What I Ate Wednesday

Good Morning! Hope everyone is having a beautiful day so far! Thanks for all the love filled comments on yesterdays post.

Things are going well and dandy over here, besides my stomach still having issues. I’m feeling better, but constantly feel nauseous. It’s quite literally constant so that’s no fun to deal with. Now, I dislike to fuss about how I’m feeling, so just had to get that out of my system before continuing.

Enough chit-chat let’s get the What I Ate Wednesday party started.

mint tea

Harney & Sons Organic Green Tea with Mint.

This month is supposed to be all about the veggie love, but nothing makes me feel more sick then the thought of eating vegetables right now. In fact, it’s basically been Breakfast all day everyday.

Before breaking into Breakfast, I made a cup of tea. Tea has been present in my diet up to 6 times per day. What can I say, it’s one of the things that has been actually soothing to me.

Breakfast happened a little while later. Bananas are like one of those magical food items for stomach troubles. Makes me feel so much better.

banana oat bran

Banana oat bran – chia seeds, almond milk, 1/2 a banana, cinnamon, a little stevia, coconut butter. Mmmm.

I was going to freeze the other half banana, but decided to use it in my Lunch instead…

Lunches have looked a lot like Breakfast.

kashi cereal

Kashi cinnamon harvest, a few strawberries, banana, almond milk, protein powder, and almond butter.

Cereal for Lunch, don’t mind if I do.

I totally though cereal was one of those foods I couldn’t get full off of, but when I use ingredients like protein powder, coconut milk, and healthy fats like almond butter, it helps keep me pretty satisfied. Plus, it doesn’t make my stomach go wonky.

Snacks have been kept simple…

apple

Apples of all kinds with almond butter.

coconut milk ice cream

My favorite coconut milk ice cream.

There was only about a serving remaining, so I ate it straight from the carton. No shame.

cookie dough bites

Or cookie dough bites.

Dinners have mostly been in the form of soups.

lentil soup

Lentil Soup. With tomatoes, spinach, zucchini, celery, carrots, and some added nutritional yeast.

Until my stomach is feeling better, I guess I’m perfectly fine with my eats looking like this. On the plus side, it wasn’t completely veggie-less. Sometimes you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do. I’m not into eating things just because I feel like I “have to”.

It’s nice to say that, since before I would force myself to eat vegetables at every meal because I’m “supposed to”. Some days won’t be as ideal as the previous day.

How do you heal a sore stomach? I’m beginning to wonder if something is wrong with me…

What are your favorite simple snacks?

Do you crave sweet or savory?

Hope you’re all enjoying some wonderful eats today! Eat some veggies for me, why don’t you:)

  1. Goodness….sorry your stomach’s still not feeling right. I think your eats look pretty good for not feeling all that great. Nothing ever wrong with breakfast throughout the day!

  2. I suffer stomach issues and have to get tablets from the doctors, so it could be worth a trip to just check everything’s ok. Breakfast for Dinner or Lunch is always the best!

  3. your eats are never boring. In fact, they make me crave coconut. lol! and soup! i’ve been on a soup and green tea kick too!

  4. Your poor tummy! Bananas are greet for an upset stomach. I also like apples, kombucha, PB toast, and matzo ball soup. Hope you’re better soon!

  5. Stomach issues are the worst. Are you still not feeling well after eliminating your sensitivities? I hoped you would be different than me :( Haha. I didn’t feel good still after getting rid of all of my allergic foods either. Have you gone to a gastroenterologist or doctor? Personally they weren’t able to help me much, just prescribe a lot medicine that didn’t work.

Maybe you should look into some alternative treatments. I’m doing GAPS, which sounds kind of insane when you first read about it, but everything makes complete sense. I actually did an update today, and while my diet is pretty limited, I’m able to eat larger quantities than before and feeling MUCH better.

The two things that I recommend for stomach woes are homemade chicken broth, and peppermint or ginger tea. So soothing.

  6. As always your food pictures are the best! My favorite simple snack is almonds or an apple with peanut butter. I crave sweets!!! Have a great day :)

  7. I’m sorry to hear you’re still not feeling so great! Even so your meals look great! When my stomachs feeling off I usually try to stick to a really plain and bland diet. I would definitely try reaching out to your doctor or allergist again, maybe something you’re eating is causing you trouble? I hope you feel better very soon!

  8. I really hope you feel better soon! Feeling nauseous all of the time sounds absolutely miserable :( .

Onto a more positive note…that soup looks amazing! I LOVE lentils :)

Sweet or savory? How about both! I love a good sweet AND savory combination.

  9. I won’t go near veggies when my stomach’s upset either…I’m sorry that yours is still bugging you! My favourite stomach healers are bananas, toast (preferably cinnamon toast) and soups. Hope you feel better ASAP.

  10. Have you tried probiotics? I had stomach issues after a mexico trip and I took probiotics for about a month and it helped when nothing else did..

  11. Oh no I hope you feel better! Usually my go to’s are bananas and icecream lol. Sometimes bread and butter if it’s around :)

  12. Awwr sorry about the lingering stomach woes. Is it the flu or something different? My mom had a nasty flu not too long ago and her stomach was kind of wonky for about 4 or 5 days. Hope that you feel better soon!

And your eats are seriously right up my alley. That’s how I end up eating most of the time, and I don’t even have the excuse of being sick :P I just find that breakfast type foods are the ones that cause my stomach the least amount of distress, so I tend to stick to those. I do my best to get some veggies in every day, but I’m definitely not going to try and force them down like I used to.

  13. I suffer stomach troubles and like to use mint tea to sooth my stomach or some form of zevia carbonated beverage made with stevia! I stay away from cows milk because it really makes my stomach hurt but yogurt doesn’t for some odd reason. I usually crave sweets and love snacking on Luna Bars!

  14. when I am sick the last thing I want is veggies to. some days i don’t even want veggies! got to go with what your body feels like having

  15. Hope your stomach issues clear up soon! My stomach has been off lately too so I’ve been eating lots of dry wraps and cereal.

  16. oh no hope you feel better soon :( i drink lots of peppermint tea when ive got a bad stomach and that sometimes settles it.
    :)

  17. Oh no, girl I am sorry for you not feeling well!! I think you are doing great with the food but maybe you really should see a doctor….. I love bananas or warm oat-porridge when I feel nauseous. Simple, plain and warm.

  18. i haven’t add oat bran in far too long, looks yummy… especially with the coconut butter.

  19. I love puddings as snacks with crackers or some greek yogurt with cereal or snackimals :) I’m pretty sure if you’re eating throughout the day your tummy is getting better but the bug is holding on. I’m sure you’ll be okay in a couple of days! If not, you might want to head over to the doctor. Do you have fever?

  20. Bananas really are a magical stomach food. Even in India (where nausea can be ROUGH), a banana was like a gift from god. Hope you’re all patched up soon! xo

  21. So sorry your still not feeling good. I eat the exact same way when I’m sick as far as breakfast foods all day. I tend to just eat smoothies, and apples or bananas with almond butter. Of coarse, soups for dinner! Hope you feel better soon!

  22. I have been meaning to try that brand of coconut milk ice cream so I’m glad it got your approval. ;-) Simple is the way to go for me as well when my stomach isn’t feeling its best. I can’t say enough good things about ginger for helping an upset stomach though. Raw ginger, ginger tea, ginger chews, and any other form you can think of!

  23. Aw, I’m sorry the stomach issues are persisting. I was hoping they’d at least easen up as with all of the foods you gave up on. Wish there was a magic cure for your troubles! Don’t your doctors have any other ideas what it might be?

Still, I’m impressed by how well you eat and how creative your meals are despite the limitations and your stomach troubles. I’d happily let you cook for me :) . And that Coconut Bliss? I’ve seen it at the vegan supermarket in Berlin at the weekend and wished I could have gotten a pint. Sigh.
