Happenings Lately

Long time no talk! Well, three days but it feels longer.

There was no chance to post on Friday, since I was practicing my pilates class like crazy and also had teacher training that day…and all weekend, so I unfortunately didn’t have the chance to update at all. No biggie. How was everyone’s weekend? Hopefully, it was a marvelous one.

My weekend was pretty darn good over here, busy, but it was still great! Let’s get to the good stuff and take a peek at some happenings lately…

I Believe…

Good Morning!

There and many beliefs I’ve held onto from the past. Some were adopted from other people, while others were used for me to feel “superior”. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it’s part of my past, that I accept.

Now, I’ve been able to change some of those harmful beliefs into happier and healthy beliefs instead. Belief is such a powerful thing. It can lead us to happiness, but it can always lead to destructive behaviours. Today, I want to focus on those positive, little beliefs that make me content.

I believe….

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day…in fact, I tend to eat this meal twice per day because I love that much…

I’m pretty sure I could live on Breakfast foods if I was given the choice. Most likely due to the fact that Breakfast is sweet and other meals are savory, who made that “rule” anyways?

Coffee and tea must be consumed daily…for sanity purposes.

We all know I love my coffee and tea. Nothing is better than waking up or getting home after a long day and relaxing on the couch with a big cup of hot tea or coffee.

A smile is the best exercise you’ll get all day

Even though I struggle with my exercise – like taking more rest days; I always know I feel better from a simple smile, than I do from a 60 minute spinning session. *(More on this later).

The day isn’t complete without nut butter of some kind

If I have nut butter in one of my meals, you can guarantee I’m saving the nut butter for my last bite. Always save the best for last:)

Home is where the heart is

home is where the heart is

There is something fun about jet setting away for the weekend or a few weeks, but nothing feels more comfortable than returning home to my own bed. Often, when I picture my “safe spot” while meditating. My bed is the first place I go to.

Reading books everyday

add more ~ing to your life

Reading has had such a positive impact on my life. The day just doesn’t feel complete if I haven’t read something. Don’t even ask me to choose a favorite book because that won’t happen.

Most importantly, I believe in myself

Happy Thursday, friends!

Life Realizations

Today happened to be quite a beautiful day. Not only was it bright and beautiful outdoors, but my mind was filled with inspiration, positivity, and radiant energy. There are lots of things I want to change in my life, but this feeling isn’t one of them. To keep up this surge of happiness, I’ve started to realize the things I need to start believing in more.

We are the only one’s standing in the way of our true happiness. Only we have the power to be the best version of ourselves. After sitting with these thoughts, I’ve come up with a list of life realizations that I believe in.

Currently I’m {Feeling Honest}

Good morning all! Hope your week has gone splendid so far!

As you all know, I’m a fan of living in the moment. There’s a point in life where you just come to realize that life is better spent being yourself. Embracing your quirks, and behaviors that maybe other people don’t quite understand.

Even though I’ve been through a lot in the past, through that whole process I’ve become much more confident and comfortable in my own skin. With that, I need to be honest with a few things that I’m currently doing and feeling.

What I Ate Wednesday

Hello, all. It’s Wednesday! Which means I’ll be linking up to this weekly fabulous What I Ate Wednesday party. It also means we’re half way through the week!

Around 6 this morning, I got up, got on some gear and made my way to the little home gym we have upstairs. It’s so nice to have the same spin bike at home that we have at the gym, so I know what my usual tension and RPM will be. It was a doozy of a workout.

After my workout, with a little stretching too (I’m getting a bit better at this), I made my way downstairs for some substantial food.

Little Bits Of Happy

And it’s Monday…and I didn’t post all weekend. I meant to post sometime during the weekend, but didn’t get enough time to open my computer and compile a post together. Now, it’s time to get back to the Monday grind.

Coffee Talk

Good morning friends! It’s Friday and I really need it to be Friday and have some coffee talk.

Man oh man, you wouldn’t believe my night, it was brutal.

I’ll tell you all about it at the end of this post. Let’s start with some fun and end with the serious stuff.

1. Instead of relying on my faithful coffee first thing, I’ve decided to switch it up with my favorite tea.

Lovely Delights

Hello all! How was everyones weekend?

It still continues for us over in Canada land, since it’s Family Day. Yes, this is a very random holiday, but at least we get an extra day off:)

I hope all of you who got a plethora of snow are keeping safe and sound. No snow over here. Sad. Actually, over the weekend we had almost spring weather, it was so very pretty.

Let’s focus on the marvelous things I’ve been doing and making the past few days.

Perfectly Imperfect

Confession time. It’s not fun to admit, but finding balance and moderation in my lifestyle is still very hard for me to grasp. I’m not perfect, and it may come across like I’m no longer an extremist, but I still suffer from “black and white thinking”. There is an extreme lack of balance still happening in my life.

My belief seems to be that if I’m going to do something, it has to be done perfectly. The thought is that I need to label food and exercise to live a healthy lifestyle, which simply is untrue. Since there’s no middle ground, moderation is extremely  hard for me to grasp. This usually leaves me unbalanced.

buckwheat bowl

{ Buckwheat bowl with chopped strawberries }

For many years, my diet consisted of junk food. I can’t recall ever liking vegetables, and lived off white pasta, bread, and fries. After I became aware of my bad eating habits and body image, I vowed to change my eating habits. This lead to my extreme diet change.

It would’ve been easier to slowly reduce the amount of junk I ate, eating more wholesome foods, instead I completely replaced all junk food with “clean” food. That was that. No balance, no treats. Food from now on was labelled “bad” or “good”.

coconut ice cream

{ Eating the last of my favorite coconut milk ice cream straight from the container… }

Perfection isn’t labelling foods as “good” or “bad”

Enter, an obsession with food, exercise, and over-thinking. Very, very disordered, as I can obviously see now! Finding a balanced lifestyle is something I strive for still, yet completely miss finding balance. My mind seems to block out the gray area in between the black and white edges, this leads to me being a perfectionist.

Even though I love eating wholesome foods, there’s nothing wrong with me eating a cookie, having a glass of wine, or having a bowl of ice cream. Eating a brownie doesn’t mean I’m fat or unhealthy, it means I’m human, it means I enjoy life.

roasted kabocha squash

{ Same ol’ obsession. Cinnamon sprinkled roasted kabocha }

We all do our best to overcome our weak points. Luckily, we have the tools to overcome traits we’d like to change. Even though I’m a perfectionist, it’s extremely possible for me to live a balanced lifestyle! Moderation is attainable, there is no such thing as a perfect diet. Things in our life like to be balanced, we strive for balance, and we all have the power to achieve changes we wish to make.

Instead of  striving for perfection, I want to be able to have my imperfections be my own version of perfection. Having dessert, drinking wine, and eating mostly healthy foods will be perfection in my eyes.

coffee

 I’m perfectly okay with being perfectly imperfect.

Are you a perfectionist?

What is your idea of balance?

What makes you perfectly imperfect?

Sorry for my long winded post, sometimes I feel the need to vent:) Hope everyone is having a beautiful day!

11 Fun Facts

It’s finally Saturday! Hallelujah for the weekend time. I think this was possibly the longest week ever.

This week, I’m suffering with a little illness and have been complaining to anyone who will listen. I’m a real gem. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get out of the house and get together with friends…

Remember how you all asked me to post random facts about myself? Fine, no one did but it’s Saturday and I wanted to finally write this post.

I’ve been nominated a few times for this Liebster award, but I figured I’d finally get to posting it!
