11 Fun Facts

It’s finally Saturday! Hallelujah for the weekend time. I think this was possibly the longest week ever.

This week, I’m suffering with a little illness and have been complaining to anyone who will listen. I’m a real gem. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get out of the house and get together with friends…

Remember how you all asked me to post random facts about myself? Fine, no one did but it’s Saturday and I wanted to finally write this post.

I’ve been nominated a few times for this Liebster award, but I figured I’d finally get to posting it!

I always love learning new, random things about other bloggers, so here we go.

Basically there are a bunch of rules to follow, but since I’m a rule breaker, I’m just going to answer a few questions and tell you 11 random facts about me instead. So naughty of me, I know.

1. I love coffee, but always start my day with tea.

tea

On top of that, I probably drink about 3 cups of the stuff per day. Which is probably why I can hardly fit anything into my cabinets. I also have a cupboard that is just for tea and coffee. Issues.

2. I eat the same Breakfast almost everyday, just in different combinations.

buckwheat bowl

It’s been that way since I was a kid. I lived off of the same food items and just rotate the ingredients/quantities around mostly. Honestly, I know what I like and hardly like to switch it up in the morning since it’s my favorite time of day. Always, always it will contain a grain, little protein, fruit, and a healthy fat.

3. I hate ALL milk. Almond milk, soy milk, dairy milk, ick. (Okay, except coconut milk) I do however like mixing these milks with things so they taste better. Like almond milk + cocoa powder + a little maple syrup or stevia = an awesome hot chocolate.

To me, all milk tastes nasty. I remember my friends tried to “force feed” my milk when I was young since I was super clumsy and basically broke an arm or leg every other week.

4. My Mom was actually the person who got me started into adding protein powder into baked goods years ago.

warrior blend

As a kid, I was the pickiest eater on the planet. Honestly, I only ate white bread, pasta, yogurt, bananas, strawberries, and frozen peas. Literally, that’s it. So if she made banana bread for us, she’d always sneak in protein powder since I ate absolutely no protein ever. It’s crazy how tastes change over the years!

5. I absolutely hate wearing pants.

DSC01280

I feel like I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ll just mention it again anyways. It’s super rare you will catch me wearing anything other than a dress, skirt, or leggings. Leggings are basically my go to during Winter time, but we do get the occasional super sunny day. Like today!

6. Working out has been part of my daily life since I was about 8 years old. (Besides when I totally didn’t work out at all for one year in college).

fitness

I used to be a competitive swimmer, swimming about 7-8 times per week and cross training on top of that. Sometimes, I don’t even know how I survived all that working out. Eventually, I quit because I felt like I was “missing out” on so much in High School socially. Um yah, I wasn’t at all. I’ve always slightly regretted this decision, but I know now that everything happens for a reason.

7. I carry hand sanitizer with me at all time.

hand sanitizer

The blame falls on my OCD for this, but it’s a little too much. I have about 13 different smelling ones. And if people ask if I have sanitizer, I will say no because it feels wrong to share it. Yes, I’m completely odd.

8. My biggest fear of all time are peacocks. No joke. Like SUPER afraid of them. Even this picture makes me a little anxious.

peacock

Once in high school (this is a true story!), my Dad drove me home from school and what just happens to be outisde my front door? 2 PEACOCKS! I mean how does this even happen in real life? Who comes home to find 2 peacocks outside the house? You can’t make this stuff up. I made me Dad scare them away, it was probably the worst day of life.

9. Most blogs I read are lifestyle/personal blogs.

blogging

I prefer “knowing” whose blog I’m reading. Posting photos of the author makes me want to read more, since I like knowing what the writer looks like. Yes, most people have an image on the side, but I like seeing other photos too. Part of this is probably because I’m slightly nosy. It may seem narcissistic-I don’t think so. (I mean, you have a blog about your life anyways, so you might as well show more of your fabulous self!) I still read other blogs, but the ones I comment on, read daily are these types. Agree? Disagree?

10. I’m a huge kid at heart.

disney

This is probably why I loved my Nannying job. I totally enjoyed watching the kids get excited about Santa Clause, getting dressed in silly outfits, jumping on the bed (don’t tell the parents I totally joined in), and watching all those Disney classics. I love Disney movies, I’m a child. I miss those carefree days!

11. Kammie wrote in her post how she’s a klutz but has never broken a bone. Well, I’m a klutz who basically breaks something everytime I fall. 11 broken bones, minus fingers and toes. I’m a mess waiting to happen. I constantly trip over invisible things, fall up or down stairs, basically don’t take me out in public because I’m embarrassing.

Now the questions from Kammie! P.S. Make sure you check out her blog too; she’s awesome and her blog’s awesome!

I’m just going to pick 5 of them, what a rebel I am.

1. Cats or dogs?

I love both! I’d love to have a dog for myself, but since I have a cat. I’d have to choose cats for now, just because she’s too cute. This face has my heart.

2. Favorite thing to do on a lazy Sunday?

Enjoying the slow movements of the morning. Taking time to enjoy breakfast, read some blogs, lounge in sweats, and making coffee while reading a book under a cozy blanket. So basically being as unproductive as possible.

3. Favorite movie of ALL time?

Tough one. I like really lame movies, so this will probably be embarrassing. I love Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I just adore, adore Audrey Hepburn. Such a class act.

4. If you had to eat one dish for the rest of your life, what would you pick?

This is probably super obvious. Kabocha with coconut butter:)

5. What kind of climate do you wish you could live in?

The hotter the better! I really need to move away from Canada clearly. I’d love to eventually wander on over to California, Florida, or Arizona. Dream.

I’m going to nominate anyone who wants to do this post!

Tell me something random about you!

What’s your all time favorite movie?

Favorite thing to do on a lazy Sunday?

Have a fantastic weekend!

  1. I hope you feel better soon girl! :)

I drink SO much tea too. It’s seriously the only way I can stay warm in the winters. Especially at work where they keep the temperature SO low. I hate it!

I’ve seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but I don’t think I really appreciated it at the time, you know? I need to watch it again! And I have way too many favourite movies to choose just one. The Breakfast Club and Ever After are two of them though!

  2. I’m totally with you on the no-pants thing. I wear jeans in the winter (way too cold here otherwise) but when we get warm weather, I live in skirts, dresses and shorts. And yesss on moving someplace warmer. The boy and I are thinking about moving when I’m done my MA, and that is our one requirement: someplace warmer than here.

And Disney movies always have and always will be amazing! I still randomly watch one a few times a year. I’ve never seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s – I should get on that!

  3. Your Sunday sounds PERFECT! I’m also with you on the kabocha squash and the warm climate. Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. This is such a fun post! We are too much alike. I love skirts and dresses too. Hate pants but in this cold they’re just necessary! I’m the biggest klutz too and love all things disney! Have a great weekend!

  5. Ahh feel better twin! I have always loathed milk (mostly cow’s milk) but I absolutely love almond milk. I can drink it straight from the carton, it’s weird!! lol

  6. I love Breakfast at Tiffany’s too! Audrey is the best – such an icon. I have books galore about her life! I also love Back to the Future – a true 80′s classic.

  7. I HATE PANTS TOO! Unless they’re leggings or yoga pants. Also despise milk – I’ll add it to smoothies or baked goods, but the thought of drinking a glass = projectile vomit. My husband always has a glass of almond milk with dessert & I’m like, “what are you, 5? gross.” True love. xoxo

  8. I hope you feel better soon love!! I wish we could have a cup of tea… maybe we could skype sometime with tea?!?! :) I never wear anything BUT pants!! lol… I stay cold all the time!

ps… how do you like your ugi ball?

  9. girl I am with you, I would wear a dress over pants anyday

  10. I hate pants too! (Well, except yoga pants.) I live in skirts, dresses, and yoga pants!

  11. Hope you start feeling better! I am with you on the cabinet just for coffee and tea, no shame ;) I chipped a bone in my ankle once….but wasn’t diagnosed until a year later! They finally figured out that I had a small bone piece floating around my tendons and that I needed surgery to get it out. Can you believe I’ve never actually seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s?? I know, I feel like I’m missing out!

  12. Yay loved learning more about you! I actually haven’t seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I know, I know. Gasp. I’m catching up on all the classics slowly. I only recently saw The Breakfast Club (like… over the summer) so yes I know I’m behind. Sigh.

And that’s so random about the peacocks. I always found them so beautiful. I haven’t seen them too many times in person though so that’s wild that they were just chilling by your house randomly. So cool. Wel, I guess not to you though. But still.

  13. If I ever meet you in person, I’m going to ask you for hand sanitizer then when you say no I’m going to give you that “I know you do” look lol.

My favorite thing to do on Sundays is enjoy coffee and watch Food Network cooking shows. It just seems right to do on a Sunday vs. week days.

My favorite Disney movie is definitely Alice in Wonderland. I’m secretly obsessed with it.

    11 broken bones?! Holy moly!

  14. Eleven broken bones?!? That is totally fascinating and unfortunate all at the same time. I would say that you have had some bad luck in that department! ;)

  15. Love, love, LOVE learning more about you! Starting the morning with tea? Rotating the same breakfast? Being a big kid at heart? Definitely with you on all those! I can’t say that I relate to the peacock fear, but hey… we all have our quirks ;)

And I totally agree that the blogs I like reading the most are where the person posts lots of pictures… whiiiiiich probably means I should put more of an effort into doing that myself  I really want to start putting up more pictures, but taking them makes me feel all sorts of goofy. Just another hang up to get over, I suppose…

  16. I loved reading these-such a fun look into your life :) I have seen Dumb & Dumber at least 25 times and can quote Jim Carrey like it is my job, which is amazing or embarrassing depending on how you look at it. And as far as lazy Sundays go, I love hanging out with my fiance and our dog. I’m all about comfy clothes and lounging on our couch!

  17. BAHA! Cute babe! Scared of peacocks hahahaha

  18. I love Sun Warrior protein powder too! I always add it to smoothies to make them more satisfying. And I completely agree with you about never being too old for a Disney move (or Disney in general).

  19. Ahh all I wear is pants! Although if I lived somewhere warmer I would probably sport skirts and dresses more often. During the summer they do make an appearance!
I really enjoyed reading this Lisa, yet more reasons why were are so very similar!
    Feel better dear lady

  20. I HATE PANTS TOO. jeans are my nightmare.

  21. I hope you feel better! I was feeling a little under the weather a couple of days ago actually but been feeling okay since yesterday (fingers crossed).

I have to agree with your random fact that you don’t like wearing pants! I’m with you on that one. During the winter here in GA though I do tend to stick to leggings or skinny jeans. Being born and raised in Orlando, FL though I did get to take advantage (and still do) of the warm weather and shorts year round!

Well- this Sunday isn’t going to be very relaxing because I have so much studying to do :( But, I love to take my dog, Noah, outside for a walk, make breakfast and tea, and have a quiet time. There’s something about the mornings I love so much! It’s like no other time… (obvi, haha).

I love older movies too! While You Were Sleeping and Barefoot in the Park are a couple faves.

  22. I live in Canada and …want to change my life. Want a roomie? :) I feel like I know ya (though I’m 31, so I’m old to you :)
Wanted to ask you about the Gabby Bernstein books…she has a new one out…is the new one good? better than her former one? I’m reluctant to buy any books…but…
Also, I ordered off vitacost (thanks for your reassuring words on the protein powder!) and it was cheap really…I bought 2 items and the protein powder was on sale and shipping to canada was only 5.99…when I first attempted to order off iherb it cost me a FORTUNE…so i didn’t bother and i think vitacost seems ok…only I have to wait 3-4 weeks for the order…that’s not fun :(
Would love to see more full days of eats from you and suggestions for breakfasts for a gal who does’nt like grains, tends to eat TOO much at night :( and also needs to back off of dairy and eggs but hasn’t the willpower…
also, any other book recommendations for ORGanization, keeping calm, food, recipes, hope, anything…and how do you organize yourself? Planners or what not?
I don’t exrecise now and miss it sorely. I’m at this “bad” place or “confusing ” place because I’m underweight and lethargic but its more related to anxiety and major digestion issues. Yet, I’m shamefully (very shamefully) nightly eating TOO much (i’m too embarrassed to even say what…). Anyway, sorry to be a bug. Just kinda likin’ your blog.
WISH I had an iphone to start a blog, but can’t afford that…might consider the other camera you mentioned, but was really hoping for a CHEAP one (like cheap, but effective)…not sure. Anyway…

  23. Oops: Also, regarding coffee…I’ve never ever had it and wondering about it. I have a feeling I’d find it disgusting and with my digestive issues all signs point to NOT having it (I ought to be having green smoothies instead or juices, jeesh….). BUT, I almost wonder if it’d make me “go” in the mornings…I have no coffee machine. What about the little packets I saw in Sobeys? There’s one with 6 single packets that says “Single Serve – Nescafe – Tasters Choice ” …the ingredients say 100% coffee…is that …okay? And what is the nutriton in it (calories, etc..Ii ask simply because I’m absolutely wondering about that…always kinda wondered). AND if you do have it and (like me) want to see if it will make you “go” is it best to drink it before breakfast (and wait a bit to see if it “works” ) or after breakfast?….anyway, thanks :)

  24. I have an entire cabinet devoted to tea and coffee, too! Aaaand, to make the addiction seem even worse, whenever I open that cabinet, boxes of tea fall out because it’s packed to the max. I needed to create TWO tea and coffee cupboards…two years ago. ;)

Girl, you’ve totally got rockin’ legs, so you can definitely get away with never wearing pants! Plus, you own super cute dresses, so it all works out. I’m a major cold weather wimp and wear pants (or fleece lined leggings/tights) all winter long. Boooorrring. I make up for it during the summer, though…it’s dresses for the win when it’s warm!

Umm, major Disney princess lover here, too. I was a nanny during college, and absolutely loved the fact that I was paid to watch kid movies and play with dolls! Sometimes I think I was made to be a life-long nanny ( to girls, not boys! <—not so into legos and race cars haha).

Hope you had a lovely weekend, dear!! <3 xoxo
