Today was a lovely day, the sun was shining and no rain was in sight! I felt the love and energy all around me.
This morning, I woke up early before a day full of appointments to get in a sweet pilates session. It’s good to feel that burn again, but it made me realize how I have a love for training certain body parts, and despise working other parts of my body.
Like I literally cringe while going through some of the movements, and just beg in my head for the routine to finish.
I love working out my…
triceps, shoulders, abs, chest, glutes
I hate working out my…
quads, back, biceps, calves
Most likely, I hate working out these specific body parts because I find them the hardest and they’re probably the types of moves I should be doing more.
It’s more mental than anything, but to make things more pleasant in the morning I make sure to have everything set up the night before.
This definitely makes things more manageable, that way I just roll out of bed, throw on some clothes, and my equipment is already been set up from the night before.
Plus, I always know that I’ll feel much better if I get my workout done first thing. It gives me positive vibes and keeps my energy up throughout the rest of the day.
Post workout, I enjoyed my new love; the buckwheat bowl.
For some reason, I find the middle of the week the hardest days to wake up early.
Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s feel pretty brutal, but other days are perfectly fine. I’m super duper excited since my new order from iherb came in, I ordered a new protein powder to try out. Well two actually…
I ordered a pea protein powder as well as the warrior blend from sun warrior (it’s a blend of cranberry, hemp, and pea instead of their usual brown rice).
After a few weeks without brown rice, I tried reintroducing my old sun warrior protein into my diet, but it was unsuccessful. Hello, stomach issues.
I’m going to try the new protein out tomorrow morning, so I’ll let you know how that experiment goes!
A little later, I took some shots…of almond butter that is.
For some reason, it’s so much more satisfying to freeze the nut butter ahead of time. It’s like fudge. I had an unpictured apple on the side. I’m pretty sure you all know what apples look like.
Now, I’m on the couch enjoying sipping a cup of my new favorite tea.
Yes, after I loved the initial taste, I went and ordered myself a tin of it! Delicious, spicy, and slightly sweet. Plus, I’m a cinnamon addict, so it was a guaranteed win.
Between this tea, my David’s supply, and now the Teavana I have, I’m slowly turning into a tea lover.
Just earlier this year I was saying how I hated tea because it tasted like dirty water. Well no longer do I feel that way.
Time to catch up on Pretty Little Liars. This is winning over the Bachelor.
What’s your favorite body part to train?
Least favourite?
Favorite protein powder?
Have a splendid day!!

I love the Sunwarrior blend too!
I’m so keen to try nut butter in the fridge now!:)
I definitely know what you mean about not liking your hardest muscle group. I used to hate working shoulders because they were so weak! Now I absolutely love working them.. I just had to get over that initial hate of not being strong enough!
I used to hate shoulders too! I guess now since I’ve worked them more I love them…now to work on those other groups I hate.
favorite: legs (because they’re the strongest)
least favorite: chest & back (because they’re the weakest)
I’ve never tried frozen nut butter before but it sounds amazing. For me my favorite body part to workout is my legs and least is definitely upper body. Pull ups are not my friend
Can you have whey protein? There are some good clean versions of them that are just pure whey with a little stevia and vanilla. I’m currently loving perfect fit protein but that’s brown rice too. Definitely try out the pea protein. I’ve heard good things about it!
It’s so good frozen for some reason! Ha. I feel you on pull ups. Totally not my friend. I can’t actually have whey. Showed up as an intolerance, plus it makes my skin really itchy! It’s weird. I tried the Sun Warrior, warrior blend (which is cranberry, hemp, and pea and it’s awesome!)
I hate exercising my abs – they’re definitely my weakest muscle group haha!
Do you go to pilates class or do videos at home? I’ve been wanting to try it but it’s only offered 1x a week at my gym and I can never make that time.
I do videos at home! Check out blogilates on you tube, I swear I use those workouts so much during the week! So good.
I’d say my legs are my favourite – probably because they’re the strongest!
I’ve never tried freezing nut butter, I may have to give that a shot.
Do it! It’s awesome.
I would never think to freeze nut butter! I always keep my peanut butter and almond butter in the fridge, but freezing it did not cross my mind. I will have to give it a try!
I just take a serving, wrap it in saran wrap and freeze it, so it’s easy to access! So tasty!
I REALLY want to order a protein powder but not sure which to order. It has to be CHEAP and not affect my stomach and its so hard to know what is best to go with. I don’t want to risk wasting money OR hurting my stomach more!
You should google the blogger “The Detoxinista”. She has a recipe for “Almond butter fudge” that is awesome.
I also made her “PB chocolate chip Blondies” and I ate the entrie pan….because I clearly have “issues”.
Oh, I’ve tried her almond butter fudge and you’re right it’s awesome! I haven’t made the PB blondies! Sounds good though. What kind of protein powders hurt your stomach the most right now? I know what you mean about not wanting to waste money! I really like the new sun warrior right now! It doesn’t hurt my stomach at all! I guess because there’s no brown rice protein.
Thanks. I haven’t bought any powders for a while now so I’m not sure what to try. IN past i’ve had success and failure with both whey and vegan ones. Vegan ones are “clean” advantage, but also can be quite funky and bloaty like or incomplete proteins. Whey has the advantage of a neutral, straight, highly bioavailable and LESS chance of stomach distress BUT also a chance of stomach distress since the whey might be “heavy”…
I can’t be silly and buy things too whacky.
What one are you using? Price? Make sense to order online and where or is it outrageously expensive
Also wondering if I ought to avoid xanthan gum or funky things because THAT can cause problems too. Yipes.
Very true Jill. I think a lot of it is trial and error, but like you said they are super expensive so it’s not always fun to do that! I know that hemp seems to be the best for my stomach, but honestly it kind of tastes like dirt ha. Unless you’re using it in baked goods. Right now, I’m using Now Foods pea protein (unflavored) and sun warrior warrior blend (natural flavor), I find the vanilla/chocolate blends seem to make my stomach act funky too, so if I want it flavored I just add my own vanilla or chocolate or sweetener to my smoothie/whatever I’m making at the time. Xanthan gum can definitely be tricky for us with stomach issues. For me, I can have it about 3 x per week in small doses (like 1/4 teaspoon) without having bad effects, so it’s probably best to avoid it for now, then reintroduce it and see if it causes you problems after then! I feel you, it’s not fun dealing with stomach pain!
Thanks. I’ll look into those you bought but I’m wary of pea protein (I’ve heard such mixed reviews). Maybe I’ll get the unflavored of SOMETHING (whatever I choose) though that sucks since unflavored isn’t that tasty. I have had good and bad results with whey in past (seems like my stomach issues show no pattern or consistency, that ALL over the place..I probably need to “strip” things down and do a hardcore elimination but am intimidated honestly). Whey is technically the most neutral and I’ve read repeatedly the actual least likely to disrupt tummy as long as its 100% isolate without artificial ingredients …but…
not sure if you ordered those from the now and sunwarrior sites or elsewhere? I seriously would LOVE to know if it was extremely affordable for you to buy this stuff. Thanks.
Yes, I’ve heard the mixed review from pea as well! It seems to be fine for me, but I guess it really depends for each person! Oh no, I don’t order the sun warrior of their site haha. Too expensive! I buy it off of iherb.com they have great prices on a lot of things!
Freezing nut butter! Where do you get these fabulous, crazy ideas Lisa? I love it!! I’m now envisioning mixing some almond butter with cocoa powder and stevia and freezing it. Hmmm….
Oh! The almond butter and cocoa together would be marvelous frozen! Genius!
I just can’t get into tea, especially black. No idea why but doesn’t sit well
It took me a while to get into it! But, perhaps it’s just not your thing!
Well to be fair, some tea CAN taste like dirty water
But when it comes to Hot Cinnamon Spice? Omigosh give me more. I kid you not that I buy a year’s supply at a time, and when I’m on my last bag, I go ahead and buy more. Can’t be without it. Addict much? Yes
As for protein powder, I don’t really use it. I’m working my way through what I had and then I don’t plan on buying any more. I really prefer to get my protein through actual food sources, and I just find that most powders goof up my stomach.
Well, you’ve got a new cinnamon spice tea addict on your hands too:) I’m for sure a new addict! It’s perfect to have before breakfast! I wish I preferred real sources of food for protein, but honestly I’m just not a huge fan so protein powders are a staple. It sucks…maybe I’ll eventually start to like beans, lentils, and meat more.
Oh gosh, I’m so not a fan of any hip related Pilates exercises hahaha that’s always torture to me :p For protein powders I usually switch between Vega protein and Sunwarrior.. lately it’s been Vega since it has higher calories haha
Oh yes! Hip stuff is torture for me too! My hips are always super tight. Guess I should stretch them more. Oops.
Frozen almond butter sounds amazing. I’m guessing I’d LOVE frozen peanut butter, too. After I click submit, I’m going to go make that happen!
My favorite body parts to train have always been my biceps and triceps, but lately I’ve been loving leg days. They give me major DOMS, but in such a good way.
Favorite protein powder is definitely MRM whey! I’ve tried plant-based proteins, but they all taste like dirt to me! I do like them in baked goods, though!
Happy Thursday, love!! xoxo <3
Try it out! For some reason it just tastes better frozen ha. I’m with you on loving triceps, they’re my favorite! I wish I could get more into the legs! I like glutes but otherwise ick! Haha, yah plant based proteins definitely don’t taste very good in smoothies! I always use them in baked goods otherwise I won’t use them. xox
Seriously! The ones I hate the most I am the weakest on. I.e; arms, upper body.
My favorite for the effects are glutes (butt) but easiest is by far the leg press.
Hardest (which shows how much stronger my legs are than arms) is the rowing machine and absolute most ridiculous for me is lat pulldown. I make such a fool every time with this one at the gym!
I have not had protein in a while because of stomach issues…. I would like to try the rice or pea since soy and dairy are the reason for my upset tummy! Let us know how they are
Ah the rowing machine and me have a love/hate relationship! I used to row, so I used to love it. Now it’s slightly more painful. Ha. The pea and hemp seem to be best on my stomach! Soy, whey, and brown rice just don’t do it for me! They hurt my tummy way too much!
So maybe this means I’ll start liking tea more soon?! I don’t know what an apple looks like, can you please post a pic for me? Too lazy to Google it. Kthanks.
It’s funny how some people loves squats (who are these crazies). I hate them too! However I love doing calves and biceps! Anything upperbody. I enjoy deadlifts and calves for lower body but haaaate lunges and squats. Oh and I dislike back too because I just feel like it’s something extra to do. I know back is important for a strong core but it’s hard for me to keep that in mind if I’ve already worked other muscles and just wanna be done with my workout.
Haha, love it. I know! Squats just KILL me. Man. Oh gosh, and don’t get me started on lunges. I feel like I’m dying a slow and painful death while doing them. I’m so normal;)
It’s funny, but my favorite body part to train *are* calves. Mine get fatigued easily, but I love the burn when I do calf raises.
I need to catch up on Pretty Little Liars too. Addicting to say the least.
I find the pain I get from working my calves just SO painful haha. It’s like I’m about to fall over because they are in so much pain. Ha. I love the burn of abs though, so maybe that makes me weird! I loooove Pretty Little Liars, it’s totally an addicting show! I even bought the first two seasons, because I kind of forget what happened back then! Seems so long ago.
I hope you have more luck with the new Sunwarrior! I love their stuff
I’m with you on the workouts too. Abs = love the burn, quads = I want to vomit
The burning of quads make me want to cry. I really like the new sun warrior!! Excellent! And doesn’t kill my stomach like the brown rice blend did! Yay!
