Everything happens for a reason.
I’m a real sucker for this statement. I use it time and time again.
We go through certain situations in life for a reason. Every hardship we go through, we learn a lesson in the end. Even if it isn’t clear in the beginning, when we are aware and willing to learn, we will find a reason.
Everyone goes through tough times throughout their lives.

Sometimes, the answer is simple like getting under the covers a few hour earlier and get a good night sleep.
Other times, the answer is more difficult and we have to struggle to get there.
There are times I wish I could go back in the past and erase some of the things I’ve had to go through.
However, there is no magic eraser that can make the past disappear and make our problems go away.

Resenting the fact that we’ve gone through unfortunate things doesn’t help our present situations.
In fact, it leaves us stuck. It can leave us in an unhappy place.
The only way to get past these feelings is to simply let them go.
Let go of the pain we’ve faced and learn the positives that came from these situations.
{ This just happened to be the message on my morning alarm, how perfect! }
When you wake up in the morning, you have two choices.
You can wake up on the wrong side of the bed, in a bad mood hating the world.
Or, you can wake up on the other side, and smile because you are blessed and alive to live this day any way you want.
Be positive because you have that option. Choose to look at the good in life; all the happiness around you, because I guarantee it’s there.

When bad things happen, it can be tough to appreciate them, but something good comes from those events.
I suffered from an eating disorder, and while the disorder wasn’t a positive experience itself, good things have happened because of it.
It has made me appreciate every opportunity. I’m more confident, aware, and happy than I’ve ever been before.
Each day, I choose to be grateful, appreciate life, and choose happiness so that I don’t have to live stuck in the past but can look forward to future things to come.
Do you believe everything happens for a reason?
What are you appreciative of today?
Have a beautiful day!

Love the post! Totally agree that everything happens for a reason.
Beautiful post Lisa! I truly do believe everything happens for a reason. You learn and grow from what you endure each day.
Today I am appreciative for the beautiful weather. Warm temperatures & sunshine can brighten almost anyone’s day <3
Beautiful things to appreciate!
I always say this too, babe!
I do believe that everything happens for a reason, but at the same time, i hate when people use this along with the idea of “What happens, happens,” to just sit around and expect things to come their way. I know, I know, a little negative nancy to your morning dash of wonderful. Sorry
But again, I totally agree. To continue with the cliches, I really do believe that for those who try, everything works out the way it is supposed to.
Oh yes, I definitely understand what you mean! You can’t just sit there and expect things to go your way. Go out, try them, and if they fail it’s meant to happen, if not, I believe that’s meant to happen too.
i do believe everything happens for a reason. even when itz hard to remember or believe that, itz true. i also believe that good things happen to good people, so in some ways we are in control of our destiny.
So agree with this comment!
Love this saying too, and I try to remind myself of it if bad things happen or something doesn’t necessarily go the way I wanted it too. Those things help us to learn after all that is life right?
Totally right Chloe!
What a beautiful post Lisa! I love this so much! I was just talking with a friend last night about how from everything we may seem to lose something from we always end up gaining in the end!
Thank you Danielle! Exactly! I believe everytime we “lose” something, we absolutely gain something in return!
While I don’t necessarily believe that everything happens for a reason, I DO believe that we can find meaning and positivity in every situation.
Definitely Carly! Thanks for the input.
I think everything happens for a reason but more importantly life will happen, so manipulating it does nothing.
Agree!
I definitely think that everything happens for a reason – and that just goes to show us how little control we truly have over our lives. Plans get thrown, beliefs change… all we can do is hang on for the ride and do our best to make the most of it. Sometimes a curse can turn into a blessing and vice versa. Something to keep in mind is that we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be at any given moment
Yes, I love what you said about this! It’s just the ebbs and flows of life that we have to make the most out of!
Everything happens for a reason, however we choose how we deal with it and how we react!! You know?? You have grown so much from your ED. I’m constantly amazed and proud of you!
Definitely! I totally understand what you’re saying. You are too kind Brittany! Love you!
I was talking with Heather abt this last wk! Though my ED has sucked and still sucks at times, it’s made me who I am today. I wouldn’t be nearly as open-minded or respectful of others’ opinions and their issues. I wouldn’t be nearly as spiritual (not in a religious sense, but in a letting-go-of control sense, or at least trying to get there). I wouldn’t be friends with so many different kinds of people and wouldn’t have my blog or the same blog I have now. I wouldn’t have the same relationships and passions now, the same view of the world. So YES everything happens for a reason. Our experiences make us US!
That’s too funny you were chatting to Heather about this. Oh yes, I know what you mean about not being as spiritual (and yah, not in a religious sense for me either). It’s crazy how many things I’ve learned about myself because of my ED.
Hi there!
I am new to your blog, but I am so glad I have found it. :]
I can totally relate to this post. I used to wake up every day with a PLAN. Obviously, sometimes, plans are set ups for disasters or failures and the worst of all for me, disappointments. If I didn’t get something on my magical daily list done, I honestly thought I was a failure. Even if I had 30 things “to do” on said list, and I didn’t get one of them done, I would feel absolutely horrible about myself. I’ve come a far cry from that, and now if I don’t get to something, I thrive in all the things that DID happen or that DID get done, and remember that things happen for a reason!
Love this blog, following you from now on. ;]
Aw thank you Kirsten! Glad you’ve found my blog!! Exactly true! I’m so glad you’ve come far from those experiences and have now learnt from them!
True statement. Glad to see you are taking the positive from your experience.
So true! Even when things look like they can’t be worse it’s so important to tell yourself it’s all for a better purpose. Positive thinking is so powerful!
It really is amazing!
I think that everything definitely happens for a reason. We may not realize it or understand it at first, but ultimately it makes sense. I am a big believer in fate.
I must ask, what do you “glaze” your tempeh in?
I’ll post the recipe either tomorrow or Monday!:)
Love this post! I definitely believe in this. I’m looking for employment at the minute (my part-time job doesn’t count!). It’s been 6 months since I finished my masters and still no luck. Each job that I don’t get I have to tell myself that this is all happening for a reason. To make me stronger. To make me appreciate when I do get a job. To make me learn about the value of money. Staying positive is the only option!
I love the way you’re looking at this experience! Very wise! And you’re totally right, staying positive is the only option! It would do no good at all to be negative in these types of situations.
