Confessions

Happy Friday! It’s finally February! Did anyone else feel like this week dragged?! Someone asked me what day it was on Tuesday and I totally thought it was Thursday. Sadly it was not. However, Friday finally is here.

Right now, I’m sitting here with my big cup of coffee, a side of water and some strawberries to snack on before I break for Lunch. This makes me really wish it were Summer time.

Confession 1 - Something weird happened the other morning. I made oats without pumpkin.

banana oats

{ old photo, but you get the gist }

I almost forgot you can make oatmeal without pumpkin, I had just gotten so used to eating it every morning. I also realized how underrated a simple banana can be when added to a good bowl of oats in the morning. Sometimes it’s nice to go with a classic.

Confession 2 - Loving this list for 5 rules to happiness.

happiness rules

I think these are such key points and so important. It can be hard to implement these things into our daily life, but once we free ourselves from over-thinking and looking at the small moments in life, it makes life much easier to navigate. Plus, these things are super simple, it’s just a matter of doing them. You never know unless you give it a try!

Confession 3 - I’m kind of obsessed with coconut milk.

coconut milk

I’ve been loving it in Breakfasts, smoothies, snacks, making them into hot chocolate, or curries. Yum. Just all about this right now.

Confession 4 - This is the funniest thing ever.

funny

I literally can’t stop laughing everytime I see it.

Confession 5 - I’ve been going back and forth this week whether I want to return to school, or do a pilates teacher training course, or do this and that, all the while I’m doing nothing about these things.

just do it

For one, I’m scared I’ll fail. I don’t like to fail. Another, I’m scared I’ll make the wrong decision. You know how I’m going to reverse this- not by making a bazillion pros and cons lists (which I usually do), but just do it. If it doesn’t work, then hey at least I know and I can move on to the next one. Well, that makes much more sense written out than in my head.

Confession 6 - It’s become apparent in my kitchen right now that I’ve been completely slacking in the baking department.

cookie dough balls

{ these cookie dough balls are about the only creative thing I’ve been making…which take about 2 minutes to throw together }

Hm, I think this needs to change this weekend! Who has any recipes they’d like to provide me with?:)

Confession 7 - Apparently sriracha is really, really in right now.

sriracha heels

If you can’t get enough of sriracha in your food, you will just love it on your feet.

Do people really like sriracha that much, they’ll wear those shoes? I mean, I like pumpkin but you will never find me in pumpkin shoes…not that they’d make those anyways.

Confession 8 - New show addiction on my hands. Revenge.

revenge

Okay, I actually started this show months ago and then forgot about it when some other show returned to actual TV, but I watched this again and was reminded why this show is so good. Great, another time suck on my hands.

Confession 9 - Somehow I’ve become obsessed with changing my nail color way too often.

OPI nail polish

I used to be too lazy to paint my nails, but now I just can’t help myself. There are just to many pretty colors to not paint my nails now.

Confession 10 - Now, I’m nice and caffeinated so I’m off to get the day started!

i love coffee

Later!

Any recipe suggestions for this weekend?

What color are your nails painted?

Do you like coconut milk?

Happy Friday! Have a safe, sound, and fabulous weekend!

  1. JUST DO IT – Amen!! I am excited for you to consider new challenges and can’t wait to hear what your decision is! It can’t be wrong anyway, it will just be different fro the other. I will bake the Savory Muffins which Meg posted lately http://adashofmeg.com/2013/01/22/0123-wiaw-and-three-new-recipes/ can’t wait!
My nails are dark red currently. I will probably change it twice on the weekend :-)
    Coconut milk?? OBSESSED!!

  2. Lately I’m in between bold nail varnishes and neutral nail varnishes. I’m currently wearing a neutral one called, Caramel Cupcake, which both looks good and sounds yummy.

That bear keeps springing up in my Facebook news feed and never fails to make me laugh. This has happened to me many a time!

And that has become my new motto; You won’t know until you try! So, lately I’m trying.

Have a great weekend Lisa :D

    • Oh, those sound beautiful!
Haha, it’s so funny. I died when I first saw that photo.
Hope you had a fantastic weekend Chloe!

  3. Great post! And I love yellow bowl…need to get more colors into my kitchen …this picture made me smile :-) I am making breakfast right now, but have no bananas so gonna add rasins as usually i do :-) Oh and also that bear is so funny :-) )) hehehe
    Thanks for this post x

    • No problem!
      Glad you enjoyed it!
I love adding colours from bowls, they’re so pretty at first I didn’t want to eat from them;)

  4. Hahaha that polar bear picture is so true – I do that all the time on campus and it makes me feel SO awkward. :P

I’m always scared to make life choices because of fear of failure too – but you’ll never know until you try! And if you want it badly enough, I don’t think failure is an option. I’m excited to see what you decide to do!

    Happy Friday girl.

    • Hahaha, it used to happen to me ALL the time at school! It was just awful;)
Yo’re so right about failure not being an option, and honestly I don’t think it’s failing if you at least try, right!
Hope you had a fantastic weekend! Miss you!

  5. I need to start watching revenge. I’ve heard too many things about it.
And Nike is right. Just do it. The worst that can happen is nothing happens, right? It’s definitely terrifying but i’m confident you’ll be able to do it if you want to. Have a great day, girl!

    • It’s really good! I for sure suggest it.
It’s so scary to make changes, but I know good things can only happen from them, you’re so right!

  6. i need to paint my nails! maybe i will tonight since we have no plans. they just take so darn long to dry!!

  7. When do I NOT have recipe suggestions for you to try? Lol. Too much pinteresting I guess :)

    Banana Chai Ice Cream: http://www.empoweredsustenance.com/easy-banana-chai-ice-cream-paleo-and-allergen-free/

With Confession #5, have you decided which route that you’re just “going to do” yet?

  8. #2 totally rocks. I love that :) .

I would never think to put coconut milk in hot cocoa, but that sounds amazing. Thanks for the great idea!

LOVE the dark nail polish…I am a sucker for the blacks/navys/dark purples and greens. I cannot get enough of them :) .

  9. That polar bear photo – priceless. I think we’ve all done that!
Right now, I just have Essie’s clear ‘Grow Stronger’ on my nails. I literally have the flimsiest nails on the planet, so I’m trying to toughen them up so I can grow them out a bit (that’s what 5+ years of wearing gel nails will do to you…I removed them in the summer and my nails are still recovering)

    • So funny, when I first saw it I kept on trying to go to sleep but couldn’t because I’d start laughing just thinking about it. Oh gosh.

  10. Wow, and I thought the CHOCOLATE was taking it too far, but SHOES???? That just isn’t right. My vote is back to school! I have actually been checking out UVic for my masters and it looks like a great school. Any words of wisdom from a local?

    • Isn’t it too crazy?!
UVic is totally a great school, the only thing is it is extremelyyyy cliquey. It’s the one thing I find hard about Victoria is that people have their “groups” and become so attached to them, so it’s pretty hard relationship wise. It was basically high school all over again when I first went back to school, which I didn’t like since I hated high school haha, but it is GREAT for academics! I’ve been thinking about going back there, or maybe even moving to go somewhere else, it’s a tough call!

  11. Well your definition of kitchen slacking is my definition of baking for two years so I still give you props :) HOLY CRAP I LOVE REVENGE. My mom has been away so I haven’t seen the latest ep, waiting for her to watch it. She loves the scandal (and the men, well not Conrad). Now she’s back so we will be able to watch next week. Thank you for giving me that hilarious polar bear image to pin. I totally have done what he did so maybe I can relate to him and that’s why I love it so much.
I didn’t know you were thinking about pilates teacher training! That’s incredible. I get scared of the future too – making the wrong choice, and if it’s a hard to reverse choice, how to live with that and fix it. Try meditating and closing your eyes and picturing your truest, happiest self. Did that Lisa go to school or do teacher training? In the end after all it is about your happiness!

    • IT’S SO GOOD! Sorry got a little excited:)
Hahaha, the polar bear still makes me laugh everytime. Or when I think about it. I swear it happens to me like every week.
Yes, I’ve been seriously considering it and am scheduled to talk to a lady soon!
It’s tough to decide, but you’re right I need to tune in and meditate with these thoughts!

  12. I’ve been having a serious internal debate about what direction I want to take my life in too, so I’m definitely feeling you on that one :? Right now I’m prepping for going back to school, but I’m still not entirely sure it’s something I want to do, and I think the fear of failure is part of the reason I’m so hesitant. Gah. Maybe I’ll go into more detail about that in my e-mail :)

Coconut milk = love! Try replacing some of the water in your oats with coconut milk. Heavenly. And nails? Right now they’re hot pink

    • It’s such a tough choice!! Ah, kills me sometimes thinking about it haha.
      Can’t wait to read your e-mail :D
Oh my gosh, I tried coconut milk in oats and holy amazing! How did I ever live with just water?!

  13. I just painted my nails navy with gold sparkles on my ring finger :)
LOVE coconut milk. I recently started whipping it and using it on pancakes, so delicious!

  14. I’m in love with coconut milk too! I can totally relate to you in the which path to go confusion. I’ve definitely struggled with this so much in the past and I would say go with what your heart wants. If you choose the logical direction you may not find that true happiness. Always here!

  15. I love confession #4. Why because it’s happened to me many times. It’s always so embarrassing. I remember tapping a girl on the shoulders from behind and saying “Kristen…” she turned around and I awkwardly said “that’s not KRISTENNN.”
    It was too funny.

I also got into Revenge. I started watching it on Netflix and have completely finished all the episodes they provide on Netflix. I’m not currently watching Breaking Bad. Almost done with all the episodes of that too.

  16. I much prefer the full fat coconut milk. REAL food in all its splendour :) No “Earth Choice” here though…usually “Thai kitchen” (?) has guar gum in it too…yours?

How do you sort through your thoughts so well? Why am I always a bluster of craziness and confusion and lack of organization. HELP :) Let me know how to organize my life, goals, rantings :)

As for recipes. The one you posted above…okay, so I have NO control and will eat all 6 in one sitting (5 minutes) literally. I wish I were joking but I’m not….

On that note, look at these recipes!!!

    http://www.foodiefiasco.com/2012/05/25/all-for-one-chocolate-chip-cookies/

    http://nourishedandnurtured.blogspot.ca/2011/07/chewy-cinnamon-almond-cookies-gluten.html

And remember the “Fudge” and peanut butter blondies” from “THE Detoxinista”…Yums!!!

    • Full fat for the win! It’s so good! Yah, unfortunately it has the guar gum added! Next time, I’m going to pick some up without it and see how it compares.
Haha, I don’t always sort through my thoughts all that well! I just make sure to journal each night and meditate in the morning, it seems to have helped a lot!
Thanks so much for the suggestions, they look amazing!

  17. What is the deal with siracha?! I see it everyyyywhere and I have never tried it.. I really hope no one buys those shoes. That would be weird. lol And YES this week went by SO freaking slow. Happy Friday, love! <3

  18. I need to try canned coconut, I am super intrigued by it.

  19. Polar bear definitely made me laugh, I do that shit all the time. So embarrassing. I’ve NEVER tried coconute milk. I have some in my pantry but I haven’t gotten around to using it yet.

You should make Oh She Glows rustic banana cake. It’s delicious.

  20. loved each of your confessions esp number 3 and 4. I like my coconut milk with oatmeal and curries. I am making these scones again tonight – thought you might enjoy it too! http://www.foodpleasureandhealth.com/2013/01/chocolate-chip-banana-bread-scones.html
I go through phases with nail polish because I hate when it gets chipped and end up removing them too often. Right now – I have none :(

  21. Just wondering why you recently changed your blog format so that you have to press “click here” to read on! I think it would be more convenient for your readers if you went back to the original format, just an opinion!

    • Thanks for the opinion Angela! I’m still playing around with it, so I’m just going to see what others prefer! I definitely understand the convenience so thank you for the input!

  22. blog twin again :-) Is that OPI My Private Jet? I love that color! Now only if I took the time to paint my nails…
Are you going to Blend Retreat, Lisa? I just signed up this morning! So excited!

    • I haven’t signed up to go! I wonder if they still have tickets. I was seriouslyyyy considering it but then wasn’t sure if I’d have time in my schedule, even though now it looks like I will. Hm.
So funny we’re blog twins again:)
Haha YES! It is My Private Jet!! It’s so pretty.

  23. I just made those cookie dough balls.. they are delish!! That bear picture made me laugh out loud. So adorable!!

  24. I’m new to your blog and just wanted to tell you I think it’s really awesome! I love these confessions – I can relate to so many! :)

  25. Having read this I thought it was extremely enlightening.
I appreciate you spending some time and effort to put this article together.

I once again find myself personally spending a lot
of time both reading and commenting. But so what,
    it was still worth it!
