Happy Sunday!
It’s been quite a while since I’ve actually done a recap of my week in fitness. I figured now is a good time. Maybe I’ll start doing this every Saturday or Sunday. It will help keep me on track with my goals and progress, as well as satisfying some readers requests I’ve been getting!
My fitness routine has definitely been changing. I’m being careful with my intensity. Not going “full throttle” all out every single time I workout. It was just too much for my body to handle that type of intensity everyday.
It’s not normal to be so extremely tired after a workout that all you want to do is lie at home all day because you’re exhausted. That seems like a pretty obvious statement, but it took me a while to realize this myself.
You can tell by my workouts this week that I’m clearly obsessed with blogilates. I honestly find them just as good (or even better) than classes I’ve attended at home in the past.
Of course, you do miss that one on one interaction that pilates instructors provide, but if you’ve already attended classes before and know the technique, then I think it’s very safe and beneficial to do at home!

As you can see all my workouts (besides 2 spin classes) were completed at home. There is no need for a gym membership or gym classes if you can’t afford one. I found each of my pilates and weight workouts online on you tube.
I will keep repeating this that you do not need a gym membership to keep active, healthy, and fit. Just buy a set of weights and you’re set!
This week was more spinning than I usually do. I had recently taken 2 weeks off of spinning completely, so I definitely missed it a lot! It made me realize how much I really love spinning. I’m also super thankful we now have a spin bike at home, so if I miss a class I have the option of kicking my own butt at home. How fun!
How do you guys like this one day of recapping my week of workouts?
What was your favorite workout this week?
Have a fabulous rest of your Sunday!

I love Blogilates too and it’s really challenging. I do have a membership but I still love working out at home, it’s so easy! I had this experience with the tiredness after a workout too. I still tend a lot to overdoing it and need to schedule my restday every week!
I just love how it saves me time and I can usually get more done at home, for some reason I seem to get distracted at the gym (even though it should totally be the other way) hah.
Yeah girl! Congrats on an awesome week of workouts. And congrats on realizing what your body does/doesn’t need and being willing to accept lower-intensity workouts in order to treat yourself best! That’s sometimes a hard thing to do.
I’m trying to get through my first Chicago winter w/out getting a gym membership. It’s surprisingly easier than I thought it might be! #fingerscrossed
I have only heard of blogilates but have never actually tried it. it is nice you can do it all at home though, so convenient
It’s definitely super convenient! I love that fact, plus not paying for a gym membership is a plus.
Why do you do SO much of the at home workouts? Those tapes are 10-20 minutes long and you do multiple? Isn’t 1 or 2 enough? Seems way a lot of tapes.
Also, do you need a lot of space and coordinationn for them? I’ve no attention span or space. Oops.
I agree with Tamara, Why do you do so many workouts\? Afew of these are fine but you seam to do alot. Your eating also is not much to be doing all these workouts. You diet is mostly veggies and not many calories in them. You say you want to get better then try a bit harder and extend your way of eating…only my thoughts and \i have been though all of this before…
Hey Paige! It does look excessive when it’s written out like that, but I assure you I only workout for (at most) 65 minutes. Some of the videos I listed are actually only 5 or 10 minutes so it does seem like lots but quite a few of them are actually very short. You’re right. I do need to extend my eating habits, I’ve been trying really hard to work on this recently, but it has been hard since I’m still dealing with a lot of OCD and panic disorder issues as well. I do appreciate your comments!
Tamara, I wrote to Paige a bit about that above. You definitely don’t need too much space! I live in a suite and I don’t have that much room but I can still manage to do them. I just make sure I have some other distractions (like the TV on) while I’m doing them, otherwise my attention span goes right out the window! Not sure why…but having something else on seems to help.
I’m going to check out some of these workouts. Thanks for sharing!
No problem Kim!
You’e got some awesome motivation when it comes to working out at home, girlie! Big props to you
Back when I was doing more structured workouts, I actually really enjoyed being able to do some things at home, but there’s no denying that the atmosphere and equipment of the gym can’t be beat.
Very true! I think it just comes down to what each person prefers! I feel like I get too distracted at the gym, unless I go in there with plan! Otherwise I’m all over the place hah
I am a firm believer in effective at-home workouts. Zuzana regularly has me feeling the burn the next day. I love the wine-lover’s pilates thing too. I can see myself taking part in a similar fitness routine
I love Zuzana’s workouts too! I’ve had to back off of them for now, and miss them! I thought that image was pretty darn cool!
Pilates is great! I took a core conditioning class as an elective in college and it was largely focused around Pilates. I really enjoyed it, but haven’t done much since. I should really get back into it. Do you know of any good Pilates workout DVDs?
I’m actually not too sure on the DVD’s! I just really like the blogilates ones. Hmm…I’m going to go searching for some DVD’s this week I think!
Just found your blog and I love it
I’m totally into the youtube workout videos – TIU, POP Pilates, Jillian Michaels. And I definitely agree that you don’t need a gym membership to stay in shape! I actually cancelled mine as my 2013 New Year’s Resolution!
Thank you Lindsay!
You tube workouts are awesome, isn’t it so cool how fitness has evolved like this! I love it! I think that’s a great 2013 New Year’s resolution!
Wearing stilettos to work out? Yea, that doesn’t sound too safe to me either!
I did a heavy leg workout this last Thursday that was awesome. Until Friday when I could barely make it up and down the stairs. Intense.
Right! Glad I’m not the only one. Especially since I’m clumsy, I can just imagine I’d fall over myself and it would be one hot mess. That workout sounds intense but awesome hah.
Looks like you were busy! Haha I do enjoy Pilates and wine a lot.
Two of my favorite things;)
I continuously look to you as a source of inspiration in not having to do intense workouts every day! This is something I still REALLY struggle with. And it’s hard when I love some intense workouts like spin. I always think of you when I spin! Sometimes though I’ll want to do something more low key instead of spin – and I have to learn to be OK with that! Just because there is a spin class available for me to take doesn’t mean I have to take it.
Holy crap I love that pilates wine thing. You’re so right, I do love it haha.
Aw, that makes me happy Caitlin! It definitely is reassuring to know we don’t need to do those intense workouts everyday! It was something that was really, really hard for me to swallow at first. I know we share the same love of spin. It’s definitely been different to alternate the classes so that my heart rate doesn’t go as high and I’m not as intense as I’d like, but I know that with more effort into my recovery I’ll be able to return to the intensity I love! This break is only temporary. Haha. I knew you’d love it!
