Hey friends! Another week of sharing delicious eats and creations through What I Ate Wednesday.
Let’s hop right in to some good stuff.
That saying is so odd, I always laugh at people when they say “I’m going to hop in the shower”, because I just imagine them jumping in the shower. Okay, enough weirdo tangents…
I woke up this morning really wanting to go to spin class. I went through all the motions, but my head wasn’t “all there”.
I went, despite those feelings, because I just thought it was early and I’d eventually wake up. Bad idea.
I came home only to feel worse. Headache, sore throat and feeling generally queasy. Yuck.
Breakfast -
Plain Banana Buckwheat. I melted a little coconut oil on top. Fabulous idea.
I was thankful I had prepped a bowl of overnight oats the day before, because I really didn’t feel like getting up to make any food.
I did have to go to an appointment, so despite feeling bad I had to get ready. Plus a Starbucks trip x 2.
When I got home, I went on a cleaning rampage. I’m not too sure why, but whenever I’m sick I get into little cleaning frenzies. I guess it’s because I hate sitting still.
Lunch -
2 slices ezekiel, almond butter, spinach and an egg.
I had no appetite, but decided I should make something in hopes of feeling better. No dice.
I was thankful my friend, Heather, let me know she’d be free for a skype chat, so I had someone to talk to and take my mind off this (hopefully) 24 hour flu.
As soon as I got off the computer I fell asleep. How productive.
I never, ever, ever nap so this was like a mini miracle. I can’t remember the last time I ever napped. Must have been years ago.
The thing with naps is that you wake up starving, well, at least I do.
Thanks goodness it was Dinner time.
I wanted food 10 minutes ago, so I snacked on a bowl of strawberries while waiting for my soup to heat up.
I was super thankful I had one last serving of parsnip and sweet potato soup leftover.
Dinner -
Sweet Potato and Parnsip Soup.
Easy, peezy.
Since I didn’t get to snack earlier in the day, I’m still a little hungry this evening.
I brewed up a cup of tea to have while writing up this post and before catching up on American Horror Story (holy, scary) from last week.
My plan is to finish the day with my favorite protein muffin.
Snack -
Muffin, plus coconut cream and peanut flour frosting.
Perfect way to end the night. Let’s hope tomorrow I wake up feeling a-okay.
Hopefully this nap doesn’t prevent me from getting to sleep tonight.
Any remedies for sickness?
What are your go to meals on days you feel ill?
Do you like taking naps?
Have a fabulous day!

Omg those strawberries look so good! Berries are to expensive right now
Awwr sorry you’re not feeling the best, hun… Hopefully it doesn’t last too long and you’re back to feeling like yourself again soon. The best remedies I have for sickness are lots of rest, vitamin C, and water; and when I’m sick I usually like to have soup, toast, and ginger ale on hand at all times.
I’m a soup addict when I’m sick!
I hope you feel better soon! I’m just getting over a cold, but at least is was a fast one. When I’m sick I want matzo ball soup. I swear it’s healing!
I’ve never tried matzo ball soup! Now, I totally want to!
Sorry you were not feeling well! Napping is the BEST when you’re feeling sick. And loads of tea!! I have the Sweet Potato and Parsnip Soup on my recipe list since forever. Always get the reminder to try is when I see a pic on your post!!
Yes, tea is key!
Love your lunch sandwich combo!
Lunch looks good…never thought of almond butter with an egg. Sounds yummy!
I was going to say that soup is a great remedy for sickness, but it seems like you’ve actually got that covered! Actually, I’ve been reading out meat broth has some awesome healing qualities from the bones and such, so maybe give making a broth-based soup a try!
As always, I love the picture of the protein muffin. I could totally see myself eating that
I hope your appointment went okay! Especially if it was the allergy doctor, you haven’t gotten results back for that yet, have you?
I had no idea! Interesting about meat broth. No, I haven’t seen her yet. My appointment is next week when I find out the results!
I’m not a napper…I always feel more tired. The only time i nap is when I am serious sick. I love tea and soup when I don’t feel good. Crackers and Ginger Ale if my stomach is queasy. I hope you start to feel better soon! Make sure to drink that water…it’ll help flush out the bad stuff.
almond butter on an egg sandwich?? interesting….
feel better, girly!! get your rest up and drink lots of water!!
I’m terrible at recovering from sickness. I always want to go through the same routine I always do when really I should just REST! Cleaning would also be a good idea though, considering the mess my room has turned into while I’ve been studying, ugh
I know right! I can’t help remaining busy even when I feel sick.
Feel better Lisa! My go to foods when I’m sick are soup and anything carby…usually gluten free bread, oats, etc… Just plain comfort!
Coconut cream and peanut flour frosting sounds good!
sometimes cleaning rampages are just what we need! hope you feel better
I always go to whole foods and get a big container of the Mom’s Chicken Soup from the hot bar. It’s so good. I like toast and fresh fruit like melon balls when I’m sick too.
I hope you are on the mend already and completely well soon! I have been through that whole workout thing before with being sick. I almost always end up regretting it afterward because I feel worse. Sometimes it’s hard to resist that urge to sweat it out! I’ve found that sweating it out only works for hangovers, ha.
Way to imagine people hopping into the shower. You put a bad image in my head!
The soup was just the ticket for your sickness I’m sure. And that lunch..I love toast when I’m sick. I can NEVER nap. I haven’t napped since my 22nd birthday (yes I remember). It totally throws me off!
Ha truth about hangovers. I know, I realized after I probably put bad images in peoples head ha ha. Oops. Carbs are always a win for sickness! Always.
aww I hope you’re feeling better!! I also never nap… like ever. When I had mono I actually only took one long nap haha weirdo I know. My go to food is usually toast with jam and soup. Comfort food
I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. If you don’t mind me asking: Was your doctor able to help you with the neck pain you experienced recently? I hope it has disappeared.
When I’m sick I like to drink even more tea than usual and eat foods like oat bran, yogurt and soup. Also – childhood memories of my mum preparing it for me whenever I was sick – pudding/custard. That was almost worth getting sick for
.
Yes, the Doctor didn’t help specifically but the rest I did helped a ton! It’s so much better, I don’t have any pain at all now!
Soup, veggies and OJ! I think it’s this time of the year, I wasn’t feeling all that great yesterday either. I find that rest is the best medicine.
i’m so glad that we had time to Skype chat together! It was a miracle indeed. Keep listening to your bod pod, beauty.
Mmmm strawberries!
For sickness: lots of tea, honey & lemon! Also, SLEEEEEEPPPP. the body needs it’s time to recover. SO sleep/nap whatever you can!
Oh man those strawbs look deeeeevine! I’ve been wanting to buy some so bad at the grocery, but they’ve all been oober moldy the last times I’ve gone! I guess I’ll just have to make a special trip up there to visit heehee
Get well soon Lisa!! <3
Ahh hope you feel better. Feeling crappy is definitely not fun!
Love all of your meals as usual! Still need to try the almond butter/egg combo.
Ahh get well soon,( sorry ,I sound like such a cliché for saying that , but I really do want you to feel better fast). And knowing how much sleep you often miss out on, I’d definitely consider it a triumph that you were able to nap.
Soup , and toast are simple comforting foods for me if I’m poorly- that’s what my mum would always give me when I was younger- and you got both those bases covered. I also ALWAYS drank tons of Lucozade when I was sick as a kid…not sure what that was all about:/.
As for remedies, I like to take a walk outside, for fresh air. And I think I feel better after drinking one of those Emergen-C packets, that you add to water( ever tried those? They’re pretty yum), but it could just be a placebo effect going on.
Xxx
Whenever I am sick I like to stick with toast, soups, and mashed potatoes! All things that go down pretty easily and are nice to my stomach.
Feel better soon!
Aww sorry you’re feeling sick girl! I hope you feel better soon!
I’m jealous of your nap because I can never take naps either – my body just doesn’t like to sleep.
When I’m sick I eat oatmeal, soup, toast, and lots of tea!
I woke up sick as well, boo.
Luckily my appetite hasn’t been affected yet so hopefully that keeps up! Feel better!
I hope you feel better. Hot tea and rest always helps me. My mum always goes on insane cleaning frenzies when she is sick! Don’t think she can sit still either
awww home you feel better beauty! I totally feel you on waking up starving after naps! I don’t know what it is, even if I take a quick power nap I still waking up hungry!
Get lots of rest and be good to yourself girl! xo
