Happy New Year friends! I hope you all had an amazing celebration last night, full of family, fun, and friends.
If not, I hope you at least enjoyed bringing in the new year.
I know lots of people set resolutions and goals for the New Year, but I honestly don’t like the idea. It’s just not for me. If I’m going to make a change, it will be because I want it to happen, not because it’s another Monday, or a new month, or year. That’s just how I look at it.
Let’s see all the wonderful things that happened in December.
This month the root veggies have taken over. Give me butternut, kabocha, turnips, parsnips, and rutabaga and you better bet I’ll be roasting it.
It’s so wonderfully delicious cooked in some coconut oil, until nice and crispy on the outside.
Love.
I also have a full blown obsesssion with tea.
Maybe not as much as Meg, but it’s pretty high up there.
And how could I forget about gingerbread!
A classic throughout the Winter months and I managed to finish this loaf rather quickly.
‘Tis the season after-all.
I also showed you all my favorite coconut flour frosting, that I’m still continuing to eat almost daily.
I wonder what my foodie obsessions will be next month?
I can’t forget about my red cup Starbucks love, next month I have a feeling I’m going to be loving my new versimo, instead of the daily lines at Starbucks.
I went through a phase of adding peppermint stevia drops to my coffee and it was a lovely mixup every now and again.
This month, I also wrote two of my favorite posts about being happy where you are in this moment and beliefs we hold over our lives and how we can change them for the better.
Another favorite post had to be the vlog I did, where I really opened up about some struggles I’ve faced in the past.
Your ongoing support in me publishing this makes me feel so much better about making the decision to post it. I wasn’t sure I actually would, but I’ve gotten tons of comments and e-mails thanking me.
So, basically you all are fantastic.
Another thing this month has changed for me. I’ve stopped going super hard on the workouts.
Cutting back on tabatas, HIITs and incorporating pilates into my daily routine.
I’ve grown to love it, however, I do miss HIIT some of the time.
I know that this will only benefit me by holding back for now.
And now for some beauty favorites.
I admit, I’m a little head over heels for hot couture by givenchy. I posted about it before, and I’ll say one thing everytime I wear it I get compliments on how good I smell, every.time.
No lies people.
I’ll stop here before this post gets super duper long.
What were your favorite things this December?
Any new obsessions you’d like to share?
How was your New Years Eve?
Happy Tuesday all!

The roasted root veggies look so good! And I need to give that gingerbread a try….Happy New Year girl!!
Happy New Year to you as well!
Love this! I think my root veggie obsession took over this year too! Happy New Year!
Oh man, it’s gotten crazy over here;)
I have the same view of New Years Resolutions – why does the beginning of the new year have to signify time to make a change? If I want to create a goal, I’ll do it regardless of whether it’s January 1st or the middle of the year. Whenever I’ve made resolutions, I’ve usually forgotten about them or given up a few months into the year. I’d rather just make goals as they become priorities to me.
Exactly! I completely agree! I like the idea of making goals more as they become priorities in life, it makes it much less daunting and probably more reachable!
I love these monthy recaps! So much good stuff!! I don’t think anyone has a tea obsession like Meg! However, you do win the Starbucks obsession.
Happy New Year friend!
Haha, I think we can all agree I have a Starbucks obsession!
Definitely crushing on all of your December favorites – especially Hot Couture. That and Guilty by Gucci have been some of my favorite scents this year. And gingerbread! It’s kind of funny because I don’t remember really liking gingerbread, but after baking up a batch of cookies? Gah! I’m smitten. Happy New Year, love
I hope the next 365 days are fabulous for you <3
Oh yes, I have that gucci one as well! It’s awesome! For some reason cookies haven’t been a big love for me, I’m more of a muffin/bread gal! Hope your days are super fabulous as well!
My New Year’s Eve was rather uneventful and I was in bed at 11:30 haha…and honestly, I am not even sad about this!
Happy 2013!!
Oh well, sometimes a good night sleep is just what we need to ring in the New Year. Happy 2013 to you as well!
i don’t set nye resolutions either! i always try and be healthy and do better, but since i do a fine job of it already i leave it at that. dont fix what aint broke, right? haha
Totally agree with you Lindsay!
I feel the same way about resolutions. When I see the need for a change, I make it in the moment. That said, I see the need for a little detoxing, so January is going to be junk-free. Actually, it will probably stay super clean until my competition at the end of March. I’m really excited about it!
Happy New Year!!!
Exactly! I like what you said about going junk free, to be honest I could use a little cut down with late nights. I need to prioritize sleep this month! Eek, excited for your progress this season! I know you’re going to kick some major butt!
i think january will be about pears, roasted and with melted nut butter and cinnamon. Yes?
hehe.
And yea for pilates, it will be a blessing!
Oh yes, I really like the sounds of that!
Happy New Year!! Everytime I read your blog I think I must buy coconut butter and I always forget, so it is going on the shopping list right now!
Happy New Year to you too! You HAVE got to try it, it’s incredible!
Okay, first things first…you’re glowing in this picture! Absolutely stunning, my friend! I can tell that the changes you’ve made recently are radiating outward. So proud of you for opening up in that blog, and sharing what is on your heart! <3
I know I've told you this before, but I adore how you put your avocado in shot glasses. I'm also loving that gingerbread recipe. Somehow, I didn't have any this season! Better late than never, right? Oh, and you already know how I feel about those red cups! I'm going through withdrawals!
Hugs and happy new year! xoxoxo
Ah, thank you so much my wonderful friend! I’ve heard from lots of people that I look SO much better, more glowing (less gray) skin and just healthier in mind and spirits too which is amazing to hear, albeit a little hard too (I know-sad ha). I’m going through withdrawals too! I found one Starbucks that still has them, so I’m totally going there for the next week haha. Happy New Year love! xo
Hi Lisa,
I found your blog a couple of months ago…I am a fellow tea LOVER and thanks to your obsession with davids tea I have just placed an international order (I live in Australia) for some of their winter collection tea packs:
http://www.davidstea.com/the-winter-collection?&TF=D37ECAA4EEF7&DEID=
They only send surface internationally
so I have to wait a few weeks but I am so excited for the delicious flavours to arrive.
we have a similar store in Australia called T2 : http://t2tea.com check out the site, their stores are AMAZING places and you can try so many different teas.
Maybe we should set up a tea exchange program between australia and canada for tea junkies!
Love the blog!
