January Favorites

Bonjour! Here we are again; the end of one month and the beginning of a new one.

Maybe some people have dropped their New Years resolutions? I mean I sure hope not but I can definitely tell you that spin class are much less crowded now.

Can you even believe tomorrow is February 1st?! This is beyond bizarre to me. I mean, I still haven’t gotten used to the fact that it’s 2013.

With that being said, I want to share with you some of my favorite things from January.

Favorite Foods

Buckwheat Breakfasts

After having to give up my beloved dairy and eggs, I had to get more creative with Breakfasts and have been completely in love with buckwheat flour. It’s so versatile and I happen to love the strong Buckwheat flavor.

One word: Love

MaraNatha Almond Butter

Raw Almond Butter

I don’t think I need an explanation for why I love this stuff.

Favorite Drinks

Cinnamon & Spice Tea

Obviously, props go to Amanda for getting me hooked on this tea. Speaking of, I should go make myself another cup:)

Do we even need to say this one. Starbucks.

Duh.

Favorite Beauty Finds

Red Lipstick

red lipstick

As I mentioned before, I’ve become more adventurous in exploring different lip colors. In the past, I tend to stay with safe nude lip colors because I definitely like my eye makeup. I began experimenting with the red and realized how much I love wearing it out on nights where dressing up is a must.

Cake Desserted Island Shower Gel

shower gel

Now, this may sound like an intense scent for a shower gel and I normally like stuff that is very neutral smelling, because let’s face it. It just doesn’t smell great when you have a shower gel scent, plus perfume on top of that. This shower gel is perfect, because it leaves you with a very light fragrance so it never overpowers you.

Favorite Workouts

{ that would be kind of cool if there was a wine and pilates class, yes? }

Pilates, curtesy of blogilates.com. I can’t tell you how awesome it is to just roll out to bed, onto the matt without having to drive in the freezing cold to the gym;) You just need a little bit of equipment and you’re set. It’s been a nice break from the high intensity workouts, and I feel less anxious in general now that I am focusing my mind more during my workouts in this way.

I’ve also been toying around with the idea of getting my pilates teacher training certificate! The course doesn’t start until April, but I’m very intrigued.

This Marilyn Monroe quote is just beautiful. I love these words and that’s all I can really say about this quote. It truly speaks for itself.

  1. Love the quote too! Mine is: Let it come – let it go – let it flow.
My January favorite is my new straightener for my hair :-) And Sashimi! I had a lot of Sashimi lately and loved it.

  2. wine pilates? sign me up! or wine yoga! haha. And i LOOOOVE that ice cream. It’s hard not too. So much better than real ice cream, yes?

    • Right! That would be an amazing class! Let’s do wine pilates when we meet at some point, yes:)
I totally LOVE the coconut ice cream over real ice cream too!

  3. Mmm… You picked some winners there. Coconut ice cream and AB are divine! My January favourite was probably the big box of quest bars I worked my way through, or all the roasted veggies I have been eating since a less veggie-heavy holiday season.

  4. Love that quote Lisa! So happy you shared that. I’m right there with you on coffee being a favorite! I couldn’t get through my mornings without it!

  5. January favorites: bikram yoga!

  6. You definitely do not need an explanation when it comes to almond butter. That is a favorite of mine EVERY month!! ;)

  7. I was -this- close to publishing my january favorites post today  But it’ll be going up tomorrow instead. You definitely picked some amazing stuff, though. That quote – loooove it. That tea – no words ;) Starbucks – actually where I was standing when I got your e-mail yesterday <3 And red lipstick – I actually just fell in love with it myself last month after being a little afraid to wear it before.

As for a quote I love? Trust yourself, think for yourself, act for yourself, speak for yourself. Imitation is suicide.

  8. I looove cinnamon tea! I’ve never heard of that flavor, but I’m totally digging Twinning’s Orange & Cinnamon flavor right now.

  9. whoa I want that shower gel!

  10. wine and Pilates? I would totally be down. :-p

  11. My January favorites are definitely figs. I have the oddest craving for them lately!

I have been thinking about getting certified in Pilates for YEARS! I loved it in college and would love to be certified to teach! If my knee were better I would definitely take on the challenge with you! UGH. I want to so, SO bad.

Neverrrr tried buckwheat. I’m a little scared haha!

    • I still have yet to try figs! Yikes, I should get on that.
Buckwheat is definitely weird at first, but it grows on you! Haha.

  12. So many happy things! I LOVE it! I really need to figure out how to pull off red lipstick…

  13. I’ve seriously always wanted to try that cake shower gel. I was worried I would end up trying to eat it, though.

That tea sounds delicious! I am a total tea/Starbucks addict. Might have to get some soon!

  14. Happy almost-February, love!! I started laughing when I scrolled past the yoga for wine lovers graph–now THAT is some yoga I can do every day! I’ve been trying to motivate myself to get back into the yoga studio, but so far it hasn’t happened. If there was a little wine incentive, I’d be there in a second. :D

I’ve been loving red lipstick lately, too. I’ll have to try MAC–I’ve heard great things! And you already know how I feel about coconut milk ice cream. Swoon. I eat at least a few spoonfuls every day.

One of my January favorites: Starbucks foam-only mistos! I’m addicted.

    Love you!!! <3

    • Haha, that would just be an amazing yoga class. Wine will exercising, yes please;)
The Mac lipstick rocks! I definitely recommend it!
I need a foam only misto next time I get a coffee, which will obviously be tomorrow!

  15. i just love the end of that quote! such a great way to find a silver lining in the situations we don’t enjoy. yes sometimes life is tough but it always leads us to great things in the end. trust the universe baby!
so glad you posted the wine graphic again, oh man it never gets old. how appropriate that coconut ice cream is called bliss! but i still have only tried plain jane vanilla. gotta get my repertoire up.
can you believe i’ve never tried the mara AB?! i know, i know. i’ll do it.

    • Exactly what I was thinking:)
Haha, I’m a plain Jane too with the ice cream, purely vanilla for me.
You neeeeed to try this AB, it rocks!
