Hey friends, hope you’re having a great weekend so far!
Did anyone get some good items Black Friday shopping? I must admit, I definitely got sucked in from a few websites.
Dang those tricky sales.
Seeing as it’s the weekend, I think its appropriate I keep it low key with another survey.
1. First thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Check the time and make sure it’s appropriate to get out of bed. Usually it’s not. I wake up way too many times throughout the night.
Chug water, then I usually grab my phone, avoid looking at any missed calls/texts/twitter messages. I suck at social media.
Then, it really depends on the mornings, usually Monday to Friday I grab my (already laid out) gym clothes, brush teeth, slip into my gym shoes and drive over to the gym, or workout at home.
Coffee always follows next!
2. First thing you reach for when you open the fridge?
In the morning? Breakfast!
After I workout, I’m pretty much ready for my next meal so that happens first and foremost. I’m not pleasant without fuel.
Obviously, Lunch and Dinner I most likely grab the veggies first from the fridge, to start preparing.
3. First things you do when you go to the gym?
Check in, run upstairs and hide my face from all my morning gym go-er friends.
I’m sure I don’t look too appealing first thing in the morning. Especially when coming out of the gym. Yikes.
I don’t understand those who don’t leave sweaty messes. One of my friends just doesn’t sweat, no matter how hard she works and I’m slightly jealous of this fact. I sweat like crazy (I’m sure you all wanted to know this).
4. First thing you do you when you get home from work?
Since I get home late, I change into PJ’s instantly. Then snack, since I’m most likely starving. At this point it’s around 10:30 or 11, and yep I still eat then. I have to eat Dinner around 4, so by this point I’m pretty darn hungry.
5. First car.
I got my license later in life, since I was afraid to drive. I guess I was 18 when I finally got my drivers license.
And since I was living in Calgary, my whole family contributed so I got a (used) BMW, it’s pretty old though. I still have that baby to this day!
6. First car accident / traffic violation.
Never had a traffic violation or been in an accident. Go me! Clearly I’m an awesome driver.
Actually, I overheard my sister and parents making fun of me one day, since apparently I drive like an “old lady”, that was awkward.
Oh wait, I got pulled over once, since my insurance expired (oops), but luckily the officer told me to just quickly drive home.
7. First thing you wanted to be when you grew up?
Oh god, this could be a very long list.
I wanted to be an orthodontist, dentist; basically anything to do with teeth.
* clearly I chose this simply because Christmas is coming up *
Does that make me weird?
Also things like “a famous person”, veterinarian, marine biologist; you know things I’d never do now.
8. First choice beverage.
I have three. I guess that’s cheating, isn’t it? Oh well. Water, then my beloved cup of coffee, and lastly wine!
9. First choice breakfast.
Tough call. I love all breakfast foods. I’d definitely have to say my top picks are oat bran and buckwheat.
Pancakes are probably a pretty popular option, but I find I do better with oat bran or buckwheat.
Just my preference!
You can basically have any flavour and add anything to these to make an awesome meal. However, oats always need toppings. I’m talking to you nut butter.
10. First choice dessert.
I’m not a huge dessert fan, for some reason. I guess I’d have to pick either coconut milk ice cream or does wine count as dessert?
Wine would win.
11. First song that comes to mind.
Is it embarrassing that I like Justin Beiber’s Christmas album? Yes, okay. Let’s forget that question then.
12. First major purchase.
Wow, I can’t really remember everything. I don’t think this would be anything major, but I totally remember the first pay check I ever got and being able to buy my own clothes without asking my parents for money. I felt pretty darn cool.
13. First job.
I had lots of little jobs, I guess besides babysitting, my first job was working at Orange Julius ha. It was probably one of the worst things ever.
Man, there was drama going on in that place.
14. First time you flew on a plane.
My other family members live in Toronto, so when I was a lot younger (probably 2 or so), we used to visit my Aunt, Uncle and Grandma, although I don’t remember those trips at all now.
What are some of your firsts?
Answer any of these questions!
Have an excellent weekend!

I’m one of those strange people that doesn’t sweat in the gym too. I’m actually kind of envious of the people who CAN work up a good sweat, because it always makes me feel like I’m not getting a good workout in
It was to be like +30 out before I even get any kind of glisten. And I can’t believe you wanted to work with teeeeeeth! I mean, that’s awesome and all, but the dentist terrifies me so working with teeth would be completely out of the picture for me!
I remember you saying you didn’t like the dentist! What can I say, I’m a weirdo;)
First choice breakfast is an omelette and toast with jam, first choice drink is definitely coffee
I love exercising first thing in the morning! It totally wakes me up and makes me feel fit and happy before I even start my day
I have to say though, I am a fitness junkie, but I HATE spinning, I don’t know why!! I wish I liked it though, I’m glad you’ve found a passion for it!
Oh, and of course I love oat bran! Hence why I did an entire post about it yesterday… http://healthinequilibrium.blogspot.ca/2012/11/i-love-my-oats.html Haha, yeah, I’m obsessed
I love that you have a post about it! Yes! I feel the same way about running, I can’t get into it!
Sweaty’s unit!!
Gosh, I am the sweatiest person, like EVER! At the gym I sweat more than the huge dudes , & people actually come up to me, JUST to inform me I sweat a lot. I’m like , thanks:/. LOL.
My 1st choice dessert right now? Hands down your pumpkin fudge:). I made some more of it today in fact. I have it for breakfast dessert, lunch dessert, dinner dessert, afternoon snack dessert…basically, that fudge is off.the.hook.
I like this Saturday survey tradition thing you’ve kinda got going on here:).
Xxx
Ha ha, That has happened to me too! People will be like wow you sweat. Really, I had no clue;) Pumpkin fudge has become on obsession for me too! I’ve been eating it night and day! I know I’m a Saturday survey junkie!
What a fun post! My first car was a white charade, tiny thing. Loved it soooo much! I had it for 7 years until it died in my first car accident. Awful! Haha
That is a bunch of good firsts! Especially the car, sweet ride! First thing I do when I get home from work? Let my bulldog out and try to calm her down, she is always so excited, then give a big hug and go about my evening…great way to start it!
Bulldogs are super cute! I want a dog so bad. Sounds like a pretty good evening!
Haha so many of these answers are true for me too! Especially about checking my phone first thing in the morning to see if it’s an acceptable time to get up. Lately I’ve been getting up at 5:30 and I just can’t fall back asleep after that!
Also my family says I drive like an old lady too.
Whatever, it’s better than driving like a hooligan and getting in a car crash!
I’ve been getting up at that time too! And going to bed late…its a bad combo! Ha ha, so awesome that we are both grandma drivers;)
I sweat a ton too girl! I’m so jealous of your friend!
Wanting to do something with teeth isn’t weird at all. I’m a dental hygienist so I totally approve!
I’ve been looking into dental hygiene for so long now! I should chat with you about it!:)
Things I wanted to be when I grew up: a wife and mom, a ballerina, an author, a veterinarian, a mathematician or physicist. Most of all I wanted to make the world a more beautiful place.
First thing in the morning: breastfeed, then yoga, then breakfast.
I hope you’re having a great weekend, Lisa!
I LOVE that you wanted to make the world a beautiful place!! That is amazing. I also wanted to be a ballerina! I forgot about that one! Hope you are enjoying your week!
Aww, thanks, Lisa!
I sweat like a pig, too. hahaha yum! I always look scary at the gym but I don’t even care. I’m there to workout, not socialize! I would FOR SURE pick wine over dessert. I thought that was weird, too. Thankfully, we have each other to be weird with haha ;D
Same here. If people come up to me while I’m working out I get slightly annoyed ha. Weirdos together!
Surveys are always fun! I feel like I’ve been doing too many recently… but I just can’t stop!
That’s totally not weird that you like Justin Bieber’s Christmas CD. He is a very talented singer; it’s just the whole hype that comes with him that seriously confuses me.
I’d have to say that babysitting is my first and only job so far. I’ve babysat from 8 to 4 the past two summers and work at my church sometimes as a nursery supervisor. Definitely teaches you patience, huh?
I’m the same, it think it’s a good weekly tradition! I like getting to know people better through surveys. Oh yes, babysitting teaches tons of patience!!
Tell me about sweat! I sweat so much (sorry) especially in spinning classes. It’s gross but I think it is also a great detox effect. Favorite dessert? Swiss chocolate, haha!
Yay survey!
I’m kind of in-between on the sweatiness issue…I have to have a really good cardio workout to get sweaty! If I’m going all out on the treadmill, I’ll get glisteny; but if I’m walking/easy running, ellipticalling, or strength training, I probably won’t. Useful for me!
And I didn’t get my license until I was 21…no shame :-p
Yay for late drivers!
That’s pretty awesome that you got a BMW as your first car.
Hmm my first major purchase was a Coach purse that I got with baby sitting money and it was $290 which was a small fortune back in the summer before 9th grade lol
Have a lovely day Lisa <3
Wow that is a major purchase for a 9th grader! Ha ha. You had great taste even back then. Can’t say the same for me!
If it makes you feel any better…I NEVER look good when I go to the gym in the morning. Sometimes I almost scare myself!
But hey, I figure what is the point of putting effort into it when I plan on showering afterwards…I am a low effort kind of gal.
hahah id get home sometimes after the gym and see myself in the mirror and be like wtff and i actually conversed with people today looking like this lol and coffee water and beer would be my drinks ! gotta get the alc in there somewhere lol
Ha ha that’s hilarious Kaity!I feel the same sometimes. Agree with those drinks.
I love Justin Bieber’s Christmas CD!!! It’s seriously so good. Actually, I just love Justin Bieber in general..no shame!!
I agree! SO good!
My first real job was at First Watch… a breakfast/lunch place.. I was a hostess then later became a waitress… I still love that place to this day!!
That’s awesome that you still love it! And that it was a great place to work.
I also was terrified to drive and didn’t finally get my license until I was 19. I still don’t like to drive much thought.
I’m kind of the same now. I much prefer others to drive for me:)
i have to have coffee first, before anything! and yes, wine at night. Okay i don’t have to but i want to! hehe
Agreed Lindsay:)
I LOVE Justin Bieber’s Christmas album! I listened to it on repeat on my way back to DC yesterday. Delta has free in-flight entertainment, and that was one of the featured CD’s. I might need to buy it now. :O
Girl, if anyone sucks at social media, it’s me. Haha! I am the girl who replies to a tweet two days later. Better late than never though, right?
I’m a huge coconut milk ice cream fan (you already know this), but might have to agree that wine wins. However only if it’s fruity and sweet. I love my sangria!
First song that comes to mind: “Frosty the Snowman.” I’m so cool. In my defense, it’s what’s playing in Starbucks right now! Love you! <3 xoxo
I’ve been listening to it on repeat just about everyday now! I wonder when I’ll get sick of it ha. Is it sad I’m looking forward to watching that old classic Frosty sometime in the near future. I love those good ol’ Christmas classics. Love YOU!
My first choice breakfast is almost always oatmeal! Sweet, healthy, and comforting.
