Random Acts of Kindness

Performing random acts of kindness is a great way to show the world that we have the power to bring kindness to other people, and have the opportunity to make someones day a little bit brighter.

This isn’t a new concept, it’s been around for a while. It feels better when I put my intentions out there, this way maybe more people would like to get involved as well. It couldn’t come at a better time. Next week, starting on February 11th is the kick off to National Random Acts of Kindness week.

Sometimes, it’s nice to do things for other people, even if they have no knowledge of who performed this kind act. I think this kind of activity can help bring awareness to how our behaviours effect other people. Are you doing things with a kind and open heart? Or a negative one?

Often, we get caught up in the mindset that things “never go our way” or we “don’t have enough”, I’m always a firm believer in gratitude and being grateful for the blessings I have in my life.

What better way to take that focus off “me, me, me” and start thinking about others. I want to use this week to bring more gratitude in my heart and be able to make other people smile.

It feels great to contribute more to society, be a compassionate and loving person, and show my appreciation for simply being blessed in life. I believe random acts of kindness are a great way to show this.

Random Acts of Kindness

These things don’t have to be difficult, just little acts that can truly change how someones day is going. We may have experienced these random acts before.

There are many things we can do:

  • Buy coffee for the person in line behind you
  • Donate old clothing or canned food items
  • Bring blankets to a homeless shelter
  • Bring in treats to work
  • Fill someone’s parking meter, volunteer,
  • Give someone a compliment
  • Be more thankful to those around you.

These are just a few ideas, but there are way more out there. A simple thank you and a kind smile can do wonders. Whatever you do, it doesn’t have to cost money. Just know it will benefit someone, even in a small way.

Remember it’s not all about you. If your in a bad mood, it doesn’t mean you have to drag others into your bad state. Try putting on a smile and give someone a compliment, or buy a persons meal. I guarantee this will make your day at least a bit better. You have the power to change your attitude and show others kindness.

I want to end that post with my appreciation. I appreciate you all for reading, even if you don’t comment. Thank you for just showing up to my blog, blogging truly boosts my happiness each day.

  1. Ha Ha I like that you added just eat with a blanket or heater! That’s what I tell everyone too :) I swear- we could be the best of friends if I lived near you. We’d totally be those people all bundled up with a smoothie bowl in our hands :)

  2. I’m not even sure I’ve ever had pumpkin pie, haha. No one in my family was a baker growing up! Hmm favorite thing to make healthy… probably a big bowl of spaghetti (squash!)

  3. oh wow, i never thought to combine avo and pumpkin, good call! <3 it!!!

  4. OMG your smoothie textures never fail to amaze me- love how thick and creamy they end up! Although I’m not much of a smoothie drinker, I am with you about eating/drinking cold stuff in winter. I’m THAT girl who goes for fro yo regardless come snow or shine ;)!

  5. ooooh i’ll have to try this! i just made pumpkin pie oatmeal the other day!!

  6. This looks so yummy! It’s way too cold to be drinking shakes here now but maybe a post workout shake? I totally stole your idea to add coconut flour to shakes and now I can’t have them without it!

  7. I love the avo addition. It adds SO much to smoothies!
Do you eat your shakes like ice cream?

  8. Yum, yum, yum! Sounds delicious and I want one now! ;-)

  9. Smoothies all year round!! I don’t stop, I can’t, I love them so much.
And i am not a Pumpkin Pie fan either, though we don’t really have it here – but having it as a smoothie sounds so much better anyway!

  10. yummy, sounds delicious!! :-)

  11. Swooooon. Now this is my kind of smoothie! The one you have to eat with a spoon :D I’m not -huge- on smoothies in the winter, but I’m definitely willing to make exceptions. I’m thinking I really need to try out this coconut flour addition — I did it once a long time ago, and I remember it adding a really great texture.

  12. I never thought of freezing the pumpkin! I make pumpkin pie smoothies often (aka twice a week all fall!) but I think freezing the pumpkin would make it extra thick and creamy, not to mention adding coconut flour. Super creative! Yum.

  13. That smoothie looks suuuuuuper thick – exactly the way I like it ;-) and while my smoothie consumption lessons in the winter months, it definitely doesn’t stop completely!

  14. I’m all about hot lattes now that it’s cold out, but this smoothie does look delicious! I love making healthy muffins, pancakes, any sort of dessert – making it vegan and sugar-free makes me happy!

  15. I LOVE how this sounds! I definitely need to try this sometime soon.

  16. I love making any baking treat healthier by doing the ‘ole half oil/half applesauce thing! And substituting one egg for two egg whites, etc. I like to have SOME fats in my baked goods, though, because replacing all of them just doesn’t work. And I’m never a smoothie person because I’m too lazy to make them! LOL

  17. You don’t like pie??! Oh no! This looks like a good substitute :) And I’m definitely still into smoothies during the winter months – I actually just had one this morning!

  18. I make this shake a lot, especially in the fall, but I haven’t ever thought to add coconut flour or avocado! Can’t go wrong with a “cake-like” flavor and the avocado is the perfect way to add in a healthy fat without having to go for the usual peanut butter which I think affects the taste. :)

  19. Is the pumpkin canned? If not, where do you find cubed fresh pumpkin? I want to try this so badly as I love pumpkin!

  20. HOLY GOODNESS!! This looks and sounds amazing. I happen to love pie, and would eat an entire pie if my waistline would allow it. I must try this healthier version!

  21. Apparently ice cream sales go UP in the colder months – I think we all like a little (or a lot) comfort food by the heater :)

  22. I just posted a pumpkin ice cream recipe on my blog! Great minds think alike. Love the addition of coconut flour to give it a more authentic “cake” texture. Coconut flour is so great for just about everything! I’ve used it to thicken up frosting-type recipes recently, and I’ve been meaning to make some chicken nuggets coated in a coconut flour crust. Just the thought makes me hungry :)

  23. I loooove pumpkin pie flavoured smoothies! The addition of avocado to this one sounds awesome. Must try that next time!

  24. Oh this sounds good, I would never have thought of adding coconut flour to smoothies. I love pie, I make it a good bit as it’s the only sweet treat my boyfriend actually likes. I think pie is my favorite after cookies.

  25. ooooo la la this sounds great babe! i pinned it! can’t wait to try it! i love the coconut flour in it!

  26. Haha! Ironically, it’s still 70-80 degrees here in LA so a smoothie or shake doesn’t sound half bad!
I can’t believe you don’t like pumpkin pie (or any pie) though! I love it. Apple pie is probably my favorite. Mmmm….warm, apple, cinnamon goodness. (:

  27. THAT is my favorite kind of consistency! :) Thick but not hard to dig into!

  28. Since you and I share a love for frozen treats at all times of the years, it’s no surprise I am completely on board with a fall-flavored shake. I have actually been thinking of trying a smoothie with fresh, raw, pumpkin but I am waiting until I get a stronger blender. I am interested to see what the difference in taste is compared to using puree!

  29. I have to admit, I am a HUGE fan of pumpkin pie. Mostly because my mom, my sisters and I attempt to make it every year at Thanksgiving – I think we are finally starting to get this whole ‘pie crust’ thing under control ;)
That being said, I’m all about healthifying recipes – will def have to try this one out soon!

  30. Well, I definitely love pumpkin pie but I’d still eat/drink the heck out of this smoothie!

  31. I love pumpkin protein shakes! The coconut flour is such a brilliant (and strange!) add. Can’t wait to try it!

  32. I had to give up the cold things…. I’m freezing here! lol! I’ll have to save this for the summertime! ;)

  33. This looks amazing, much better than plain pumpkin pie! I’d take a hige bowful of it right now, yum! x

  34. If only I liked Pumpkin, although it looks so delicious I would have to give it a whirl!
