My favorite mornings are those spent slowing down.
On the weekend, I always find the time to make one day a day to savour. The kind of moments where you wake up on your own time, no schedule to follow, nowhere to be, and no planning whatsoever.
Just sitting and relaxing while sipping a cup of coffee and taking in my surroundings. These moments used to be a great fear of mine. I was so preoccupied with the importance of being busy, I forgot to take time for myself and pay more attention to my surroundings.
Taking in moments like these…
Enjoying the food I know my body enjoys.
Sipping a cup of tea outside on the patio.
Taking a pilates class, instead of creating one of my own. Sometimes it’s nice to have another persons guide and gain inspiration from them.
Making a bunch of random Snack plates into meals instead.
Getting outside in the fresh air and taking Lola for walks.
Closing the computer and watching a classic movie instead.
Taking time to enjoy the friendships I’ve made, and relish in the company I keep.
Quiet mornings alongside a fresh juice.
There seems to be a lot of pressure to be more busy, get more done. Why do we feel this need to be super busy all the time? Are we just afraid of being alone in our thoughts? I know I’m guilty of glorifying the idea of “busy is better”.
My idea of a good day used to be sprinting to get everything done. Now, I’m appreciating the days where I’m allowed to be more slow paced. No strict guide lines, just living simply. This has reduced my stress levels by at least half, just by changing my mindset of time.
Remember to pause and take a moment every now and again. We tend to let life pass us by without much thought. Counting down hours, days, or weeks until we hit a certain event. But how often do you relish in this moment and appreciate the now?
Do you ever feel like time passes by too quickly?
Do you appreciate the moments where you can just slow things down?
Have a lovely day!
