Good Morning friends! Happy Monday!
I missed posting this weekend and instead enjoyed the weekend off working on some upcoming things, just get ready for better things happening over here:)
Can you even believe December is already here?! Insane. I’ll have my November favorite things post up tomorrow, so stay tuned for that.
I excitedly welcome this Monday, since I have a few plans for this week that I’m quite looking forward to. It’s also fresh start Monday, so leave those troubles in the past and focus on all the positive happening right now!
I started the weekend with one of my favorite fresh juices.
Into the vitamix went spinach, a little kale, cucumber, 1/2 an avocado, a splash of fresh orange juice, apple cider vinegar, water and 1/2 an apple.
I love apples this time of year, but since finding out I have a mild allergy to them, I’ve had to ease up on my intake.
The only way I seem to be able to tolerate them thus far is blended.
Dinner on Saturday. Ugly, yes. Delicious, yes. Spaghetti squash, and roasted broccoli slaw in my vegan cheese sauce.
It’s so easy to make and fantastic for a vegan meal option.
Vegan Cheese Sauce (one serving)
- 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
- 2 teaspoons cashew butter
- 1.5 tablespoons nutritional yeast
- a little pinch of paprika
- 1 tablespoon water
First, combine the coconut oil, cashew butter and water in a bowl and microwave for about 20 seconds (until slightly melted). Next, combine the rest of the ingredients until a thick sauce is formed. Once your vegetables are done cooking, add them into the finished sauce.
How cute is my cat?
I found her huddled up in a random blanket on the floor. I heart her.

In honour of cleansing my mind from negativity, I happily got my meditation on. As much as I don’t always have the motivation to meditate when I’m in that headspace, I come out feeling a bazillion times better. For real.
I was feeling very anxious about some upcoming things; instead of sitting in that negativity, I connected with my inner self, slowed my mind, relaxed and flowed in the positive energy for the rest of the day!
Just like my beautiful friend Heather would say, “stop, drop and meditate.” Love that girl to pieces.
* this has nothing to do with meditation, I’m just trying to fill the picture-less void *
The whole idea of meditation can be intimidating if you haven’t practiced before, but I promise it gets better everytime you engage with your authentic self.
I mean, let’s face it the holidays can be stressful, so it really is the perfect time to introduce some yoga or meditation into your lifestyle!
Speaking of Christmas time, we finally finished decorating around the house.
Now we just have the outside to decorate.
I also posed with my Starbucks coffee cup in front of the tree, because we all know I’m really awesome. And obsessed with Starbucks.
Maybe I need some sort of coffee intervention. And yikes, I need my roots done.
My sister wouldn’t be in the photo with me, because she’s too cool for that.
On Sunday, after easing into December with decorations and a bit of holiday baking (stay tuned for more on that). I let myself get totally emerged in the holiday spirit by watching my all time favorite Christmas movie, Elf.
Let’s be honest, anything with Will Ferrell is instantly hilarious. I swear even just seeing his face makes me laugh because he is just so darn funny.
You better bet I’ll be watching this movie more than once before Christmas.
*******
On another tangent, for Christmas I really want to ask for a better camera. You know, so I can stop using my i-phone/digital camera. And so that my picture quality can improve, plus you can enjoy my blog and pictures more this way!
Does anyone have any good camera recommendations? Also be in mind I’m not really camera smart. So a “professional camera” that’s easy enough to use for someone completely camera dumb would be amazing;) Let me know!
What were some happenings about your weekend?
Favorite eats?
Do you practice meditation?
Check out my lovely friend Katie’s blog for more marvelous happenings!
Have a beautiful day!

Love what you said about meditation! I totally agree. I used to not meditate when I had to travel in the train in the morning and with all this hectic on the stations I got so stressed and felt awful all day. Now I meditate in the train and its’ so much better! It surely looks superstupid, but I don’t care really
Haha. I always feel I look dumb too, but I don’t care it makes me feel good!
Glad you came out feeling much better after mediation. Isn’t it amazing how just taking a short moment from your day to just sit down, think & clear your mind can do complete wonders?!!
All of your Christmas decorations look great! Is this weird, but I can’t get over BLUE your eyes are. My goodness girl!
Have a wonderful Monday =)
It’s such an amazing and great feeling! Thanks love! Hope you have a wonderful day sweetie!
I have never tried meditation but when I had my palm read and did a card reading, the guy was all “you need to meditate.” Hah!
I think I might be the only person alive that can’t stand Will Ferrell.
Haha. That’s so funny. Meditation is great once you get into it! I think you may be!
#1 I want your cat!!!!
#2 You are GORGEOUS. And your tree? So pretty!
#3 I loved when you said this: “leave those troubles in the past and focus on all the positive happening right now!” AMEN!!! Such a simple reminder yet so essential
Have a fabulous start to your December Lisa! <3
You are the sweetest ever!!
I can’t WAIT to watch Elf with my Dad this year!! It has been a tradition of ours for a few years now
I’m also going to make working on meditation one of my goals for this year. I am much happier when I slow down and live in the moment, so I’m going to do it more often!!
I think your pictures are great despite what camera you use! I love love love my Canon Rebel DSLR. It’s amazing
I cannot wait to go home so I can have a decorated house!
Definitely researching that one! I’m excited for you to get home and get in the Christmas spirit too:)
your green juice looks so good. jealous of your vitamix!
i think it’s so amazing that you’re making a point to meditate during a crazy time of year.
elf is one of my faves!
It’s definitely made me less stressed that I’ve actually been using my free time to meditate. Thank goodness! Elf will always be in the top best Christmas movies ever. The vitamix was honestly the best purchase I’ve made!
Elf is my favorite! I’m reading spirit junkie now thanks to Heather’s recommendation and am loving it! I never thought I’d be one to meditate but sometimes it just helps to take a moment and really focus on easing the anxiety! Happy Monday Lisa!
That book is amazing! Fell in love with it while reading. Happy weekend beautiful!
The picture of you holding your lil red cup in front of the Christmas tree= marvellous!!!!! Love that you had a holiday-filled weekend and didn’t let the anxiety take over! Meditation is awesome and is like exercise- the more you do it, the better you get and the deeper you can go. Have a great Monday, Lisa!
So true! Happy weekend Lauren!
I am so jealous that you have a Vitamix! That is one of my dream kitchen appliances.
Your vegan cheese sauce sounds great and, most importantly, does not sound intimidating to make. So many vegan cheese sauces sound like a lot of work to put together, which usually causes me to stray away from the recipes. But not this one! I am going to have to give it a try
.
It was 100% worth the investment! I know right, I can’t do those complicated vegan cheese sauce recipes, so I went for the lazy root haha
I am so amazed at how cheezy you get that cheese sauce. it just looks heavenly. glad you had a great disconnected weekend.
zoey loves laying on any kind of blanket!! she always goes for our comforter when it falls to the ground!! i’m still using the old iphone for my camera.. i need a new one, too!!
Awe! Zoey is the cutest! It’s so tough to pick out a great camera!
Okay. So, I was working on some #plantPOWER stuff and my ego was telling me, “You’ll never get ‘x’ accomplished. It’s not going to happen.” I then felt my ~ing tell me to go to your blog. Randomly. I listened and found your BEAUTIFUL shout out to me. I’m now filled with so much gratitude and motivation to KICK ASS! Thank you for that gift, my sexy soul sister. I love you!
LOVE that this happened! Seriously, how cool is that!
pretty tree! I’m glad you had a good weekend.
Your Christmas tree display looks so cute! Your top in that selfie looks intriguing…do you have a full view shot of it? I just feel like I will like it
I have been practicing my meditation off and on though I should be practicing more. The problem is I am driven to meditate once I’m already anxious. But my psychiatrist shared with me that to master meditation you must practice when you are of a more calm mind so you can focus, reap the benefits, and use those benefits later when you get anxious. Duh! I need to remember that and make time to meditate even when I am not freaking out over something. Although don’t get me wrong I’m grateful to not feel anxious all the time! Haha
Your vegan cheese sauce looks SO FREAKING GOOD LISA. Oh you are so talented. #amazinglisa
I have the exact same problem before meditation as well. Those are amazing tips from your therapist! Stealing them;) You are the best!
‘SAAANTA, I KNOW him!!!’<- got to be 1 of my favourite lines in Elf. That film really is just awesome.
I'm proper excited for 2 things here-
* ' the bigger & better things' you've got coming for the blog( but puhlease don't change too much! I <3 you as you are).
* Your holiday baking. I mean, when am I not excited for what you've got going on in the kitchen??(Never). Aaaand I'm totally making the cheesey sauce ASAP.
Glad you had a relaxed , festive weekend:).
My mommy sent me an advent calender in the mail- an adorable one that has scenes of the nativity behind each door( as apposed to chocolates)- I'm kinda in love with it. Got me in the Christmassy mood for sure.
Xxx
Best quote EVER! Oh no, I definitely won’t change the bloggy much (if at all). We’ll see! Awe, that is such a cool advent calendar!!
Haha oh my God, thank you SO much for that ‘Keep Calm’ picture… I nearly chocked on my tea when I scrolled down and saw the SANTA bit. I think I watched Elf 2 or 3 times this past week, and that movie seriously has to be one of my favorites. The part where he’s trying to get the topper on the tree and ends up jumping right into it? Kills me every.single.time. And speaking of trees, that’s what my weekend mostly consisted of… lots of Christmas decorating and getting into the spirit of things
Haha. It is the best quote in a movie ever written. So flipping funny. I burst out laughing everytime I even think of it. Gosh, Will Ferrell is so hilarious. Oh man. I can’t stop laughing right now, I must look awesome;)
LOVE the tree! So pretty! You look so pretty next to that tree too
I need a good point and shoot camera, been searching and researching!
Happy Monday! <3
I’ve been researching a ton too! So hard to choose one! Thank you sweet friend!
Seriously, you keep posting these awesome recipes and I’m not going to have enough time to try them all!!!
Your eyes are insanely blue! So pretty
I’ve got a Fujifilm Finepix and I love it – although I went to spend some time this month learning more about it…can never go wrong with improved picture quality!
Thanks so much Sam! I’ll definitely research that one! I can’t choose!
I wish we could watch Elf together… LOVE it!
I am wanting a new camera too… let me know what you find!!
I’m excited to hear what these exciting things coming up are!
I wish we could too! It would be so neat if we lived closer! I’ll let you know about the camera situation asap!
I know someone who got that new Nikon point and shoot, but it’s “professional” I think it’s like 300 bucks. They love it–great for someone who wants a nice cam, but doesn’t want a DSLR.
Love you tree! And love the juice in a mug! Can you believe I have YET to do spaghetti squash this season??
That’s great! Thanks for the suggestion! I definitely can’t afford anything super expensive! I so can’t believe you haven’t had spaghetti squash this season yet!;)
That Buddy the Elf “Keep Calm” is beyond awesome!
I don’t meditate because I’m too impatient. Which is probably why I should do it.
It was kind of the best thing I saw all day haha.
