own lentil soup or autumnul soup, using your Amys stand-by as dinner inspiration( then share the recipe with me!). Or something like that. Not that there’s anything wrong with pre-made food once in a while. Your ability to whip up fantastic, healthy meals&snacks from scratch all the time totally impresses me!
I stuck to my word & made your pumkin bread with butternut squash. Iv been enjoying it all week:). I actually really like baking with chia, gives a good texture I think. The bread has a nice crispy exterior, and MOIST( yes, moist moist moist) ,fluffy insides, really flavourful too. I like it best spread with melty cashew butter, and all the crumbies I got when slicing it up, were sprinkled over oat bran
, delicious.
Xxx
I keep a stash of Amy’s minestrone and lentil soup in the cupboard for days when I have desire to do anymore than open a can when it comes to dinner. Absolutely nothing wrong with premade food once in a while!
I’m having a hard time letting go of my strawberries! They are a favorite of mine, but the prices just keep going up as we move into fall! Guess I’ll have to stick with frozen and get used to eating apples
.
Apparently I took your appetite for you – I’ve been STARVING!!!
When I was running a lot more than I am now of course, longer-distance runs used to really kill my appetite. Which my twisted brain liked because then I felt like I didn’t have to eat anything afterward and therefore lose weight! ughh little did I understand that I was breaking down my body slowly but surely
Your meals look just as good as always, well perhaps the breakfast is a tad burned, but I actually like food like that times
