Hey all! Thanks to Jenn for hosting another round of What I Ate Wednesday!
Somehow the day has flown by even though I wasn’t expecting that at all.
I ended up finally getting into bed at 10 PM. For the first time in like a year and was pumped that I’d end up getting an awesome night sleep before spin in the morning. Well, low and behold I managed to wake up at 2:30 and didn’t fall asleep again until 4:30 which was pretty pointless, since my alarm goes off at 5.
Now, I’m crazy tired, but somehow managed not to nap at all.
We had the best spin class this morning, super challenging but went by crazy fast, which is just how I like them. I finished my workout craving eggs and almond butter. Random, but I went with it.
Breakfast -
2 slices ezekiel, almond butter, an egg cooked in a touch of coconut oil, and a carrot, yes a carrot on the side.
It feels weird not having a fruit or veggie with breakfast, so I always include one.
Even if it sounds odd.
I went to grab a coffee, since I was dying of tiredness at this point.
After I got my coffee, I filmed a vlog that I may or may not post tomorrow. It’s that accent one, but I always feel odd on camera. We’ll see if that gets up;)
Lunch ended up being leftovers from the other night. Today was clearly a lazy day in the kitchen.
Lunch -
I simply reheated some leftover spaghetti squash I had from the other night, marinara, and a piece of baked local organic chicken. With a side of avocado.
Delicious.
I keep on going through periods of dealing with intense stomach pain and I’m having a hard time diagnosing what is actually causing it.
I went and got an allergy test, so hopefully that will shine a light on anything that I may be having issues with.
Snack -
I didn’t want to overload my stomach with too much, so I just ate a pumpkin protein bar.
Then it started poring outside, I mean I shouldn’t be surprised, I live in the rainiest city ever, but I still would totally prefer snow to rain!
Nothing like a little rain to put some pep in your step. I actually hate to drive in the rain so I almost didn’t go grocery shopping, but decided I should just suck it up.
I ended up going and scored because there was no line at all.
When Dinner rolled around and the rain was still going, it seemed like the perfect weather to enjoy a nice bowl of soup.
Dinner -
Enter parsnip and sweet potato soup.
Yum.
I could eat this all day. Root vegetables are the greatest!
Now if you excuse me, Dexter is calling my name. When that stud muffin calls, I go. Got to catch up on my favorite show!
And I’ll enjoy it alongside a cup of Banana Nut Bread Tea! With another snack later obviously.
I actually usually end up eating my biggest meal at night. I know a lot of programs, plans, people say not to eat at night.
It works for me though, especially since I workout first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach.

Haha, same here with the Vlog! Especially because I am Swiss and my English probably sounds weird. Besides that I do not have that many readers so I feel really odd talking to ‘nobody’
I am so with you in terms of workouts and food. I workout first thing in the morning without food and have a bigger meal at night. So far works for me. I only eat before workout if I have a double workout day and add a second one after work – sometimes I’ll have a pre-workout snack then, depending on my appetite.
Awe, I bet your accent is awesome! I just can’t imagine eating at 5 AM…even when I was a competitive swimmer I could never stomach food before morning practices.
I workout in the morning, so I usually don’t eat before. If I’m up for awhile before I hit the gym, then yes I do eat!

I’m sorry you’ve had stomach pains and hope the allergy test will give you a clue on what it might be. When will you get the results?
For me it depends on the day what time I’m working out at. Most days I don’t have the time before class but I do enjoy going for a run in the morning when I can. Makes me feel “fresher” and more awake all throughout the day.
I fnd I’m doing better not eating before morning workouts. As for eating at night I do it every.single.night. Why a lot of plans recommend against it therefore is beyond me
. I guess as long as one’s still getting enough sleep to digest it should be fine.
I think they said it takes 3 weeks, so unfortunately I have to wait a while! I know, I can’t get over the don’t eat at night…it’s not like it magically turns into fat;)
I always eat my biggest meal at night too! It’s just when I get the hungriest. That lunch combo sounds amazing too! For workouts I am a morning workout person. I can workout at night I just really don’t prefer too. Most of the time I like to start my day with a workout!
Me too. I find if I miss a workout I will be SO exhausted the rest of the day. Kind of bizarre.
I tend to workout in the evening. I would love to workout in the morning but I need to be at work at 7 AM so morning workouts just don’t work with my schedule.
Oh yikes, yah that would be brutal to work out earlier than that;)
I work out mid afternoon, so I usually eat an hour or two before and then have a snack afterwards. Seems to be working well for me!
I might have to play around with picmonkey a little bit…I think the Christmas effects are cute! (we can be 6 year old together :-p)

I love working out in the morning. I’m too tired at the end of the day and things can always pop up, so it’s better to just take care of business ASAP. I don’t think your breakfast is random at all. I’ve been all about random combos lately. You just have to go with it.
I’m the exact same way. Too exhausted at the end of the day. Agreed:)
I am such a morning person so a full night of sleep is necessary! glad you got that 10 pm bed time
That leftover lunch looks so freaking good. I’m LOling at the Snowman perched atop your fridge. Hey, little guy! Oh it’s snowflake-ing in Lisa’s house! You’re too funny. I also eat my biggest meal at night! I used to feel guilty about that because I feel like the world kinda tells us that doing that will make us gain weight. But I actually prefer my heartier dinners and I love going to bed feeling satisfied and content and cozy!
Ha ha. I know, I’m so cool;) It’s so funny how the media can really get under our skin that way, but it seems like a lot of people eat their biggest meal before bed! I so agree. I don’t know why, but I just prefer to have the most calories before bed. The media can suck it;)
I eat a large evening snack before bed, too. First thing in the morning workouts here as well! Gotta fuel up for them!

Good luck with your allergy test. I’ve taken two so far… I just hope you don’t end up being allergic to as many things as me. Haha. But even if you are allergic to everything under the sun, I’m here for ya!

Nah I’ve watched your vlogs, the ‘ oddness’ is in your head, you are just lovely on camera! But I’d like to challenge you on your living in the rainiest city theory. I live in SCOTLAND, I am sure we have you guys beat on the misery-guts weather( unfortunately). Way to put a downer on our mood & productivity, am’ I right?

Agreed. That soup is oh-so delicious & moreish. When i make it, I can not help taking multiple mouthfuls straight from the pan. It’s a miracle if any makes it to the bowl really:).

Maybe we have a tie on the bad weather ha ha. It rains almost daily, I swear. I’m the same, I’m surprised I even get a bowl of soup in front of me;)
haha i love it. i could actually spend hours of pic monkey!! it is sooo addicting.
sometimes i eat before my workouts, depending on the time of day. i would rather get it over with first thing in the morning but that definitely does not always happen over here!! i crave plain animal crackers after my cardio workouts and chocolate milk after yoga!? haha
I mostly work out I the morning and never eat beforehand just because it’s too damn early! I’m not always hungry afterwards but I try to eat straight away anyway. It works for me. Rain is so depressing. We get a lot in Britain and its just so miserable. At least snow has a Christmas feel to it!

But I know what you mean about feeling weird on camera – it’s the same for me. I’m still really tempted to do that vlog myself, though… we’ll see. And girl, I’m definitely feeling you on the sleep deprivation. I haven’t been getting more than 5 or 6 hours a night for a while now and I think it’s starting to catch up to me. At least there’s Starbucks!
I actually posted it ha. Do it!!! I’d love to see you on video. Looks like we’re in the same sleeping boat issues. Man, it’s killing me with the 4-6 hours per night. Agreed, Starbucks is my saviour!
Oh please post that vlog tomorrow!!! I would love it! I eat something small before working out since I usually work out after work. Then I eat a big dinner after working out!

Posted it:) I’m always starving after workouts too, well actually cardio sometimes kills my appetite and weights also makes me ravenous!
I can usually stomach something before gym workouts, but if I’m running, I like to go on an empty stomach cause I’m prone to get cramps and such!

I usually don’t eat before my workouts because I usually workout right when I wake up. *before the brain realizes what I’m doing* hehe

I don’t think I have the previous photo thing. I think you just have to go to the main page and click on different posts, which I just realized is super annoying ha ha. I’ll try to fix that right away!
Parsnips are the worlds most under-rated vegetable. I roast them in coconut oil and cinnamon and for some reason that makes them taste like nut butter to me…it’s awesome. I eat a huge breakfast before I work out and a huge meal before bed, lol. Everyone’s got different needs. But everyone should eat parsnips
Oh my gosh, coated in coconut oil makes them taste amazing!! Now I need to try them with cinnamon too:) I agree, everyone should eat parsnips! Totally underrated and amazing.
Night Time = FEAST… LOL. I actually skip breakfast all together these days because working out on an empty stomach works far better for my digestion (don’t ask, lol).
And I completely agree, when that stud muffin calls, you MUST attend to it, you don’t want it to get burnt
Ha. I feel the same, working out on an empty stomach just seems to work better for me. Even if I eat 2 hours before a workout, I can still feel gross during it. Night time eating just works for me:)
