Good morning, friends! It’s Friday, which let’s admit is awesome in itself.
Now, we’re back for another addition of Coffee Talk Friday.
Might as well end the week off light, with some weekly confessions, obsessions, and more.
1. The only thing I seem to be able to stomach veggie wise is chili.
It’s been a life saver the past week. Thank goodness I had a ton of extra frozen leftovers. I feel like I should start juicing or something, everyone is all about it. I’m starting to wonder if I’ll ever get better. My stomach is still tossing and turning. Last Friday, I caught a bug and was super sick, and since then, I just can’t quite shake it. It does seem to be improving each day by at least a tad. Hopefully it’s just a slow moving bug.
2. Kate Spade has the cutest iphone cases.
This case is very much needed. It’s kind of a must at this point. My plain one isn’t cutting it anymore.
3. This may come as a shock, but I just wanted you all to know that Breakfast was magical today.
Baked banana bread oatmeal. Clearly, I really like cinnamon.
Single-Serve Baked Banana Bread Oatmeal
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 tablespoon protein powder (I used natural, warrior blend)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup almond milk (you could use all water or all milk if you’d like)
- 1/2 mashed banana
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon stevia
- 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
Preheat your oven to 350. Mix dry, add wet. Pour into a lightly greased round baking dish. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the bake is firm.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be eating this most days of the week now.
4. Speaking of oats, this reminds me that I also bought some steel cut oats during the week, but I’m kind of hesitant to try them out. Not sure why, I think it’s because a serving size is so small. I just assume they won’t fill me up, but I have a huge bag of them now so I kind of need to put them to practice I guess.
5. Did you know this is the cutest invention ever?
I mean, seriously. I wish I was 5 years old still so that these would be perfectly acceptable to have. I mean, who wouldn’t want some magic wand salt and pepper shakers? I’m kind of thankful I’m single right now.;)
6. On my must make for the weekend…
Need I say more? Coconut Banana Bread from Heather; she’s amazing. I just need to find something to replace the eggs without using flax…I’m sure it’s doable.
7. Everyone should pick up this lipstick from Mac.
It’s called Frou, and no matter who I see wear this lip color, it looks amazing. All different skin types, hair colors, I swear it looks great on all. Like those travelling pants but in lipstick form.
Plus, I love that it’s a lighter, more calm color so you can play up your eye makeup more.
{ I’m wearing it in this picture, even though you can’t really tell. It’s a really pretty color though! }
8. Another fashion obsession I have at the moment? Lace short, black tights, and ankle boots.
Love, love, love. So adorable.
9. Lastly, I just wanted to throw out an apology to Greg.
I’m sorry I accidentally stole your americano. I totally thought it was mine until I got home and read the cup. Oops.
Have you ever accidentally taken someones drink?
What’s your favorite lip product? Any ones I should try out.
Do you use steel cut oats? How shall I use mine up?
Have an amazing Friday!

Oh these salt and pepper shakers are adorable!! I wouldn’t have found out what it is if you hadn’t wrote it
the outfit is supercute too. And I am sorry that you still don’t feel well. Maybe see a doctor? Warm Chilli and Bananas definitely always work when the stomach aches.
Aren’t they just the best, I love ‘em!
I saw someone from a clinic, but their not too helpful. I have an appointment with my regular Doctor in a few weeks, so hopefully it will be gone by then!
“i want to apologize to greg” lol!!!! itz ok im sure they made him another one!
Hahaha, I’m pretty sure they did too
Boy I hope you figure out this stomach stuff soon!
And as for Heather’s coconut bread, you probably could use chia seeds and some water, or make your own chia powder and add some water. Just like flax!
I know! It’s driving me slightly nuts.
Great idea! Thanks girl!
So many great things in here but I think those salt and pepper shakes are the best! I would have died to have those when I was younger. I wanted to be a princess! Loved the baked oatmeal recipe too! Happy Friday!
Me too Danielle hah!
Happy Friday!
That iPhone case is super cute. Now if only I had an iPhone!
Those salt and pepper shakers seriously made me laugh. How cool are those??
LOVE the lace shorts look. I am not sure if I could pull it off …you definitely could, though!
Haha, they are so awesome! I think I may need them;)
Happy Friday Hannah!
I would absolutely use those salt and pepper shakers…they’re so cute!
And I have steel cut oats but I don’t use them too often. They increase in volume a lot (so I wouldn’t worry to much about them not filling you up) but I’m a breakfast in 10 minutes or less kind of person, so I don’t have the patience for them.
That’s what I was figuring too. I’m not very patient when it comes to Breakfast, like at all ha. I’ll figure it out.
Hahaha that’s hilarious that you took someone else’s drink. Totally something I would do
Happy Friday!!! <3
Hi, which of these products do you recommend Lisa:
http://www.vitacost.com/productResults.aspx?NttSR=1&ss=1&x=0&y=0&ntk=products&Ntt=sunwarrior
And are those prices GOOD you think? Or should I order directy from Sunwarrior?
I have Lifetime Basics plant protein mix vanilla…tastes good, but the ingredient list is different than I thought
Can’t send it back now even though I only used 3 tbsps….wanna switch with something, ha?
I think I need to also order probiotics and L-glutamine ASAP…I just don’t know what site will ship FASTEST. Vitacost has LOW shipping cost but takes FOREVER to ship
I need CHEAP..like as cheap as walking into a grocery store…
My favorite is the sun warrior warrior blend – the natural flavor. However, I suggest vanilla if you like vanilla flavors! It’s a little weird not having a flavor, but I just like the option of adding my own to smoothies or baked goods. I prefer the warrior blend since it isn’t made with brown rice protein (I don’t like how it blends into smoothies – kind of chalky). The warrior blend is GREAT in baked goods and also really subtle in smoothies as well. I suggest vitacost, I find sun warrior very slow to ship and it’s more expensive.
I think those prices are very good! That or on iherb are my favorite sites to order cheap goods!
Again, for the probiotics and L-glutamine I suggest I-herb.com. They ship really fast! I live in Canada and I usually get my order with maximum 3 days! It’s amazing (I’m not affiliated to them or anything, I truly love the site). And definitely have cheap and awesome prices for lots of things!
Hi Lisa:)
Love your blog! To make steel cut oats more filling … Split the serving size and add a serving of oat bran…. Best of both worlds…..
But like you said the other day…..”it’s ok to eat more than the serving size”… You were referring to a nut butter but in relative terms… The oatmeal dilemma is a healthier “splurge”….at least on a regular basis:) but nut butter makes everything better… No doubt!
Good luck.
Thanks Missy!
Oh awesome tips! Thank you for that!
Very true, about the oatmeal dilemma:)
Hi Lisa,
Great post!! To increase the volume of steel cut oats I suggest taking 1/4 cup and them grinding them to a powder (I use my magic bullet but I’m sure a blender would work too.) then cook it on the stove top the same way you cook oats. I like adding 2T of rolled oats for body along with chia seeds and almond milk (1 cup liquid). It takes 5 minutes to cook because there is more surface area and it makes a big serving.
Enjoy! Have a beautiful Friday!!
Thanks for the tip Tiffany! Great ideas! I always prefer a bigger serving to enjoy:)
Have a great Friday too!
Aaahhh! Those salt and pepper shakers are so cute!! The coconut banana bread looks phenomenal too, something that would definitely catch my eye. I have never made steel cut oats, mostly because I’m lazy and impatient and they just take too long. I am very happy with my oat bran these days, it’s so quick and easy to make in the microwave
That’s why I love oat bran too! So easy.
holy crud no, the girl who collects salt and pepper shakers is now on the search for those bad boys
Love the lace shorts and ankle boots – so freakin cute!!! I’ve definitely grabbed for someone’s drink, but never taken a sip. I have taken someone’s french fry off their tray as an order came up (totally thought they were my fries!) They were not pleased with me – understandable.
Haha, really! I wouldn’t think that would be a huge deal, some people…;)
My boyfriend is not a Starbucks guy so whenever we go in, he just orders a random drink off the menu. After a few minutes, I picked up my drink and he grabbed whatever drink was next to mine at the counter. Then, a man came to our table and told him he stole his drink haha. We felt so bad because the guy had to wait longer for the his own drink. My boyfriend didn’t even realize he ordered a cold drink and picked up a hot one.
Haha oh man, that’s too funny. So awkward when these things happen!
I am definitely making this banana bread! I saw Jessica’s (how sweet it is) recipe for coconut banana bread but wasn’t a fan of the recipe, so I think I’m going to try and mesh these together. Hopefully things turn out okay!
Steel Cut Oats look deceiving when you make them. They sort of “puff up” and they have a SUPER chewy texture so even though the serving size is so much smaller… It is more filling than oats. You’ll definitely like them!
I saw that recipe too, and was considering it, but this one looks much more my taste!
I think that would turn out wonderfully! Well, hopefully;)
How can banana bread fail though?
I can’t wait to try them out now!
Thanks for the shout out girlie! And you should try that Ener-G egg replacer! Heather (from Better with Veggies SWEARS by it for baking!) I really really hope you like it…it’s BY FAR my favorite thing that I’ve ever baked!
I’ve never taken anyone’s coffee before, but I did get all the way out to my car once at the gym with someone else’s KEYS!! I felt like the biggest idiot! Lol I’ve only had steel cut oats a handful of times. I seem to remember them filling me up, but they just take so darn long to cook and I am SO not a patient person when it comes to my breakfast! And I’ve recently become attached to EOS lip balm…just picked up my first one the other day and I love it! Happy Friday gorgeous!! xoxo
Thanks for the suggestion! That sounds like a great plan.
I can’t wait to try it out. I have the afternoon free tomorrow and plan to bake it up! So excited.
Haha, oh man with someone else’s keys. That’s pretty epic;)
I’m totally not a patient person either, which is why I’m hesitant to cook those darn steel cuts!
The magic wand pepper and salt shakers? Who wouldn’t want those? They’re adorable!!
Happy Friday
!
Right, I love them!
It took me a second to figure out what the magic wands were. I thought maybe they were to “pretend” to turn their food into something they wanted to eat
Ha! I just pinned that lipstick and am hoping to go shopping this weekend so I’ll have to go check it out. I’m not a huge steel cut oat fan but have made a good crockpot pumpkin pie steel cut out recipe that was pretty good!
Hahaha, not quite;)
It’s definitely a cute color! Nothing too drastic though, that’s for sure.
I’ll have to try out your recipe!
you always make me hungry for simple goodness! i love your creations, especially lately! and yes, i am almost 30 and want that pepper and salt shaker
Why thank you my dear friend:)
Hope everything is going smoothly for you over there!
That Chili looks smazing! I hope you feel better really fast! I’m obsessed with cinnamon and banana combo. Steel cut oats are awesome!
Love those lace shorts too! Very cute!
I’m so obsessed with banana and cinnamon combo too! Delicious!
Hope you are feeling better soon! I always keep soup in the freezer for when I am not feeling 100%. That baked oatmeal looks wonderful!
Thank you!
bahahaha about the drink!!! Love that! I hope you are feeling 100% here soon. I don’t know what it is about this year and people getting sick. It has been a bad year for that!
I’ve been feeling much better thank goodness! Hopefully, this bug is gone for good!
cook you steel cut oats in half apple juice half water, add a little cinnamon and a ton of grapes, strawberries etc. and you won’t regret it. It is so good and super filling and chewy!
Thanks for the suggestions!
I LOVE Kate Spade’s iPhone cases – I need to get a new one too
And I’m obsessed with Mac’s lip gloss, I’m going to have to try out your lipstick recommendation!
It’s adorable!
OMG OMG OMG! When I was little I remember celebrating someone’s birthday at school. We pushed all our desks together and we all got cupcakes and juice… Well when I was eating, I accidently drank from the girl next to me’s cup… and OMG I was sooo embarrassed back in the day that I cried! AHHH HA HA HA HA!! Life was so hard back then, LMFAO!
Hahaha, oh yes the tough times back in the days where I cried when someone simply pushed me;)
I think you should get those S&P shakers regardlesss-they are SO fun!!
An Americano sounds just about perfect right now. I have that mid-afternoon struggle hitting me right now.
I know, they are just the cutest!
I’m confused about your saying the serving size is smaller. 1/4 cup of SCO makes about a cup of wet oatmeal for me. I usually take one cup of uncooked SCO and boil it with 4 or 4.5 cups water (if I add banana and dried cherries or other fruit). After it comes to a boil, give a stir, take off the stove and cover it and leave on stove top overnight. Will be read in the am. You get at least 4 big cups of oatmeal out of it and the calories are for 1/4 cup dry, which is like 150 I think.
Hey Bethany!
Yes, I guess it’s because it’s 1/4 cup of SCO compared to the 1/2 cup of oatmeal I’m used to that I assume it won’t fill me up as much. So I kind of “worry” the 1/4 cup won’t fill me up as much the normal 1/2 cup oatmeal usually would. I know it’s silly since it most likely expands in size. Just a weird food quirk I have I suppose.
Does that even make sense? haha.
Sorry for the confusion!
