Fit Friday

Hey, lovelies! Happy Friday to you all!

Hopefully you all have fun plans for this weekend!

I can’t believe the weekend is finally here, unfortunately the weather isn’t looking that great, but that doesn’t mean it still won’t be fun.

Backing up to last night, I finished the day off with a favourite I forgot about for a while. GREEN protein muffin. Love. Spinach is a magical food. It can go into just about anything and you can’t taste it. I swear!

In some exciting fitness news this week, I was accepted as a Fitfluential Ambassador! After reading one of my favourite bloggers, Tessa’s post about the program, I finally decided I should send in an application. A few weeks later I was notified that I was accepted.

I love the message they are trying to spread with awareness to health and fitness goals and passions. I am so excited and honoured that I was accepted as an ambassador and am truly excited for what this positive community will bring along for me. Especially, since I’ve only been blogging for a short amount of time.

As you all know I am very open in my recovery process, and I hope I can help others with their recovery or to even not get involved in an eating disorder in the first place. It is a truly awful and deadly disease. I want to provide insight and advice to others that want it, and want to encourage everyone to get to their happiest and healthiest. Being healthy is the main priority and that looks different on everybody.

I am definitely not perfect, but am working on creating balance in my life with fitness, nutrition, and all it takes to be a healthy individual. I still have my struggles, but am being proactive in working on them.

This morning started off with the usual, this workout, breakfast, and coffee…

Now, the past week my workout routine has drastically reduced because I was feeling quite ill at the beginning of the week. I still managed to get in a great workout this morning though.

As you all know by now I love my quick and effective workouts, HIIT or Tabata mainly, and also love circuit workouts as well. They make time fly by and they are so efficient. It’s fun and effective. And remember, you don’t need a ton of equipment to get in a superb workout!

So, I got into my new workout pants, grabbed a timer, and got my booty kicked in this workout.

Have fun and try this out :)

Yesterday, I also had the chance to try out the Fitnessista’s Tabata Workout. It was great. I was huffin’ and puffin’ by the end of it. It’s definitely a great Tabata workout, and you should give it a go!  It’s only 4 minutes, so no excuses ;) I forgot how hard jump tucks were.

Have an incredible day and a great weekend!

What was your workout today?

A Circuit Workout and Tuesday Talks

Morning!

Look at the beautiful sunset we had last night!

I lied to you all, yesterday I actually ended up doing a workout, and it rocked. It is a circuit workout! I love circuits because you change exercises so often that you don’t have time to get bored.

I heard this song earlier on the radio and it was stuck in my head all day yesterday, which gave me inspiration to incorporate part of the song into my workout!

This was a tough workout, my legs felt dead by the end of it!

I am pretty excited about this coming weekend, because I have plans to see the Hunger Games. I have heard it’s a great movie, so I can’t wait. I’m still positive the book will remain better though. As is usually the case with books vs. movies.

Speaking of the Hunger Games, friday night I just layed low and was watching Chelsea Lately and Jennifer Lawrence (who plays Katniss) was on the show. Oh my, can I just say I love her more now. She was actually hilarious, so now even more excited to check out the movie :)
Here’s a link to her interview if you want to check it out: Jennifer Lawrence Interview

This week has been a little tough for me, after reading Tessa’s amazing post yesterday on exercise and recovery I started looking at my own recovery. I know I still have so much work to do. I haven’t gone into much discussion about my eating disorder, but I have been having a lot of anxiety with it recently. I feel like I have to exercise everyday to deserve the food I am eating, because if I do not workout I don’t need the fuel at all. I also am leaning towards all my “safe food” and am having trouble branching out. Meg has been helping me a lot with my fear foods and I can’t thank her enough for it, I know I just have to do it so that my anxieties will lessen, but it is so hard to get out of the ED mindset. I am definitely going to keep motivated this week and challenge myself with foods I am not comfortable with! I need to be uncomfortable to make a real change. I wrote a list down of my fear foods and asked why I’m afraid of them I have no reason to be. I’m thankful I have this blog to get my feelings out there, because before I would just hold it all in; and things could go down badly in a spiral relatively fast. I’m determined to kick my ED this week! I have the week off of work so I have the time to be making these challenges everyday!

Of Interest:
A law in Israel was just announced stating that they will no longer higher models who have a BMI lower than 18.5. Read more here. Do you think this is a law that should take place globally? What if someone is naturally very thin? Obviously I think this is great to get more awareness out on the dangers of eating disorders! Also it will be nice to see more diverse models, but another part of me wonders if it is fair to completely eliminate models who are simply naturally that thin. Isn’t that being discriminated against?

What do you think of the new law in Israel banning models who have an unhealthy BMI?
What is your workout for today?

Enjoy your Tuesday!!

Thursday Things

Happy Thursday! I hope your morning has started off great!

Here are some things I’m loving this week.

I wanted to share this workout I did yesterday! It is killer. It made my arms burn and after the weight section there’s some plyometric moves to boost your heart rate and keep you working! My arms are definitely sore after this.

1. This workout.

*the burpees are meant to be full burpees (with a push-up)

2. Overnight Oats.

After spin this morning, I came home and ate some breakfast:

Overnight Oats

  • 1/2 cup GF oats
  • 1 scoop vanilla sun warrior
  • 1/2 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon flaxseeds
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin
  • 1 tablespoon raw cashew butter

I cooked this up yesterday and left it in the fridge overnight to eat right away this morning.

3. I want this shirt, I think it would look really cute with a high waisted skirt!

4. I am on the search for these nail polish colours today:

5. Go check out this site. It makes me laugh…out loud

Now I’m off to get a start on this beautiful day!
