Coffee Talk

Finally it’s Friday, this week seemed to last forever. It’s weird how weeks either pass by fast or slow, never at normal speed. Does that even make sense? Probably not…anyways.

Sometimes life likes to get hectic on us. This has been one of those weeks. They happen, maybe I’ll get into it more later, but for now let’s end the week on a light note in the form of another round of coffee talk. So grab a cup and let’s get to it.

1. For some reason I’m completely obsessed with smoothies.

vegan green smoothie

I used to be a total non smoothie person. Assuming they’d never fill me up, that they just didn’t work for me. Now I have at least 3 a week.

2. Speaking of smoothies, if you can’t have whey or don’t eat it buy the sun warrior (warrior blend)!

warrior blend

Using brown rice protein powder, made my smoothies have the taste and texture of dirt. The new sun warrior (cranberry, pea, and hemp blend) is absolutely amazing and I can’t get over how much better it is than the brown rice versions!

Also, I understand now that to make a smoothie filling, I must add adequate fats (avocado, nut butter, chia seeds), good quality protein (sun warrior), and veggies/fruits (berries, bananas, spinach, romaine).

3. This looks like the perfect Americano, I could hardly contain my excitement when Katie posted it!

at home americano

That may make me lame, but we all know how much I love my Americano’s. Plus, it’s made to please the strong coffee lovers. Just how I like my americanos; black and strong.

4. My obsession with tea is getting out of control.

davids tea

A trip to the mall today resulted in tea and book purchases. I couldn’t even believe it when I looked at the receipts and the tea happened to be more expensive than the books I bought?! Since when is this allowed to happen? Not too long ago, a trip to the book store would make my wallet cry, but I managed to escape with 2 great books, only $26! In a world where tea is more expensive than books, it’s just not right. Must be because all the e-readers now a days.

5. This video I first saw on Chelsea Lately, had me dying a little on the inside.

I honestly couldn’t contain my laughter. I’m not even too sure why I find it so funny, it just is.

6. Remember when Laguna Beach was all the rage and everyone was totally obsessed with the red cups?

red cups

Well, take a look at these fancy upgrades of them. I’m embarrassed to say I’d totally use these, because I still happen to think they’re pretty neat.

7. Agreed.

coffee

With that, I bid you adieu!

What’s some coffee talk you’d like to share from the week?

Any new food items you’re loving that I need to try out?

Do you prefer “real books” or books via e-readers? I just love paper books so much, I can’t get on board with my e-reader. I tried to love it, but just miss the book experience too much. I’m a nerd.

Have a beautiful Friday!

  1. I like paper books too! I have a Nook, but I still enjoy going to the library and checking out “real” books!

  2. Hahahah depresso.. so true. I’d probably drink out of those red cups, too ;)

  3. I can’t get along with the e-Reader either. Books smell so goos, I love bookstores and libraries, I even love to just look at my filled up book shelf :-)
I need to make a smoothie soon, you made me crave one! And I am with you on all the ingredients you listed!
    Happy Weekend Beauty!!

  4. I totally agree with what you are saying. It seems like weeks either FLY by or DRAG on. Luckily for me, this week was one of the one’s that flew by. It probably helps that it is a really busy time at work for me right now.

I am a little ashamed to admit it, but I used to be obsessed with Laguna Beach (AND The Hills). Those “fancy” red Solo cups are hilarious!! They sure make drinking out of a red Solo cup a bit classier ;) .

I have not gotten into the Kindle/iPad phenomenon yet. I actually really prefer to have the actual book in my hands. There is just nothing better than the smell of a new book, the crispness of the pages, and the act of actually turning pages. Wow, I sound like a nerd.. ;) .

  5. i thought i loved real books and then my hubby got me a kindle and itz amazing! so light, so easy to buy books, and can be taken anywhere!!

  6. I have an ereader… I thought I’d miss paper books but I LOVE the convenience of digital- especially when it comes to reading in bed/bath or travel. I do miss the thrill of going to the bookstore though – I still go & browse from time to time… and I still shop at second hand bookshops. :D You NEED to try “Bulletproof coffee”. Coffee + butter + coconut oil. OH YES. Seriously, google/try it. It’ll change the way you look at coffee. Hahaha! Have a good weekend Lisa! xoxo

  7. I need a real book if I’m going to read. Between blogging and schoolwork, I basically stare at a screen all day – I don’t want to do so while I’m reading to relax at night too!

  8. Ha! I love the red wine cups! That is hilarious! I’ve heard good things about that book. It’s on my list to read :-) I prefer holding a book but only if it’s not a huge hard cover. I’m reading one of those right now and it’s so hard to hold in bed. I’ve used out ipad a few times to read and it’s okay, just takes some getting used to and I think I’m just old fashioned about books :-) Hope you have a great Friday Lisa!

  9. I’m split between regular books and using my iPad…there will always be something about a regular book that just feels right! I got my soy decaf latte from Starbucks this morning – happy Friday treat. Hmmm..this week I was loving making grilled cheese with daiya. I hadn’t used it in forever so it was a nice treat if you’re in the mood for something “cheesy”!

  10. Three cheers for strong coffee (and Fridays)! Thanks for sharing! <3

  11. Not to be totally politically incorrect (except I’m about to be), but I totally laughed when you said you liked your americanos “black and strong.” Haha! Also, that cup is awesome.

    • Hahaha, I was wondering if anyone would catch that. I was up late writing it, and couldn’t think of anything else hah. Oops ;)

  12. Have you read Chelsea’s books? I love them, I get such a kick out of her humor

  13. I am all up for tea but I noticed that tea, especially in tin containers and fancy ones cost an arm & a leg..thats wrong!!!! I prefer actual books over e-reader ones, it does not feel like reading at all to me..so glad this week is over :) have a great weekend Lisa

  14. I wrote about Laguna Beach in my post today too haha! How strange :)

  15. we are turing into e-book kind of girls :)
and totally agree with #7, we get like that with our coffee cups and coffee talks, hate it when it is over!
    hugs

  16. HO-LY-CRAP. do i need that red solo cup martini glass or WHAT?!?!
how is that book? it’s on my to-read list!
ahhh americanos. the only espresso drinks i like – because like you, my coffee must be STRONG!

    • I’m super impressed you were able to find it!
The book is pretty good so far! A bit slow to start out!
Yes coffee must always be strong!

  17. girl you are never lame. Americanos are a gift from GOD!

  18. I bought a couple of books for my ipad, and I hate it! I def prefer a real book!!

  19. I love making smoothies too (and I use Sun Warrior – it’s delicious!). I haven’t had one in a while though, because the cold weather has made me want to drink cold/frozen beverages a lot less. But it’s almost smoothie season again!

  20. I love smoothies too! Except I hate cleaning the blender.Always worth it though!

  21. I have to say that it’s not “smoothie weather” yet in Ontario, but when it is, I want to try making some hearty green smoothies with xanthan gum, so I can eat them with a spoon. My latest snack obsession is making a a protein “pudding” with vanilla SunWarrior, cocoa powder and peppermint stevia. It’s like an after eight mint in a bowl :)

  22. I’m completely with you on the weeks passing either super fast or super slow thing. It’s always one of the other! This past week was slooooow, but I think it’s because the previous one felt like it flashed before my eyes. :)

Girl, we NEED a coffee date asap! Gah, I miss you! I mean, we’re practically coffee soul sisters: red cup lovers and black/strong Americano orderers. I can’t drink weak Americanos. Nu-uh. Oh, and the depresso saying makes me laugh because I can totally relate!

LOVE the Taylor Swift video…there are actually a few others featuring different artists (same goat noises though), but I think this one is my favorite.

I prefer regular books to e-readers as well. I’ve been forcing myself to use my iPad lately, but only because it’s easier to carry in my bag. I really miss the feeling of the paper pages…and the woody smell (or whatever that smell is!).

Oh, and that red solo martini glass is pretty genius! I want one!

Thinking of you, and hoping your weekend was better than the end of last week. <3 LOVE YOU!! xoxoxo <3

    • We totally need a coffee date!!! We should skype soon! I miss you like crazy! We could for sure do a virtual coffee date haha. That would be awesome.
I know what you mean about the smell of books, sounds weird but I miss them!
Love you lady! Feel better asap! xoxo Sending all my healing vibes to you!

  23. As far as books go, I’m an either or type of reader. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a good solid book, other times i like me reader, just depends! :-)
