Glowing Green Juice – My Ultimate Beauty Elixir

I believe beauty starts on the inside. What we eat truly does have an impact over how we look, which is why I love healthy foods packed with awesome nutrients. This is my go-to green juice recipe. It’s the perfect pick me up after a few too many treats, or just as a great way to start out each day, which is how I like to enjoy it.

This green drink keeps you energized, helps in giving your skin a beautiful glow, and is just overall delicious. I swear green juices aren’t scary, they’re tasty.

It’s become an almost daily thing in my life. Especially when life gets busy, it’s always good to know I can get in some nutrients in less than 5 minutes from a green juice.

The biggest improvement I’ve noticed from drinking these is in my skin! I feel like these green juices are my ultimate beauty elixir because it really does make an improvement with how my skin looks.

Glowing Green Juice (serves one)

  • 1/2 grapefruit
  • 2 cups of mixed spinach and kale
  • 1 cucumber
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 1-1.5 inch piece ginger root

Wash your veggies extremely well, peel, juice, and drink right away.

You can’t help but love the vibrant green color, it makes me feel instantly healthier when I drink them; I mean how can you not feel healthier drinking and eating green things.

What’s your favorite juice combination?

  1. So happy to read from you love!! I am sorry you had to go through a rough recovery and I hope you will feel much better soon!! I don’t think I could ever get sick of smoothies – and I ALWAYS eat them with a spoon, no other way possible!!
    Have a great Sunday Beauty!!

  2. Hope you recover soon Lisa. I got a little puppy recently and it’s the highlight of this week for me.

  3. OH no, I’m sorry recovery wasn’t going to great! I hope you feel better soon, twin! When I was dead after my medical withdrawal, I didn’t work out for like a month! It was crazy, but recovery is so important.

    • Thanks love! So true, I can’t believe how long I’ve been going without a workout, but it kind of feels like I needed it anyways!

  4. Smoothies are meant to be eaten with a spoon, in my humble opinion.
And I’m sorry that recovery is turning out to be a lot more complicated than expected, but know that rest right now is the main thing your body needs! Not working out is frustrating, but your body needs all the extra energy it has to go towards healing itself…once it’s healed, it’ll have the extra energy needed for your pilates and your spin bike ;-)

    • So agree!
Very true Sam! I think it’s just the being stuck at home and stuck in my head that’s getting to me! The anxiety isn’t as bad as I thought it’d be though which is good.

  5. I’m sorry to hear recovery is taking a bit longer but so happy to hear from you! Rest up and I’m sure you’ll be back to normal in no time :)

  6. I can relate to this post ALL to well! I’m glad you’re on the recovery front but remember, all surgeries don’t take X amount of days to recover, so although you might be “different”… It’s normal! Elmo has been by my side since I’ve been home. Whenever I’m really upset, he’ll always look at me constantly almost as if he knows what I’m thinking about. It’s kind of creepy. Lol. You’ll be back to Pilates soon enough! For now, get your rest :-)

    • Ah yes, you’re so right! I’ve never really had surgery before, so I guess I shouldn’t put so much pressure on myself to recover in x amount of days!
Awe, haha. Elmo sounds like such a cutie! I heart animals.
      Thanks for the support Lauren<3

  7. I hope that you recovery is going well!! Thank goodness you have sweet miss Lola to keep you company and give you kisses! ;)

  8. melissa says:

Mind me asking what you had surgery for? I wouldn’t ask.. but every post references it. Hope you feel better soon!

  9. thinking of you girl and your recovery!!! one days when we spend time getting ready we always feel so much better about ourselves, you think we would do it everyday ;) some days just a little lazy or too rushed haha
And you will get back into Pilates soon!!!
    HUGS

    • Thanks girls! Appreciate the well wishes!
Haha, I know what you mean about being rushed, which is probably why I wake up far too normal on most days ;)

  10. I hope your recovery continues to go well. Dog’s are amazing when we need them. My mom had major surgery when I was a sophomore in high school and the dog, who loved me, would grown if I started to walk up to my mom when she was sleeping. Hopefully Lola is just as loving and protective for you!

  11. I LOVE the old 90210! I watched every single episode when I was in high school. So glad you’re starting to feel like your old self!

  12. I’m glad you’re feeling well enough to blog again! I hope you’re feeling back to 100% soon. :)

My favourite juice combination is any one with beets and apples in it – I love how naturally sweet they are!

  13. Oh I hope recovery is smooth and speedy! All of that juicing and those healthy meals will definitely help to get you back on track. I am the same way when I take a break from blogging. I just feel so distant from the whole blogosphere and it is good to finally get back :)

    • That’s what I’m counting on helping in this recovery;)
Totally agree! That’s how I feel too! I always miss it a bit.

  14. Aw, I’m sorry to hear recovery’s been a bit bumpy for you. Don’t feel bad for getting tired easily or not working out. Remind yourself that it’s temporary only and a normal – though unpleasant – part of recovery. Fingers crossed you’ll feel better soon – and having cute Lola for company must sure help. She really is too adorable.

    • Thank you!Very true, I just need to remember everyone recovers different and has difference reactions to that!

  15. Aww…It’s so nice to hear from you! I’m glad that you’re recovering and that you’re finding the positive aspects of the whole situation. Don’t worry about not exercising- its an amazing break for your body! I’m sending lots of good vibes and get-well wishes your way!

  16. Hope you feel better soon!

I’m a huge smoothie fan, and I too like to make my super thick and eat them with a spoon! You’re not alone on that one! :-) It’s the best!

  17. I’ve missed you SO much, pretty girl! <3 It sounds like the rest is doing you good, though—I'm happy and relieved to hear that you're on the mend. <3

Guess what? I made an amazing smoothie with frozen cherries yesterday! You are so right—they're absolutely delicious. I'm pretty certain that I'm hooked for life. Next I'll have to try juicing…I'm admittedly a little intimidated by drinking green (I know–so silly), but I think I'm almost there. It will happen soon. ;)

I'm so glad Lola has been by your side this past week! Dogs truly are woman's best friend, and they're so loving and understanding!

I hope you had a relaxing weekend, dear friend! Let's chat about HLS soon! <3 xoxo

    • Yayyy! So happy you picked up frozen cherries! I went through a huge bag insanely fast. I’m thinking I should be embarrassed but I’m not.
I was intimidated by the green juice too, but if you start off easier with more fruits, less veggies you can make your way quickly to the greener ones! Now I don’t know why I was so intimidated by it!
      Yes, let’s definitely!!! :)
      Love youuu!xox

It is weird without my daily dose / post from Lisa…and not weird in a good way. I don’t like it!
And I feel so SAD that I don’t know why you even needed to have surgery, AND even sadder that you had to have it in the 1st place. Oy.
But as long as you’re getting better, and recovering well. That’s most important. And you do sound in good spirits :).
So yeah, basically, major wellness-wishes being sent your way from moi<3.

Puh-lease don't hold out on that pudding recipe too long. It looks so delectable , and I have ripe avocado and cherries a-waiting. And I believe this pudding is their destiny.
    Xxx

    • Ah, I’m sorry Sarah! I miss posting! This week is so much better in that I’m not sick as much! Yay!
However, I’ve had tonnsss of appointments and check ups which is annoying, but I’m on the mending road!
I’m going to cheat and give you my recipe, since I was hoping to post it earlier but I failed.
      Oops.
It’s 1 avocado, 1 cup frozen cherries, 1 T cocoa powder, about 1/2 cup almond milk (maybe more like 1/3 cup), 1/2 scoop protein powder, a little stevia all blended up! Oh my gosh, it’s awesome.

  19. Hey Lisa :) I just recovered from surgery last month and let me tell you if it weren’t for yummy snacks + beautiful flowers I am not sure what I would have done with myself. Thank goodness for Netflix + Pretty Little Liars as well :) I love THICK smoothies, I like to chew smoothies too, I know kinda weird but it makes me fuller + I feel like I am eating something. Hope your recovering well! Love + Shine CourtStar

  20. So good to hear from you. And i’m sorry about the complications friend. Praying for a quick healing so you can be back to your pilates and routine. You can come beautify me anyday! I hate it.

    hugs

  21. Katherine says:

May I ask what kind of surgery you had as well? Sending you good healing vibes – I missed your posts all week!!! :( glad you’re back!

    • Thanks Katherine! Appreciate the healing vibes!
I’m going to send you an e-mail about my surgery situation!

  22. aahh, Lola is so adorable!!! I know whenever I am not feeling great, just looking at my Shih Tzu helps to make me feel better. :-)

I’m glad that you’re recovering and are back! XOXO

  23. glad you’re on the road to recovery!

  24. I have the same obsession with drinking green juices girl. They instantly make me feel like I’m the most healthy person ever lol. It’s weird. But I get it! Get well soon! xoxo

  25. Oh with a spoon is the way to go! Love smoothies that way and it’s actually the only way I eat them! I know how you feel when you are unable to workout. I’m battling the flu right now and all I can think about is getting better by tomorrow so I can make it to my boot camp class! As much as I love working out though, I’ve learned the hard way how important it is to listen to your body and rest :-) I’m sure you know very well how to do that too!

    • Ah, right! It feels silly to be thinking about my next workout, but I do love it so much!
Rest is always better than pushing it though.

  26. I’m sorry to hear you had to have surgery but am glad you’re recovering well – yes, definitely treat it as a break and give yourself lots of rest. I love juicing too and that will certainly help in your recovery as it gives your body the nutrients it needs to repair faster! I love the classic ABC – apples, beets, carrots – juice, but I look forward to trying yours next week! I’m always looking for new juice ideas too!

    • Thanks Anna!
I love the ABC juice combo, I can’t believe I’ve never tried that! I definitely need to give that a go!

  27. Free therapy, very right! I’m proud of you for giving your body the time off it needs. You have come SO far, just like you told me on a comment recently on my blog. I like to think we get strength from each other!
I’m sorry you’ve had some complications come up in your recovery but I hope they’re nothing major and that you continue to heal up well!
I have to admit I love not getting ready haha. I am so lazy, I won’t even dry my hair because I get so impatient. So I frequently show up places with wet hair.

  28. I want that recipe! I have been all about cherries lately, yum!!!

I am so happy to hear you are doing well, soon you will be back in the swing of things and burning yourself with the curling iron, haha! I do that too! Sucks when that happens, not so funny!

    Lola is the cutest <3

    Happy Monday love!

    • I’ll hopefully get it up Thursday or tomorrow!!
Thanks Katie:) Yah, burning is definitely not fun haha.
      Hope everything is well<3

  29. Andrea says:

Can’t wait for that pudding recipe! What did you have surgery on? Sounds like you’re still able to cook up some delicious meals :)

    • Definitely still making sure I’m cooking up some good recipes;)
I’m going to e-mail you about surgery! I don’t really want to talk about it on the blog, for now hah.
